[Bug 1730231] [NEW] Nautilus opens for every mediafile a seperate player when selecting a group of files and pressing Enter
Public bug reported: Expected behavior: The Player selected as standard opens with a playlist of the (media)files. (This is what actually happens if you select an application with the open with ... dialog) What happens: Nautilus launches for each file a separate instance of the standard-application. Example: 10 mp3 files selected opens 10 player-windows of audacious, qmmp, vlc, mpv or what ever is selected as standard. (I did try all of the named programs) This happens only if the group of files is open via pressing Return or selecting 'open' in context-menu. It does not happen when selecting an application via 'open with ...' in context-menu. Same behavior with groups of png or jpg files and photo-viewers. Reconstruction: 1. Open Nautilus 2. Set a mediaplayer as standard-application for mp3-files. 3. Open a group of mp3-files by selecting them and pressing 'Enter' or using the 'Open'-Item in the context-menu ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.26.0-0ubuntu1 [modified: usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop] ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-16.19-generic 4.13.4 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-16-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.1 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: GNOME Date: Sun Nov 5 21:02:23 2017 InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-10-28 (7 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.10 "Artful Aardvark" - Release amd64 (20171018) SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug artful -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1730231 Title: Nautilus opens for every mediafile a seperate player when selecting a group of files and pressing Enter To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1730231/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1730229] [NEW] Desktop stops accepting input from mouse, keyboard, touchpad, or touchscreen, but topbar and dock still accept input
Public bug reported: The desktop area stops accepting inputs from the mouse, keyboard, trackpad, and touchscreen. However, gnome session is not frozen, because I can still interact with the topbar and the Ubuntu Dock using the pointer or keyboard. I can move the pointer using the trackpad, or attached mouse, but clicking or typing in windows on the desktop area has no effect. What I can not do: - I can not close windows using the window buttons. - I can not move windows. - I can not bring windows to the foreground. - I can not click on any dialog buttons. - I can not type in any test areas (such as in gedit). What I can do: - I can start the activities view by clicking on Activities in the top left corner. - I can launch programs from the dock and from the applications button. - I can also interact with the notifications area or the indicator icons at the right of the topbar. - I can type and search for applications after entering the Activities overview. Logging-out and loggin-in does not resolve the problem. - Note that GDM accepts mouse and keyboard inputs. - After logging back into the desktop, I can not interact with the desktop area, as before. [Bug 1245473] Re: Binding ctrl+shift, alt+shift, etc for switching keyboard layout makes shortcuts with ctrl+shift, etc not working in any program
The following list of bugs are all Launchpad bug reports that are the result of xorg-server freedesktop.org bug #865 ( https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=865 , as linked above): Bug #36812 Bug #150702 Bug #292260 Bug #303434 Bug #1245473 Bug #1246656 Bug #1671799 Bug #1683383 These all should be a duplicate of bug #36812, which should be reopened. A bit if historical perspective for people who didn't bother to read all of this and #36812 comments: 1. The current behavior of the X.org server - where any shortcut starting with the shift keys used to change layout, is broken and can't be used - is (as claimed by X.org devs) a requirement of the X keyboard extension (XKB). 2. A bug report on the X.org bug tracker (at freedesktop.org) was created at 2004 with a suggested alternative behavior and was followed closely with a patch to the server code. Followed a long discussion where multiple approaches up to and including changing the standard were tried and rejected by the devs. 3. Reports were opened in many distribution-specific bug trackers with requests to carry the patches from the bug report in an out of tree. Most reports were closed as "WONTFIX". 4. On 2011-01-06 a patch was added to the Ubuntu xorg-server 1.9.0.902-1ubuntu4 package for Natty (11.04). Ubuntu was the only distribution (building X.org) that carried a patch to fix this serious issue for consumers. 5. As part of the X.org servre 1.19 release, the original patch carried by Ubuntu since Natty stopped applying cleanly on the code, and on 2017-03-27, as part of the Zesty release, the patch was dropped (this is documented in bug #1671799) - even though an updated patch that applies cleanly on X.org 1.19 was already ready on the bug 865 report. 6. At this point bug #1683383 was created. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1245473 Title: Binding ctrl+shift, alt+shift, etc for switching keyboard layout makes shortcuts with ctrl+shift, etc not working in any program To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1245473/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

As soon as a I switch back to the rule installed by epson the scanner starts (after switching off-on) to up-load the firmware and is accessible by scanning programs (as non-root). @luca can you please try the following udev rule (scanner is locally attached via usb, please keep the current one stored at an other place, no garantuee, so you may want to revert) : /etc/udev/rules.d/79-udev-brother.rules # chmod device BROTHER group ATTRS{manufacturer}=="BROTHER", DRIVERS=="usb", SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="04f9", ATTRS{idProduct}=="*", MODE="0777" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1728012 Title: Many 3rd party scanner drivers are broken by a sane change To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/1728012/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1730226] [NEW] nVidia driver prevents mounting root fs with btrfs - gives initramfs prompt
Public bug reported: After installing nVidia drivers, the machine boots to a initramfs prompt in kernel 4.13. 4.10 boots fine, although the x server crashes continuously. In 4.13 initramfs, dmesg reveals that there was an error mounting the root fs. btrfs check reports that the fs is fine, but mounting it manually gives the same result. It's using btrfs raid 1. "It doesn't make sense to spend time porting non-native applications when native applications already exist that can do the job." A open source developer is proud of his code and wants it to run on as many subsystems as possible. The whole point of GNU is that software is agnostic to its platform. I can't imagine someone wants to just throw away very well written quality code and hand it over to some really terrible, non-functional, and unsafe code. The subsystem (gnome) is hopefully mature and modular enough to fix indicator-multiload with only a small effort. The Unity desktop environment is End of Life so this is just basic life-cycle management. Getting gnome-shell-system-monitor up to indicator-multiload's quality standards will take much, much, much more effort and time before all the bug reports get filed and fixed. I have no problem with change. I have a problem with quality degradation because people put their principles above quality. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1714804 Title: Aardvark Daily: Indicator-Multiload doesn't show full-width To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-multiload/+bug/1714804/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1730211] [NEW] Unable to type capital letters using onscreen keyboard
Public bug reported: Unable to type capital letters using onscreen keyboard: 1. Launch a program where you can type text (gedit for example). 2. Activate on screen keyboard (by touching the screen, foe example). 3. Notice all the keys on the on screen keyboard display lowercase letters. 4. Begin typing. Lowercase characters are typed into the text area. 5. Tap on the Shift (up arrow at left side of on screen keyboard) key of the on screen keyboard. 6. Notice all the keys on the on screen keyboard now display capital letters. 7. Begin typing. 8. A lowercase character will be typed into the text area. This is not expected behavior. Instead, a capital letter should have been typed. (All the keys on the on screen keyboard revert to lower case. This is expected, since the on screen shift key would need to be pressed again in order to attempt to type another capital character). [Bug 1730207] [NEW] guile-2.0.13 included in package produce meep run-time erros
Public bug reported: I am running Ubuntu 17.04 on an amd64 pc box. Using sudo apt-get install the meep package installs and produces a working binary, but at meep run time an error is produced, and the program stops. The package apparently always includes the latest guile-2.0 version, the latest being guile-2.0.13. If meep and dependencies are compiled from sources, using guile-2.0.11, an error-free meep binary is produced. According to meep maintainers (see meep-discuss email archive, "Installation instructions for meep on Ubuntu 16.04" by Ardavan Oskooi) the problem can be traced to SWIG. Until the problem with SWIG can be fixed, I suggest replacing guile-2.0.13 with guile-2.0.11 in the Ubuntu meep package. ** Affects: meep (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1730207 Title: guile-2.0.13 included in package produce meep run-time erros To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/meep/+bug/1730207/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1722809] Re: GNOME Shell Extensions subcategory is empty in GNOME Software
