When you applied the patch to the 4.4.0-122 kernel did you have to
perform any backporting? I had to with my test kernel, so maybe I
didn't perform the backport properly.
I'll do some investigating to see if a prereq patch is needed, so we
don't have to do any backporting.

determined that printer installs and works fine in xenial but drivers
are missing from bionic and cosmic .. now gutenprint is supposed to
supply these any idea why they went missing? or the communication fails
to the printer under bionic/cosmic currently

Same happened also me. Updating system and intel-microcode is installed in AMD
machine.
Updating intel laptop and also AMD-microcode is installed in intel-laptop. Is
there no amendment here? What processor is used.
