Update: installed the 418.56 driver from the PPA repository, works way
nicer now. To get here required a one time kernel boot option of
nomodeset before installing the driver, also as pointed out by the IRC

adding a VPN configuration from Network Settings and connecting to it.

I have a slightly newer chipset (Kabylake) so VP9 is supported in my

Thank you very much. I think I can live with the first option. I'll look
more into the implications, but it seems to be better than not having
the process running at all.

maybe try this on and remove nopnp? Although 1) I couldn't make it work (maybe
I did it wrong, i'm a noob) 2) it was about suspend with the lid open not
working.
I any case siyia said nopnp screwed with suspend. It is most likely the case, I
think if it works when you disable the touchpad
Using Hyper as my terminal with zsh and running fine :)

Libreoffice 6.2.2.2 20(Build:2) hangs on 19.04 with "Loading document.."
on ODTs, but not on ODSs. I had no issues on 18.10.
EXPECTED: ODT file opens
WHAT HAPPENS INSTEAD:
* blank LibreOffice 6.2 window opens with brief message "Loading document.."
* when closing the window
The dpkg log shows that you are in the process of upgrading shim-signed
and that you have DKMS modules installed. In order to continue using
DKMS kernel modules under the new Secure Boot policy, these modules must
be signed, and the key used to sign them must be enrolled in your
firmware.

I'm sure this is a touchpad related problem because suspend works if
touchpad is disabled. We are very close :).
