Ubuntu Kylin 20.04 installed a beautiful boot/GRUB2-menu and Kylin starts up
and works fine.
The error messages during the finals stages of installation might be
related to boot mode in the BIOS (UEFI Boot vs. CMS
Kind of surprised to this still outstanding after almost 8 years. This
is still happening on kernel 5.3 in Ubuntu 19.10.

The investigation was narrowed down to shared IRQs. Whenever an IRQ is
set to shared, if kernel is booted with irqpoll or irqfixup, at every
interrupt received all shared interrupt handlers are triggered. This is
specially performance harming for HPET-based RTC interrupt handler,
since HPET access
