It happens only for wayland. Just tried out again with the tester
account. Attached is the output of gio and journalctl for that account.
As you can see gio reports two SSD, a HDD, and a DVD but not other

Issue solved.
The problem is the system was installed above a previous one, and while
/ was reformated, /home was preserved. In particular, a faulty
~/.config/openbox was preserved. Renaming this directory completly
solved the issue.

At some point we added an option to Rosegarden to stop it from launching
JACK. Go to Edit > Preferences... > Audio > General tab > Start JACK
Automatically. If you uncheck this, JACK will not be started by
Rosegarden. This bug can likely be closed.

Timidity assumes output to ALSA. If JACK is running, that means no
audio. Launch timidity as follows:
timidity -Oj -iAD
That should get you sound when JACK is running.
