Ends up hard resetting by holding the power button to restart the pc.

this further by installing a virgin Ubuntu Server 20.04 with SSH.
Changing the 'Port' in /etc/ssh/sshd_config to 7722 starts sshd on port
7722 and NOT on port 22, just like you said, Simon. BUT:
Rename sshd_config to something_
According to #11, your usb sound card fails in the pulseaudio, could you
please remove the usb and test.
If that doesn't help, I guess you must install some package that
conflict with pulseaudio, that can explain #10.
If possible, please collect a pulseaudio.txt without usb sound card.

properly,there showed a touchpad driver on xinput list cmd, but some issues
continued at that point-
1) pointer moved automatically for a while
2) Suddenly stoppe
ah. ok. on button down nothing happens. if i hold down the button and
drag the mouse, the menu appears, and works. on button up, if the menu
hadn't already appeared, it appears for a tiny fraction of a second,
then disappears. this is a bit different than the non-qt behavior, but,
it's fine.

I have 2 monitors and one HDTV being used as a monitor. Everything was
fine on Pop OS 19. I upgraded to Pop OS 20 (which I assumed bumped me to
the latest Ubuntu) and now I'm having fractional scaling issues.
Left monitor = 1080p monitor in portrait mode
Middle HDTV = 4k HDTV in landscape mode
Rig
ok did that. a new and populated .config/pulse was created upon launch
of pavucontrol-qt. bug still present as described. thank you, happy to
keep trying things..

It's was installed as a sugestion from 0ad game. In the configuration
stage asked for the interface name and left the field in blank. After
that, the program crash after launch.

Update: clean 20.04, same fault, so it affects the 5.x kernel series.
Reverting to 18.04.
