My suggestion would be to print a warning unconditionally on first
install that you should test it and not assume it will just work, and/or
to not set crashkernel=... with the default in the first place so people
have to go explicitly set it (and, implicitly, read about the fact that
one size does

updating it to the 1017-raspi kernel, now that it was available, and
copying the boot partition data (apart from meta-data, network-config
and user-data + my own config-files) on top of the files on the boot

I had this problem a few weeks ago (21.04) & changed to x11.
Additionally I found it sometimes affected nautilus file windows in the dock in
the same way.
The dock would show dots for windows that did not exist & then new windows
could not be opened & reboot was needed. So its more than just a Th
i tried the sudo ppa-purge ppa:ubuntubudgie-dev/scratchy command and the
output was
sudo: ppa-purge: command not found
but i unticked it in software sources and it didn't appear when i ran
sudo apt update

This is a good suggestion Rich! I've looped Dann and Cascardo, both
maintainers of kdump-tools to also discuss this subject.
We could have a more explicit message when installing the package, maybe
in the same screen that asks if we want to enable kdump by default. I'm

Why hasn't the patch been backported to Bionic which is supposed to be an LTE.
Without the patch, the package is worthless as it crashes on startup...
It's now been almost 4 months since this bug has first been reported...

Small update. I have tried multiple Nvidia drivers that are available
in the repositories. Same behavior between versions. I understand that
this isn't a guarantee but maybe this isn't an issue with nvidia.

I'm here to say that I'm having the same issue.
Until this evening, I was using Debian 10 with KDE, but I installed
Ubuntu 20.04 a few hours ago.
I use a laptop with a external keyboard connected on it and my laptop
have a numeric keyboard and my external keyboard don't, so I always use
the lapto
