Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1960464/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1960463] Re: live usb disk with persistence installer crashed once
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 I'd upgrade your system; as the 5.11 kernel is no longer supported by Ubuntu (it was a 21.04 kernel which is now EOL; with 20.04 systems having upgraded to 5.13 some weeks ago now). Your `ubiquity` crash I suspect relates to how your live-with- persistence was created (ie. bug maybe belongs with whatever program you created it), and if your upgrades are not being applied (ie. why you're still using an EOL 5.11 kernel) that is more symptoms of issues with your persistence-media creation. I've marked this bug as 'Incomplete' as details show an non-updated system with possible issues in creation of the live media with persistence. If you believe I'm wrong, please leave a comment with details, and the status of this report can be returned to 'New'. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1960463 Title: live usb disk with persistence installer crashed once To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1960463/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1960463] Re: live usb disk with persistence installer crashed once
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. From the bug description: > CasperMD5CheckResult: skip It's possible you had a bad write to your installation media or for some other reason its contents could not be read correctly. Please always allow the integrity check to complete so that all errors can be displayed. [Bug 1960410] Re: desktop always flicking after i update processor to i7
Thanks for the bug report. It seems unlikely the flicker is caused by the new CPU. To prove that you could maybe reinstall the old one? I think more likely this is a connection problem with the analog VGA cable. Try unplugging and replugging both ends of the VGA cable. And if you can then please try a different VGA cable. [Bug 1959702] Re: Regression: ip6 ndp broken, host bridge doesn't add vlan guest entry to mdb
Harry, I'm still working to reproduce this, without success. I have set the .autoconf sysctl to 0 (which controls creation of local addresses in response to received Router Advertisements), as well as setting .addr_gen_mode to 1 (to disable SLAAC (fe80::) addresses). In any event, .autoconf=0 and .addr_gen_mode=1 still fails to reproduce the issue on my test system. I find that if I disable mcast_flood on the relevant bridge ports (i.e., bridge link set dev vnet1 mcast_flood off) I do see the behavior you describe, but in that case no variant that I've tried (no vid, and all vids in use) of "bridge mdb add ... grp ff02::1:ff00:2" appears to permit ND traffic to pass to the VM destination. Can you provide more specifics of how exactly the bridge and ports are configured? Ideally, both the method to set it up, as well as the configuration details when failing (i.e., "ip -s -d link show" for the bridge and relevant bridge ports, "bridge vlan show", "bridge mdb show", "bridge fdb show br [bridgename]") Also, to answer a question from your original report, the default setting in the kernel for multicast_snooping (enabled, i.e., 1) hasn't changed recently (and quite possibly ever). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1959702 Title: Regression: ip6 ndp broken, host bridge doesn't add vlan guest entry to mdb To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1959702/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Upstream reference: https://github.com/sagemath/sage/blob/9.0/src/bin/sage#L614-L631 If I'm not mistaken, these lines should always point to /usr/bin/python3 for the Ubuntu package to avoid this flaw. Note that there are other executables (ipython in particular) which may be appropriate to locate against the system as well. The package maintainer(s) probably know how to fix this better than I do, but I can confirm that replacing `exec python3` with `exec /usr/bin/python3` in these two locations does appear to resolve the problem. ## Boilerplate information: 1) system info $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS Release:20.04 2) package info $ apt-cache policy sagemath sagemath: Installed: 9.0-1ubuntu4 Candidate: 9.0-1ubuntu4 Version table: *** 9.0-1ubuntu4 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: sagemath (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1960459 Title: Sage cannot be launched if `python3` does not point to system interpreter To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sagemath/+bug/1960459/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1959993] Re: SRU of LXC 4.0.12 to focal (upstream bugfix release)
(We technically had the same issue with the previous upload as 4.0.6 was higher than what hirsute shipped at the time, though in that case the EOL for hirsute was just a month or so away making the case for skipping that SRU even stronger :)) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1959993 Title: SRU of LXC 4.0.12 to focal (upstream bugfix release) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1959993/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1959993] Re: SRU of LXC 4.0.12 to focal (upstream bugfix release)
In general, it's indeed a problem for such cases, though there are a few mitigating factors here: - This would only be a problem for those who upgrade from focal to impish. My understanding is that there is no direct upgrade path to achieve this, you'd need to go throughgroovy and hirsute, both of which are EOL, so I wouldn't really expect many/any user to do this. - The LXC team is responsible for self-assigning CVEs and preparing LXC security updates (~ubuntu-lxc-security). In such cases we usually prefer releasing a new upstream bugfix release (LXC 4.0.x is an LTS with a 5 years security commitment upstream) and then upload that to the -security pockets where applicable. So in that case, we'd bump jammy to match focal, saving us some effort on validating the security update by making things be identical on all releases shipping 4.0.x (jammy will be on 5.0.x). That's generally how we've handled those micro release updates and so far haven't run into any problems but I'm also not necessarily against uploading the exact same source package as focal to impish, the preparation time would be pretty minimal, it's mostly on the review and testing side of things that things can increase significantly especially as we usually struggle to find users on non-LTS to perform more than a simple install/upgrade test. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1959993 Title: SRU of LXC 4.0.12 to focal (upstream bugfix release) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1959993/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1901056] Re: Lubuntu OEM install doesn't work; it simply starts Lubuntu
OEM was last offered by Lubuntu 18.04 when we used `ubiquity`. The feature was lost in switching to LXQt in 18.10 & later with the use of `calamares`, thus the task https://phab.lubuntu.me/T16. It's both probably a bug (OEM is shown!) and regression (wanted feature was removed but still appears on many uEFI boxes?). The bug currently is the OEM is still being shown (on certain boxes; not on others; ie booting the same ISO on various boxes gets different options offered). This includes current 20.04.4 daily media still. This will likely be dealt with via release notes like it was with 20.04.3 media, ie. "OEM is not available for Lubuntu There is no OEM mode available for Lubuntu in 20.04 as reported in this bug. When selected a live session will begin." The OEM option has been removed and does NOT appear on jammy dailies in my testing (including box(es) where it appears with 20.04.4 daily) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1901056 Title: Lubuntu OEM install doesn't work; it simply starts Lubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/1901056/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Method from Alan Orth (aorth) worked for me. Sorry about the delay in replying to this bug. From the bug description, it seems to me that this issue happened while using Ubuntu Xenial (16.04); is that correct? I know it has been a while, but can you still reproduce the issue? If yes, are you able to describe the steps necessary to trigger this failure? Ubuntu Xenial has reached the end of standard support, but I would like to determine whether this is still affecting you and if you are able to reproduce this using a newer version of Ubuntu (Bionic or Focal). [Bug 1937343] Re: FireFox 90 unable to install unsigned webextensions
Please stop promoting snap. I and a lot of people are not going to use it. Snap is not unix-wayish, it is Windows-bloated-wayish. A big step back and complete garbage. The same way flatpak and appimage and docker- container-as-a-unit-of-software are. I have almost created a script that patches the binary installation in order to workaround Mozilla's sabotage (I have never tested that the method works though, but I guess it should). When finished, I gonna create a binary package with triggers to patch firefox on installation. The only missing ingridient is the python library for editing zip archive in place (because I don't want to unpack and repack the whole archive just to patch 1 small JS file). Since it is a complex task, I just followed the way of creating a ctypes-based bindings for a C library for manipulating zip archives. It is here https://github.com/KOLANICH-libs/libzip.py in an unfinished unworking state (well, ctypes part works, but we need to wrap it properly in an interface similar to ZipArchive to be a kinda drop-in replacement, or maybe even promote it into the stdlib). I currently have no time to work on it. [Bug 1960336] Re: No login screen after recent update
Not sure if it's the same issue, but a fresh load of the preinstalled Jammy image on Raspberry Pi 4 goes through most of initial setup, but then goes to a blank screen.
