[Bug 1890230] Re: arm64 ipxe package isn't an arm64 build

2022-02-09 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
I have provided what I think will resolve your issue, since it is optional and
not hurting anybody else this is fine.
But without further engagement and verification of that I can not consider
backports to e.g. focal right now.

[Bug 1887703] Re: [Regression] 5.4 is not identifying all ports on Intel x710-TM4 10GbE controller

2022-02-09 Thread Jeff Lane
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1893956 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1893956

@thomas955 - the i40 driver in 4.15 will not be updated. You may want to
try the 5.4 HWE kernel for 18.04 which I think should include the
patches to enable the x710-T2L. We only pulled the support back as far
as 5.4.

@lemonkoala the x722 is a different card from the x710, and it's likely
additional patches are necessary to enable that version of the 700
series card. Please file a new bug for your issue (and feel free to add
a comment here with the bug link and I'll see if I can work on it.

[Bug 1960464] Re: mysql breaks apt, system, can't even be uninstalled

2022-02-09 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1960464/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Since Dependencies.txt shows you have the broken (41.3-1ubuntu1) gdm3

it's the first case of someone hitting it via updates that I have heard
of. Previously it seemed like you would only have a problem if you
installed from this week's ISOs.

[Bug 1824322] Re: Unlock dialog does not have keyboard focus

2022-02-09 Thread John Maraist
The restoring keyboard focus part is slightly different for me because I
do not lock/require a password post-screensaver. The way it behaves for
me is that the I must deselect the current window --- either clicking on
the background, or choosing another window, or clicking one of the
taskbar buttons which opens a new window.

[Bug 1946727] Re: free(): invalid pointer for every cdo call

2022-02-09 Thread Jialin Wang
Daniel. Thanks for your help. As far I can recalled, I've installed GDAL
related pacakges from UbuntuGIS. But I cannot find which exact package
may cause the conflict.

After encountering this, I've tried using `cdo` version 1.9.10 from
conda and it works great.

In fact, `cdo` is quite a complicate packages to compile. It requires
many additional support to include. For this version I use, it features
"50GB 12threads C++11 OpenMP45 Fortran PTHREADS HDF5 NC4/HDF5/threadsafe
OPeNDAP SZ UDUNITS2 PROJ XML2 MAGICS CURL FFTW3 SSE3'. I think it work
great in my WSL2 machine so far.

So, for anyone who also has the need, I highly recommend you to try this
conda version `cdo`.

[Bug 1960463] Re: live usb disk with persistence installer crashed once

2022-02-09 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

I'd upgrade your system; as the 5.11 kernel is no longer supported by
Ubuntu (it was a 21.04 kernel which is now EOL; with 20.04 systems
having upgraded to 5.13 some weeks ago now).

Your `ubiquity` crash I suspect relates to how your live-with-
persistence was created (ie. bug maybe belongs with whatever program you
created it), and if your upgrades are not being applied (ie. why you're
still using an EOL 5.11 kernel) that is more symptoms of issues with
your persistence-media creation.

I've marked this bug as 'Incomplete' as details show an non-updated
system with possible issues in creation of the live media with
persistence. If you believe I'm wrong, please leave a comment with
details, and the status of this report can be returned to 'New'.

[Bug 1960463] Re: live usb disk with persistence installer crashed once

2022-02-09 Thread Erich Eickmeyer 
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

From the bug description:
> CasperMD5CheckResult: skip

It's possible you had a bad write to your installation media or for some
other reason its contents could not be read correctly. Please always
allow the integrity check to complete so that all errors can be
displayed.

It might be better to install Ubuntu (or official flavor) directly to a
USB for use rather than use a persistent mode as the Ubuntu ISO images
are not designed to be used in this way.

[Bug 1960410] Re: desktop always flicking after i update processor to i7

2022-02-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

It seems unlikely the flicker is caused by the new CPU. To prove that
you could maybe reinstall the old one?

I think more likely this is a connection problem with the analog VGA
cable. Try unplugging and replugging both ends of the VGA cable. And if
you can then please try a different VGA cable.

If that doesn't resolve the problem then please attach a photo or video
of the problem.

[Bug 1960336] Re: No login screen after recent update

2022-02-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Vincent,

Thanks for the quick response. Please try uninstalling your shell
extensions:

  'caffe...@patapon.info', 'xcaffe...@asegner.gmail.com'

and then reboot. If the problem persists (with gdm3) then please take a
photo of the screen and attach it here.

gdm3 is a little suspicious at the moment because it might be the cause
of bug 1960226 too. Not sure.

[Bug 1960464] [NEW] mysql breaks apt, system, can't even be uninstalled

[Bug 1959702] Re: Regression: ip6 ndp broken, host bridge doesn't add vlan guest entry to mdb

2022-02-09 Thread Jay Vosburgh
Harry,

I'm still working to reproduce this, without success. I have set
the .autoconf sysctl to 0 (which controls creation of local addresses in
response to received Router Advertisements), as well as setting
.addr_gen_mode to 1 (to disable SLAAC (fe80::) addresses).

In any event, .autoconf=0 and .addr_gen_mode=1 still fails to
reproduce the issue on my test system.

I find that if I disable mcast_flood on the relevant bridge ports
(i.e., bridge link set dev vnet1 mcast_flood off) I do see the behavior
you describe, but in that case no variant that I've tried (no vid, and all
vids in use) of "bridge mdb add ... grp ff02::1:ff00:2" appears to permit
ND traffic to pass to the VM destination.

Can you provide more specifics of how exactly the bridge and ports
are configured? Ideally, both the method to set it up, as well as the
configuration details when failing (i.e., "ip -s -d link show" for the
bridge and relevant bridge ports, "bridge vlan show", "bridge mdb show",
"bridge fdb show br [bridgename]")

Also, to answer a question from your original report, the default
setting in the kernel for multicast_snooping (enabled, i.e., 1) hasn't
changed recently (and quite possibly ever).

2022-02-09 Thread Steve Langasek
Debian has moved from mlocate to the independent plocate codebase for
performance reasons and we are following suit in Ubuntu 22.04.
Unfortunately the patch for transliteration support is non-trivial to
port and I am dropping it as part of the plocate takeover of the mlocate
package. I am therefore opening a bug task on plocate for this issue
since the package is now affected.

An updated patch that applies against plocate would be welcome.

[Bug 1960459] [NEW] Sage cannot be launched if `python3` does not point to system interpreter

2022-02-09 Thread James Gerity
Public bug reported:

## Expected behavior:

Running `sage` after installing the `sagemath` command starts Sage, even
if `python3` resolves somewhere other than `/usr/bin/python3` (examples
of when it doesn't: virtual environments, use of the conda package
manager, pyenv)

## Actual behavior:

```
$ sage
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/share/sagemath/bin/sage-ipython", line 9, in
from sage.misc.banner import banner
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'sage'
## Reproduction:
```
$ sudo apt install sagemath
...
$ which python3
/usr/bin/python3
$ sage

Exiting Sage (CPU time 0m0.14s, Wall time 0m27.42s).
$ python3 -m venv --copies /tmp/testvenv  # note: --copies is necessary for
full isolation
$ source activate /tmp/testvenv/bin/activate
$ which python3

$ sage
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/share/sagemath/bin/sage-ipython", line 9, in
from sage.misc.banner import banner
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'sage'
```
As a workaround for anybody else who stumbles into this, you can still
invoke sage as: `/usr/bin/python3 /usr/share/sagemath/bin/sage-ipython`,
which forces
## Additional information
There are a few layers of indirection at work in this bug, but at the
end of the day, this happens because of an `exec python3` embedded in
the part of the `sage` shell script responsible for launching Python.
Upstream reference:
https://github.com/sagemath/sage/blob/9.0/src/bin/sage#L614-L631
If I'm not mistaken, these lines should always point to /usr/bin/python3
for the Ubuntu package to avoid this flaw. Note that there are other
executables (ipython in particular) which may be appropriate to locate
against the system as well. The package maintainer(s) probably know how
to fix this better than I do, but I can confirm that replacing `exec
python3` with `exec /usr/bin/python3` in these two locations does appear
to resolve the problem.
[Bug 1960457] [NEW] Please remove lupin from the archive
2022-02-09 Thread Brian Murray
Public bug reported:
lupin is an Ubuntu native package that was used to facilitate WUBI
installs of Ubuntu. However, WUBI is no longer a product Canonical
produces or supports and subsequently we don't need to be keeping lupin
around. Nothing depends on the source package or its binaries.
[  1:30PM 11986 ]  [ bdmurray@impulse:~/Downloads ]
 $ reverse-depends -r jammy src:lupin
[  1:30PM 11987 ]  [ bdmurray@impulse:~/Downloads ]
 $ reverse-depends -r focal src:lupin
[  3:22PM 11993 ]  [ bdmurray@impulse:~/Downloads ]
Having said that livecd-rootfs does try and install lupin-casper when
building Ubuntu images but that is cruft but may need to be removed from
livecd-rootfs before the package is removed.
[Bug 1959993] Re: SRU of LXC 4.0.12 to focal (upstream bugfix release)
2022-02-09 Thread Stéphane Graber
(We technically had the same issue with the previous upload as 4.0.6 was
higher than what hirsute shipped at the time, though in that case the
EOL for hirsute was just a month or so away making the case for skipping
that SRU even stronger :))
[Bug 1959993] Re: SRU of LXC 4.0.12 to focal (upstream bugfix release)
2022-02-09 Thread Stéphane Graber
In general, it's indeed a problem for such cases, though there are a few
mitigating factors here:
 - This would only be a problem for those who upgrade from focal to
impish. My understanding is that there is no direct upgrade path to
achieve this, you'd need to go throughgroovy and hirsute, both of which
are EOL, so I wouldn't really expect many/any user to do this.
 - The LXC team is responsible for self-assigning CVEs and preparing LXC
security updates (~ubuntu-lxc-security). In such cases we usually prefer
releasing a new upstream bugfix release (LXC 4.0.x is an LTS with a 5
years security commitment upstream) and then upload that to the
-security pockets where applicable. So in that case, we'd bump jammy to
match focal, saving us some effort on validating the security update by
making things be identical on all releases shipping 4.0.x (jammy will be
on 5.0.x).
That's generally how we've handled those micro release updates and so
far haven't run into any problems but I'm also not necessarily against
uploading the exact same source package as focal to impish, the
preparation time would be pretty minimal, it's mostly on the review and
testing side of things that things can increase significantly especially
as we usually struggle to find users on non-LTS to perform more than a
simple install/upgrade test.
[Bug 1901056] Re: Lubuntu OEM install doesn't work; it simply starts Lubuntu
2022-02-09 Thread Chris Guiver
OEM was last offered by Lubuntu 18.04 when we used `ubiquity`. The
feature was lost in switching to LXQt in 18.10 & later with the use of
`calamares`, thus the task https://phab.lubuntu.me/T16.  It's both
probably a bug (OEM is shown!) and regression (wanted feature was
removed but still appears on many uEFI boxes?).
The bug currently is the OEM is still being shown (on certain boxes; not
on others; ie booting the same ISO on various boxes gets different
options offered). This includes current 20.04.4 daily media still. This
will likely be dealt with via release notes like it was with 20.04.3
media, ie.
"OEM is not available for Lubuntu
There is no OEM mode available for Lubuntu in 20.04 as reported in this
bug. When selected a live session will begin."
The OEM option has been removed and does NOT appear on jammy dailies in my
testing (including box(es) where it appears with 20.04.4 daily)
[Bug 1903838] Re: package libcrypt1 1:4.4.10-10ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: rm command for cleanup subprocess returned error exit status 127
2022-02-09 Thread Mark Gillespie
Method from Alan Orth (aorth) worked for me.   To clarify, you need to
get a copy of libcrypt.so.1.1.0  BEFORE attempting upgrade, as by the
time it borks, you might have trouble getting the file onto the system,
as many utils won't run.
For me, I got the file from here and extracted it:
http://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/libx/libxcrypt/libcrypt1_4.4.10-10ubuntu4_amd64.deb
When the upgrade failed, cancelled out (x), and then copy, symlink and
resume upgrade as detailed above.
[Bug 1571725] Re: /usr/sbin/samba:6:invalid_name:__opendir:recursive_delete:cleanup_tmp_files:binary_smbd_main
I double checked the errors.u.c URL
(https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/e10ccfadbdf98b7b2db8b873073f4f33b27e7179)
and verified that the vast majority (if not all) reports have come from
Ubuntu Xenial users.  Since Ubuntu Xenial has reached its end of
standard support, I'm therefore marking this bug as Won't Fix.  The good
news here is that this seems to have been fixed from Bionic onwards.
[Bug 1878945] Re: crash slapd after update
2022-02-09 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Sorry about the delay in replying to this bug.
From the bug description, it seems to me that this issue happened while
using Ubuntu Xenial (16.04); is that correct?  I know it has been a
while, but can you still reproduce the issue?  If yes, are you able to
describe the steps necessary to trigger this failure?
Ubuntu Xenial has reached the end of standard support, but I would like
to determine whether this is still affecting you and if you are able to
reproduce this using a newer version of Ubuntu (Bionic or Focal).
I'm marking this bug as Incomplete for now; please move it back to New
once you have replied to this comment and provided more details.
Thanks.
[Bug 1960449] [NEW] Backport container stack in Jammy
2022-02-09 Thread Lucas Kanashiro
Public bug reported:
[Impact]
In order to follow our policy on keeping the container stack (docker.io,
containerd, and runc) up-to-date in our supported releases, let's
backport the stack in Jammy to Impish, Focal, and Bionic.
It is also important because the new releases contain some CVE fixes.
[Test Plan]
Per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DockerUpdates, our test case is the
autopkgtests
[Where problems could occur]
As usual, we deliver most benefit to our users by delivering an upstream
experience. A risk of regressions is part of that.
[Bug 1955827] Re: Firefox without 'TitleBar' alters the look of MATE buttons
2022-02-09 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I see that you're running firefox version 91.0.
This version is outdated, I strongly suggest you update to the latest version
(97.0) and check whether the problem is fixed there.
The problem sounds similar to this upstream bug:
[Bug 1937343] Re: FireFox 90 unable to install unsigned webextensions
2022-02-09 Thread KOLANICH
Please stop promoting snap. I and a lot of people are not going to use
it. Snap is not unix-wayish, it is Windows-bloated-wayish. A big step
back and complete garbage. The same way flatpak and appimage and docker-
container-as-a-unit-of-software are.
I have almost created a script that patches the binary installation in
order to workaround Mozilla's sabotage (I have never tested that the
method works though, but I guess it should). When finished, I gonna
create a binary package with triggers to patch firefox on installation.
The only missing ingridient is the python library for editing zip
archive in place (because I don't want to unpack and repack the whole
archive just to patch 1 small JS file). Since it is a complex task, I
just followed the way of creating a ctypes-based bindings for a C
library for manipulating zip archives.
It is here https://github.com/KOLANICH-libs/libzip.py in an unfinished
unworking state (well, ctypes part works, but we need to wrap it
properly in an interface similar to ZipArchive to be a kinda drop-in
replacement, or maybe even promote it into the stdlib). I currently have
no time to work on it. Help is welcome.
[Bug 1960336] Re: No login screen after recent update
2022-02-09 Thread Marc Doughty
Not sure if it's the same issue, but a fresh load of the preinstalled
Jammy image on Raspberry Pi 4 goes through most of initial setup, but
then goes to a blank screen. Subsequent reboots and restarts of gdm3
lead to a console screen with a blinking cursor instead of the login
screen. Manually starting a GNOME session from the console works.
