[Bug 57389] Re: nautilus doesn't work without dbus service

2006-08-23 Thread Mateusz Drożdżyński
Thanks for your bug report. Nautilus depends on libgnomevfs2-0, which
depends on libdbus-1-2, what de facto makes it depend on libdbus-1-2.

You can issue this command to see that these dependencies are there:
apt-cache --recurse depends nautilus | grep dbus

[Bug 57396] Can't upload to certain sites like Yahoo

2006-08-23 Thread Ronny Bangsund
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to upload pages my usual lazy way - by letting Quanta do
the work. However, this isn't working for Yahoo!/Geocities sites,
as you're right in the webroot when logging into the FTP.

I've seen this bug reported on Debian bugtracking, and closed
without fixing, to some complaint.

It's easy to reproduce - simply specify any path or blank and try to
have Quanta upload a page to the Yahoo/GC account.

Upon reaching config.php, the first file, I get this error:
Could not write to file /config.php.part.

The version is the Dapper package, 3.5.2-0ubuntu5.

[Bug 57397] X server fails to start after xorg update

2006-08-23 Thread Vikas BN
Public bug reported:

Hi,

The X server failed to start after I installed the xorg
update as prompted by the update-manager. I tried the
following, but still had no luck getting X to work again:

   dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg (as root)

   I have attached the /etc/X11/xorg.conf, /var/log/Xorg.0.log
and the output of lspci -v.

[Bug 57399] updates

2006-08-23 Thread Robert Ackerlind
Public bug reported:

I really like ubuntu 5.10. I set up and maintain a cyber cafe with free
coffee and dsl for consumers of mental health services. I get older
systems for free and upgrade them a little so people can do the music
videos. youtube.com is the acid test to see if a computer meets minimum
standards. I am busily installing ubuntu on all the computers that have
duplicate copies of win98 that are not technically legal. We are now
legal. We are now able to buy older computers with more speed and ram
but no operating systems and load ubuntu. youtube appears to play
properly with a minimum of 800 mhz and 256 ram. unfortunately I have
been doing updates/upgrades. Shortly after doing ubuntu 6.06 there came
a small update that disabled the sound for youtube. This happens on all
systems with various components. I have spent much time looking through
forums that get nowhere. I have tried many suggestions with manager and
terminal, nothing worked. Frustrating days! Movies with sound are
important. I am now reinstalling ubuntu 5.10 and intend never to do
updates/upgrades until they are better researched and supported. thank
you very much for 5.10. sorry i am grumpy about 6.06 i appreciate your
attention.

2006-08-23 Thread Leonard Chatagnier
Me too. but I fixed mine after the update this morning by unholding
xserver-xorg-core which immediately upgraded it and X then worked on rebooting.
I don't know why it was on hold as it appears as a dependency and should have
been installed with xorg-server upgrade. I left Debian to get away from this
stuff but Ubuntu seems to have reverted to Debian ways since the Dapper
release; too bad. My issue seem to be a dependecy failure rather thain a
xorg-server bug; but I no geek. Perhaps this is a different issue in my case?

[Bug 45565] Re: Can't enter text into textboxes in any way

2006-08-23 Thread Rocco Stanzione
According to debian's changelog:
http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/t/ttf-indic-fonts/ttf-indic-fonts_0.4.7.1/changelog
this font replaced RachanaMedium.ttf. Should be safe to revert to this.
Attached for convenience.

[Bug 57400] Re: No ChangeLog for fix of bug 57153

2006-08-23 Thread Rodrigo Novo
There is a changelog for xorg-server 1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10.4. It is not
possible to build a debian package without a changelog entry, for that
matter.

The relevant changelog can be read on your locally installed package, or
here, if you don't have it -

http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/x/xorg-server/xorg-
server_1.0.2-0ubuntu10.4/changelog

I'm also pasting it here, just in case.

xorg-server (1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10.4) dapper-updates; urgency=low

  * Reverted patch 005_pci_domain.dpatch - breaks PCI setup for many users.
This patch will need further work before it is reintegrated into
xorg-server again.

Marking bug as rejected.

[Bug 50242] Re: i810 can not display 1024*768

2006-08-23 Thread mingliang
Hello!
I have resolved the issue, this is because default xorg.conf was error configure
file.
With editing xorg.conf by myself and now it's OK.
I think linux-driver is always stupid,it can't configure my display by itsself.
I hate configure it everytime when I change a displasy.

[Bug 27109] Re: nautilus uses 100% cpu after closing a ssh session

2006-08-23 Thread saads
Yes I can confirm this in both Dapper and Edgy. Whenever the network
connection between the two hosts is terminated, nautilus on the client
(the one downloading) hits 100% CPU and remains there. It's quite a
serious bug because the only way to bring back down the cpu is to do a
'killall nautilus'.

[Bug 57403] Can no longer aquire IP address from certain DHCP servers

2006-08-23 Thread Davyd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dhcp-client

(Using NetworkManager, but last time I checked, I could replicate this
with NetworkManager turned off)

Since upgrading to Edgy, I can no longer seem to get IP addresses from
specific DHCP servers. This used to work without troubles. Other people
also have no troubles.

I don't think this relates to DHCP version directly, the specific
machines I'm having trouble with are running Debian Sarge, but I
successfully retrieved IP details from my home machine running Debian
Sarge.

John, please only mark bugs as duplicates that exactly match the
patterns laid down by DebuggingUbiquity. I need to be spending time on
things other than double-checking the actions of bug triagers, if
possible. If you get creative then that makes things harder. :)

[Bug 57382] Re: installing ifrename may cause removing important packages

2006-08-23 Thread Scott James Remnant
Do not install ifrename ... the functionality is completely provided by
the udev package in Ubuntu (which is why your system wants to remove
that and others).

Simply edit the /etc/iftab that's already there.

[Bug 57403] Re: Can no longer aquire IP address from certain DHCP servers

2006-08-23 Thread Martin Pitt
Just from your description it is not possible to deal with the problem,
dhcp in general works fine (assuming that you actually meant the dhcp3
source package; I agree that this is a bit confusing).

Can you please attach /var/log/daemon.log? This should contain some
information about DHCP stuff and might point us to the problem.

Also, what happens if you do

  sudo killall dhclient dhclient3
  sudo dhclient eth0

(replace eth0 with the particular network interface you are interested
in). Can you please copy the output here?

2006-08-23 Thread Carthik Sharma
Hi, Thank you for reporting this bug. Any debug info, including the
messages you get when you request a new dhcp lease would be helpful to
better identify the problem. The dmesg output etc might have more
information regarding this problem. Please provide all that, and any
other pertinent information for debugging.

Thanks for your report. Due to some reliability problems with GRUB and
XFS, you need to use a non-XFS root filesystem or create a non-XFS /boot
filesystem. The fact that the partitioner doesn't warn you about this
up-front is also bug 47848, and is fixed in dapper-updates.

[Bug 16247] Re: Dell Inspiron 600m - ndiswrapper hangs on boot if running on battery

2006-08-23 Thread Ben Collins
This bug may be fixed in the current edgy. In an effort to track this
bug to our latest distribution, it is being targeted for edgy.

Please confirm whether this bug exists in edgy. If not, then please re-
attach all related output (e.g. dmesg, oops output) while under edgy.

Latest Edgy CD's can be downloaded from:

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/edgy/knot-1/

If this image does not boot from you, you can also download a current
daily build from:

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/

Note that it may only be necessary to boot the LiveCD to see if your bug
is fixed. In this case, you do not need to upgrade your installed system
at all to confirm it. Certain bugs may require that you do an actual
installation.

[Bug 57405] Edgy won't mount blank CDs or DVDs

2006-08-23 Thread David Prieto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mount

Hi, I've been having a problem with blank CDs and DVDs since I upgraded
to Edgy: they are not mounted, and when I try to do so using the drive
applet I get the following message:

http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/6536/pantallazoerroralmontardn3.png

Is this due to a bug in Edgy, or is something wrong with my fstab? Here
it is in case you wanna check, I'm no expert regarding these things:

Please note, that the AMD64 box I was reported the bug from is not
available for me now. However here is an x86 box, also running edgy, and
having similar issue, content of /proc/swaps is:

FilenameTypeSizeUsedPriority
/dev/sda1 partition 1004020 117080 -1
/dev/evms/sda1 partition 1004020 0 -2

And output of the command you've asked about:

udev093-0ubuntu11
volumeid093-0ubuntu11
