the fix in dapper updates was only for the crasher, not the other
annoyances you mention. It all should be fixed in edgy, so this should
be closed if you confirm it is dapper that you used.

I have just installed 6.06.1 on a machine that was running Suse 10.1,
and the sound card seems to be found but the sound doesn't work when
Ubuntu 6.06.1 is installed.

It was the general overall CPU load that's reporting as 95-100%; I'm
not sure whether one particular process is responsible for it or not.

When installing packages and not all of them were downloaded (e.g. due
to disconnecting from the network), the user is asked whether to
continue installation anyway or not. If I select yes, the window hangs
and takes 100% CPU. I left it running for half
well with ext it works. but about usability: I have a file I want to
find or open. I type part of it's name and it's there, but if I search
for: "blah blah pdf" I expect to find the pdf file called "blah blah"
something or whatever - and I get no results. It works right with
"ext:pdf blah blah" - b

I also noticed beagle doesn't return results of specific filename
