[Bug 71476] Re: Video scaling in totem is unclean
You probably use xvimagesink on arch linux and ximagesink on Ubuntu for some reason... but this is just a guess. When you run gstreamer-properties, which video output is selected? [Bug 75858] png to postscript - black image
Public bug reported: When trying to postscript-print certain PNG images, I get a completely black document instead of the image. This bug appears to be in Ubuntu - Edgy Eft, back in Dapper Drake everything works fine. Here are 2 test cases: Open the png images using the standard gnome image viewer (which is EOG for me) http://www.students.uni-mainz.de/pwuertz/bug/good.png http://www.students.uni-mainz.de/pwuertz/bug/bad.png Print them using the Generic Postscript printer, Location File. I get a good postscript when printing good.png, and a black document when printing bad.png using Edgy, where Dapper works fine. The postscript output files are: http://www.students.uni-mainz.de/pwuertz/bug/dapper.ps.gz http://www.students.uni-mainz.de/pwuertz/bug/edgy.ps.gz Where Edgy users see a black document on both postscripts, Dapper users see a normal image when opening dapper.ps.gz but also a black document when opening edgy.ps.gz Maybe its a more global bug in the postscript system? ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- png to postscript - black image https://launchpad.net/bugs/75858 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 75214] Re: Screen occasionally offset to the left
This happens to me as well. It started after I ran several recommended updates this Monday; most notably xorg and xserver-xorg from version 1:7.1.1ubuntu6 to 1:7.1.1ubuntu6.2. It happened during the upgrade in question, and since then, it has happened once shortly after each time I resume from hibernation. Logging out and in again solves the problem temporarily, until the next day when I resume. It seems to happen about 5 minutes after I resume (has happened three times so far). If I leave it running, without re-logging in, the screen shifts further to the left. I'm guessing it's about 50 pixels at a time. The mouse pointer is still using the real screen coordinates, so I have to click 50 or so pixels to the right of where I want. I'm running the nVidia 8776 driver from the official repos, on a GeForce4 4200 Go graphics card in a Dell Latitude D800 with a widescreen 1680x1050 monitor. Taking a screenshot does not show the problem (the screenshots look normal), so I can't show exactly how it looks, unfortunately. -- Screen occasionally offset to the left https://launchpad.net/bugs/75214 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Well, the error is in it for some time already :/ I can still reproduce the bugger time and time again. I solved it by making the config file read only. This is not a definite fix, but rather a workaround. Try disabling ACPI altogether. Public bug reported: Creating desktop or panel launchers is not user friendly for new users. I'm okay because I've used debian and have gone through the package list a few times so I have a good idea of what the executable's name is for a given menu entry, and I know where to find the icons (/usr/share/{icons|pixmaps} or application dir), but a new user is SOL. Even by a user that should not be allowed to run it. Once launched, it still performs well, modifying the system without ANY check. [Bug 75866] High packetloss over Atheros wireless
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-10-386 Wireless worked flawlessly on my Thinkpad T42p while it was running Dapper. With Edgy, I experience high packetloss - smokeping reports around 5% loss. Smokeping - http://oss.oetiker.ch/smokeping/ - is a tool which fires bursts of 20 pings every 300 seconds. Working interactively over ssh, the subjective experience is that the session periodically hangs for a number of seconds. In between the hangs, it feels almost normal, although repainting a remote emacs is sluggish. On the other hand, most bulk transfers are fast. Packet losses come in bursts. The worst smokeping series lost 12 of 20 pings, while most lose nothing at all. The interface is configured from /etc/network/interfaces. Encryption is WEP. Neither NetworkManager nor WPA-supplicant is used. The T42p wireless controller according to lspci -vv: 02:02.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. [Bug 59138] Re: amule crashes when I close a tab
MOTU has only known about this for 2 days. expecting 1 bug out of about 4000 to be found when it's not tagged as having a fix, or *anything* like that, is ridiculous. Same for 59 people to look at all 4000 jobs, when none of us are employed to work on ubuntu. For future reference, if it's in the development version, subscribe ubuntu-universe-sponsors so it gets uploaded quickly. As edgy is released, it will need to follow this procedure: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/SRU ** Changed in: wxwidgets2.6 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Summary changed: - amule crashes when I close a tab + [SRU: EDGY] amule crashes when I close a tab -- [SRU: EDGY] amule crashes when I close a tab https://launchpad.net/bugs/59138 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 75873] script folders
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I'd like to comment on an idea I read on Ubuntuforums: script folders. These would be like common folders containing items, only that a given script would be applied to all files copied to them. Imagine that I want my wallpapers to be at the same size as my screen: 1280x800. However, all the walls that I download are at bigger sizes, so I need to resize them one at a time, which can get really cumbersome. With script folders I could create a folder named 1280x800, and linked to a script used to resize images to that size. Any files copied to it would be automatically resized AND stored in the folder. What do you think about it? ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- script folders https://launchpad.net/bugs/75873 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
