[Bug 132359] Re: arrow keys don't work with CTRL-SHIFT anymore when compiz 'normal effects' are enabled in Gutsy
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 131913 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131913 I can confirm this - it's the same way on my laptop and affects anywhere I can input text . I'm a programmer and this kind of functionality is essential for me, so the lack of it with desktop effects turned on is really annoying. If Gutsy really is going to be composite-by-default, this kind of bugs cannot be left alone. I attach a screencast where I try to use ctrl + shift +left/right in various situations in gedit, which results only in cursor blinking. [Bug 132192] Re: ubuntu installation on VAIO VGN-A617M -- Screen Blank
So I looked into more detail into the provided link (thanks it has been very educational). The one obvious potential solution is to set the HorizSync and VertRefresh properly. Unfortunately I cannot find any information on those specs for my computer screen. The Sony Website is not really helping much in giving such detailed specs. I fiddled around with several different combinations and resolutions to no avail. I don't think this is necessarily an Ubuntu specific problem. It's probably about configuring X11 for widescreen laptops (and sony XWGA+ display in particular). [Bug 132613] Add Mupen64 to the repositories!
Public bug reported: Mupen64 is a great FOSS Nintendo 64 emulator. It would be fantastic if somebody would add this to the repos! [Bug 132612] memory leak in evince?
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince I'm running Gutsy, all up to date, and finding evince very slow and erratic with large (100s of pages, 30-50MB) PDF files. Machine triple-boots Feisty/Gutsy/WinXP; HP Pavilion with 512 MB RAM, Athlon 64 3200+ single processor. In Feisty evince loads large PDFs fine, changes pages smoothly. System Monitor shows evince process uses 50-100MB with a 50MB file open and static; this bounces up by another 2 to 50 MB when I change to a new page, but then drops back to the same level as before. In Gutsy (2.6.22-9-generic kernel) same file loads more slowly, system freezes for ages before recovering. System Monitor shows evince using 250 or more MB when the 50MB file is open and static, bouncing up to 350-400 MB when I change to another page. Then the memory usage stay high (~100%) for much longer, probably until some is paged out to swap. The effect is that the system has no (or very little) free user memory most of the time, which makes it very hard to use .. Acrobat reader in WinXP behaves much more like Feisty/evince, though the % memory used rises slowly as more pages are added to the looked at stack. It never jumps to anywhere near 100%. Both Ubuntu installs use the same swap partition, 1.4 GB; both actually use it, according to System Monitor. ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- memory leak in evince? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132612 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I tried the attached package and it does indeed work. Seems very important to fix this issue properly, as I've heard claims that gutsy wants to enable 3D effects by default. [Bug 126425] Re: [Fixed] Intel driver (using EXA) crashes system when starting compiz
What I meant is that EXA isn't tested by many. Those who have report it is slower, and there are some remaining bugs. Consider that newer intel cards haven't been tested at all because of bugs like these. Anyways, I suppose this is another thread of discussion. Sorry. -- [Fixed] Intel driver (using EXA) crashes system when starting compiz https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/126425 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 131418] Re: Open Office Write styles do not work OK
Hello there, I experience the same problem using NeoOffice 2.1 Patch 0 on MacOsX 10.4.10. After reopening a writer file I inserted another Paragraph using the Numbering (Bullets and Numbering). Instead of the concurrent number I get an 1.1 (2nd level). The bad part is, that the button Restart Numbering, which is a toggable one, should actually allow to switch back and forth between the concurrent and a new Numbering. That doesn't work - The button shows no effect. So in my Opinion this must be a Bug in the OpenOffice Package. Are you going to commit a BugReport at OpenOffice.org?
