[Bug 125947] Re: Screen blanks after ten minutes when watching video in Mplayer with XGL and Compiz Fusion turned on

2007-09-24 Thread Mario Vukelic
Thanks, Ross, for reminding me that I am confused as well. I did in fact
have xserver-xgl installed, from my experiments with compiz/Xgl. At the
time when I used compiz/Xgl, I also had the screen blank every 10
minutes, as I remember now.

I stopped using it a while ago, but I never uninstalled xserver-xgl.
Then, ca. 2 weeks ago there was an update to xorg, and xserver-xgl is
now started automatically if installed. This happened for me, even
though I do not log in with an Xgl session. And this caused the screen
blanks. I have now uninstalled xserver-xgl and all is fine for me.

[Bug 141036] Re: OO Writer crash opening a document containing check boxes

2007-09-24 Thread R1G
It still doesn't work for me:

When I try to open a file with a checkbox OO crashes: apears the window
to recuperate the file, but it can never recuperate the file.

If I open a new file and I add a checkbox, it's supposed to save the
file when I try to, but when I try to exit OO it crashes again and
apears the window to recuperate the file. I can't open the saved file
any time, and when I try to recuperate the file it's empty...

[Bug 133124] Re: MASTER [GUTSY] firefox crashed [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] from libcairo

2007-09-24 Thread James Henstridge
After noticing the ubuntulooks_draw_progressbar_trough() call in Søren's
stack trace, I tried switching to another theme.

While the Human control theme causes Firefox to crash on startup,
Firefox runs without problems with the Clearlooks and ClearlooksClassic
control themes (which ubuntulooks is based on).

So the problem most likely exists in one of the differences between
clearlooks and ubuntulooks.

[Bug 144338] Re: Gnome-app-install: User interface issues with post-install dialog.

2007-09-24 Thread Dylan McCall
Sorry about filing two bugs in one, by the way. That was lazy of me!

A peak at the source code (and an attempt to rearrange it, resulting in
breakage) tells me that updating the package list after installing is
indeed necessary. It would be good if this did not require a costly
update to the entire list, but my original thought that it would be a
simple fix is clearly incorrect. As long as I know it's there for a
reason, I will put up with it ;)

2007-09-24 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Thanks for the bug. I'm aware of this issue, and I think I've got a fix
(it's caused by the underlying X server's screensaver activating, which
you can disable by running xset -d :0 s 0). It should be included in
the next xserver-xgl upload.

Feel free to test whether running xset -d :0 s 0 fixes this for you or
whether it breaks anything for you and report back here.

[Bug 107123] Re: Need to manually ifup eth0 in feisty

2007-09-24 Thread shanen \(Shannon Jacobs\)
I suspect this is the same problem I discovered yesterday on a clean
install directly to Feisty from the CD. The easiest work around I've
found seems to be to just right click on the menu bar network connection
icon (near the clock) and disable the network, then enable it again.
Sometimes I have to do it more than once, but once it connects, things
seem to be fine after that.

The new machine is a Sharp WA70. I've done about a dozen Ubuntu machines
so far, and this is the first time I've seen this problem, but it's also
the first time I've done a Sharp notebook. (Is there some place I should
report the various minor problems I had to overcome along the way? This
network thing is the only major unresolved one.)

I don't really know... I usually choose 11, but I don't know if
there's a standard. I'm not too sure as to which one of them should do

easier, and then migrate it over into WPASupplicant if that solution

2007-09-24 Thread lazerd
ty wilsonb for responding to my post.

That is a solution that I had not tried yet.

And although the instructions at the link you provided are 'idiot
proof'... I have not had success yet.

I can not get the 2nd partition formatted, because it won't show up in
the list of devices with fdisk -l .

My usb drive is a Kingston 4gb... but my issues are noob fdisk partition
issues not related to this thread.

ty again. I will keep trying of course.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/ubuntu# fdisk -l

Partition 1 has different physical/logical endings:
 phys=(485, 254, 63) logical=(486, 6, 31)

yet within fdisk I see...

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/ubuntu# fdisk /dev/sdb1

Command (m for help): p

Disk /dev/sdb1: 3997 MB, 3997663232 bytes
123 heads, 62 sectors/track, 1023 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 7626 * 512 = 3904512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1p1 * 1 180 6863096 FAT16
/dev/sdb1p2 1811023 3214359 83 Linux

And.. if I format the 1st partition.. using mkfs.vfat -F 16 -n usb
/dev/sdb1... with no errors.

Then.. even the 1st partition disappears... according to fdisk.

Anyway, ty again. I either have a weird USB drive that wont cooperate,
or I am an idiot and need to do more studying up on fdisk.

2007-09-24 Thread Jérôme Guelfucci
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description
does not yet have enough information.

Please include the following additional information, if you have not already
done so (pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the
Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command uname -a in your next response.
It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version
you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command dmesg dmesg.log after a fresh boot and attach the
resulting file dmesg.log to this bug report.
3. Please run the command sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log and attach the
resulting file lspci-vvnn.log to this bug report.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-
related bug reports is available at [WWW]
