[Bug 125947] Re: Screen blanks after ten minutes when watching video in Mplayer with XGL and Compiz Fusion turned on
Thanks, Ross, for reminding me that I am confused as well. I did in fact have xserver-xgl installed, from my experiments with compiz/Xgl. At the time when I used compiz/Xgl, I also had the screen blank every 10 minutes, as I remember now. I stopped using it a while ago, but I never uninstalled xserver-xgl. Then, ca. 2 weeks ago there was an update to xorg, and xserver-xgl is now started automatically if installed. This happened for me, even though I do not log in with an Xgl session. And this caused the screen blanks. I have now uninstalled xserver-xgl and all is fine for me. -- Screen blanks after ten minutes when watching video in Mplayer with XGL and Compiz Fusion turned on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125947 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for the bug. I'm aware of this issue, and I think I've got a fix (it's caused by the underlying X server's screensaver activating, which you can disable by running xset -d :0 s 0). I don't really know... I usually choose 11, but I don't know if there's a standard.
