[Bug 164468] Re: Cannot install flashplugin-nonfree on 64 bit Gutsy

2008-02-02 Thread Saïvann Carignan
NZJon : Thanks for your comment. The latest fixed flashplugin-nonfree
package is in gutsy proposed. Can you activate the gutsy-proposed
repository in the synaptic package manager and install flashplugin-
nonfree version 9.0.115.0ubuntu4 ? You can do that by following these
steps :

1. Open the Synaptic package manager
2. Click on Settings / Repositories
3. In the Ubuntu Software tab, check everything
4. In the Updates tab, check gusty proposed
5. Then close this window and click on the reload button of synaptic to
reload the package database
6. Install the latest version of flashplugin-nonfree

You can also take a look at these 3 screenshot which demonstrate how to
do this :

http://upload.leservicetechnique.com/bugs/Synaptic1.png
http://upload.leservicetechnique.com/bugs/Synaptic3.png
http://upload.leservicetechnique.com/bugs/Synaptic4.png

Once you have followed these little steps, can you confirm if you still
have problems with flash on Gutsy 64bit? Thanks for your contribution.

Can all reporters of this problem provide the folowing info:

- does it fail for incoming, outgoing or both filters
- do you use Advanced filter options (like only for online IMAP...)
- what filter action do you use (move, copy, delete...)

[Bug 108527] Re: X freezes when compiz is enabled on ATI cards

2008-02-02 Thread Emmanuel Touzery
Wait, so.. because the 3D bling-bling desktop
doesn't work, you're recommending people use Windows XP?

sorry, but you didn't read the comments properly. at least for me (radeon
7000/VE, r100), the computer freezes after 20min-1 hour of use even when I
don't use compiz nor any other 3d application.
it was fine on feisty. the only solution for my problem was to downgrade to
feisty's ATI driver (version 6.6 as opposed to gutsy's 6.7). otherwise i would
have to downgrade to feisty because my computer is useless with the 6.7 driver.

[Bug 108527] Re: X freezes when compiz is enabled on ATI cards

2008-02-02 Thread Pierpaolo Follia
@hronir
Maybe because beryl was not using some OpenGL feature that now makes the driver
freeze the machine.

@Arngren and Daves
Guys, what damn are you saying? Textureglitch is right...disable compiz, or, if
don't want to disable it, try using closed driver. I'm using it right now
(because of this bug), and they are working good. There are problems with
suspend and resume (already solved in hardy), but the system does not freeze.

[Bug 20284] Re: Auto Arrange Desktop Icons

2008-02-02 Thread Nikolaus Rath
Yes, that's true. But this isn't really what this bug is about. If I
have to disable and reenable Keep Aligned every time then I can just
as well click Clean Up by Name once. Your patch seems to be a solution
to bug 12454 instead. Maybe you confused these two bugs? Because bug
12454 also speaks specifically about the problem with usb disk icons.

[Bug 188287] [NEW] dependencies installs -386 kernel which hangs on boot

2008-02-02 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure if this is the right place to complain, but I upgraded my
desktop to alpha4 and it installed the -386 flavor of the kernel for
some reason. Since grub lists -386 as the first entry, it was booted by
default and the computer hung while usplash was still visible.

Anyway, I was wondering why I got the kernel in the first place? Jockey-
common depends on restricted-modules, but AFAICT the order is correct
(generic | 386). I have nvidia-glx-new installed which depends on
nvidia-kernel-169.09, and searching for pacakges that provide it lists
l-r-m-ver-386 as first, don't know if it matters or not.

hope this report makes any sense.

[Bug 188288] [NEW] NautilusMenuItemDetails not defined in header file

2008-02-02 Thread Oumar Aziz OUATTARA
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I wanted to patch nautilus-action to add submenu support to it and I
noticed that the struct _NautilusMenuItemDetails is not available in any
of the nautilus extension headers. A search on the web showed me that it
has been defined in the nautilus-menu-item.c source file. So we need to
move it from this file to the header file. Otherwise it's not possible
to use this struct in an external code.

I have already made a patch.
Best Regards

[Bug 161794] Re: autologin doesn't work

2008-02-02 Thread Jarek Stemplewski
First do:
sudo cp /etc/apt/sources/list /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/apt/sources.list

Next chroot into /opt/ltsp/i386, mount /proc and run aptitude

In aptitude do the update, then hold (=) linux-image-2.6.22-14-386 in
'security updates' section (gives an error during upgrade so far.)

Then upgrade packages, quit aptitude and install new ldm.

One disadvantage I observed is that I loose my floppies on thin clients
after that, usb sticks work perfectly.

Cheers

2008-02-02 Thread Daniel Moyne
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 181475 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/181475

For some reason in network setting I added a wrong domain name where
there was a blank field ; this created a stop in the boot procedure (I
had to select the special kernel mode to access a console root mode
otherwise there was no error message displayed on the screen that had
gone from graphics to text mode) ; I fixed it because I remembered the
recent modification ; again there is no reason why a wrong set of
parameters for internet or for network should create such a situation ;
I would expect a boot as a single machine with no network / Internet
connection to allow for a fix in this new status.

[Bug 188294] [NEW] Ubuntu lockup on wifi config

2008-02-02 Thread eggo
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 7.10 (gutsy) I have the following problem:
When using a PCMCIA WiFi card (two I've tested this with are a Netgear MA521
and a D-Link dwl-650) The system halts when trying to save the wireless config
using the built in Network Manager GUI. The Scroll Lock and Caps Lock lights
blink rapidly, and the system locks entirely (I believe this indicates a kernel
panic, correct me if I'm wrong here) a hard reboot will bring the system back
up, but I can find no indication of an error in kern.log. (though, I admit, I
don't know what to look for)

Thanks for any help,

[Bug 163809] Re: OOo Calc auto corrects decimal numbers with dot to dates when autocorrect is off.

2008-02-02 Thread Olivier Mengué
On locale fr_FR.utf8 where the decimal char is also the comma, 19.4 is
replaced by 19/04/2008 which is a date.

This bug, combined to an other bug (the keypad dot key not giving a
comma like in Excel) is really disturbing for users coming from
Excel/Windows and even considered as a blocking bug for migration by
many.

Changing the locale is not a satisfying workaround.

No.

Even without any action it does not work. I for one have a Pipe through

[Bug 188302] [NEW] please add module option for p80211 (linux-wlan-ng)

2008-02-02 Thread Tormod Volden
Public bug reported:

The linux-wlan-ng package ships /etc/modprobe.d/linux-wlan-ng with:
# this allows network manager to manipulate the device
options p80211 wlan_wext_write=1

The new version* of the p80211 and prism2_usb modules can now work
without the linux-wlan-ng package, but they still need this option. Can
you please add this option somewhere?

I see that for instance /etc/modprobe.d/options belongs to the module-
init-tools package, but I though it was more logical to file this on
l-u-m.

Re: [Bug 182704] Re: Multimedia Keys Don't Work

2008-02-02 Thread hyperair
I've tested it myself, and get the same results. I believe the problem
here is no longer with gnome-settings-daemon not listening for the
keys.. but more of a communication problem between gnome-settings-daemon
and whatever music player we're using. I've tried Exaile and Amarok
(with the gnome multimedia keys script) and both don't work.

[Bug 183426] Re: [hardy] alpha-3: i386 desktop cd - partition gui hangs

2008-02-02 Thread zenith
I experienced this as well. It took ages to do the Starting the
partition manager or whatever it says, and I ended up closing it,
killing all processes by it, and then starting it again. It did not
quite work, and then I noticed that it kept complaining about /dev/sdd
using a size of something of 2048. I then remembered I had my iPod
plugged in. Unplugging it and restarting the installer helped me.

The installer did seem to have some problems though. I had to shut it
down a few times and start it again as it kept hanging on the screen
where I choose the language to use for the install.

have to file a new bug :).

[Bug 188306] [NEW] Key combination for popup doesn't work
