[Bug 45842] Re: nfs shares not mounted at startup

2008-04-19 Thread toer
Just a question since I have never done any [start-script] patching
before: Should I run the command

   patch -p0 sysvinit_2.86.ds1-14.1ubuntu37.debdiff

(or -p or -p1?) in a root konsole, and all will be fixed?

This concerns Kubuntu 7.10 Gutsy laptops suffering from not having nfs
wlan-disks automounted at startup (the network nicely autoconnects
through Wicd, super!).

Thanks on beforehand / Tore

[Bug 217984] [NEW] Totem exits fullscreen mode when playing from Samba share

2008-04-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hardy beta

Playing all movie files I have tried, Totem immediately exits when I try
to select fullscreen mode, Not true with Ubuntu 7.04. MPEG / AVI files.

Tested on a ThinkPad G41 with nVidia Go FX5200 and Envy installed nVidia
drivers with Hardy.

Base line unit was a unit with PNY nVidia 6200 AGP board and Envy
installed nVidia drivers with 7.04.

Same crash on Hardy when slightly making larger the player window on
some movies, but fullscreen'ing seems a more consistent problem.

[Bug 217984] Re: Totem exits fullscreen mode when playing from Samba share

2008-04-19 Thread Steve Langasek
I can't reproduce any such crash when playing
http://www.tourism.tallinn.ee/static/files/080/tallinn.mpeg full-screen
in totem via an smb url.

If you mount the samba share as a kernel mount and try to cat the movie
to /dev/null, does that work or do you get errors?

What is the speed of connection between your Ubuntu client and your
Samba server?

Is the crash reproducible for you every time by trying to full-screen
the movie when playing from the Samba share?

What version of Samba is running on the server?

[Bug 144560] Re: doesn't prompt for certificate

2008-04-19 Thread Rolf Leggewie
The way I see it the option Always ask should _always ask_ what
certificate to use each and every time I try to log into the site.

That is not the way FF works and not what the button suggests. Firefox
works with sessions. It always asks *for every session*. You can
easily start a new session by restarting FF as you already found out.
What you expect would be a confirmation for every connection. For a
single page with say 15 elements, that means 15 (!) confirmations. I
don't think anybody in their right mind would seriously expect or desire
this behaviour.

Closing, I don't think anybody will or should put effort into changing
the current behaviour.

katsiki, your problem is slightly different. I guess you installed with

I created a package for http://xsh.sf.net to use on my computer with
dh-make-perl --build --cpan XML::XSH2. It was necessary to install
and sometimes compile a couple of other cpan packages first. But let's
not be concerned about that in this report.

This description was automagically extracted from the module by
dh-make-perl.

I think there are at least two things missing. First is at least a
suggestion for libterm-readline-gnu-perl since that or a similar
readline package is necessary for command line history, etc. Second and
more importantly, after I deinstalled libxml-filter-domfilter-libxml-
perl, libxml-libxml-iterator-perl and libxml-xupdate-libxml-perl from my
computer, assuming they were only needed for compilation, xsh stopped
working and gave an error. Luckily the error message was obvious enough
that I reverted the deinstallation. Thus, at least one if not all of
the above packages represent an undeclared dependency for libxml-
xsh2-perl which dh-make-perl omitted when creating the package.

It would be nice if dh-make-perl had created a package that sported the
  two above features.

[Bug 119295] Re: OpenSSH should support VIA PadLock

I've just revisited this after upgrading my system to hardy. I still

Ian, are you passing any command line flags, or have you changed a

[Bug 119258] Re: K3B is freezing system AFTER burning DVD

2008-04-19 Thread cybersekkin
I can confirm I have had the same issue. Switching to GnomeBaker has
resolved the issue.

It is too bad I have used k3b for a long time and loved it.

what would happen after k3b has finished burning the disk would not eject nor
would it mount.
after ejecting the disk and reinserting it I would get no response from the
system.
when attempting to mount the disk via mount /media/cdrom0 the system would
get cpu bound by the hald-addon-storage.

This would only happen after k3b had successfully burnt the image.

I am using a plextor px-760a and similar specs to above (AMD64, 2G RAM)
but have had this happen on my HP laptop and another system at home as
well.

If you can't get a crash dump from anyone let me know and I will set
aside some time in the next week to run one.

[Bug 134660] Re: Ralink rt2400 / rt2500 / rt2570 / rt61 / rt73 do not work out of the box in Gutsy/Hardy

2008-04-19 Thread luca.mg
After a few days of testing I want to tell to all of us struggling with
a hardy kernel on top of gutsy that the best way to go is to install
hardy: everything works much better in hardy than in gutsy with updated
kernel, wicd a must AFAICT. I also have to say that things are working
better than before but we're not there yet: the hardware dies after a
few hours online, while it used to die after a bunch of minutes before;
this is an improvement but things are not working as they should and
some more work has to be done. This is in regard of the rt73 dongle,
still no luck with the rt2570 as of today.

Regarding the linux-backports-modules-hardy package: I installed this
too but did not notice any benefit, how do I make sure the kernel is
loading the backport modules instead of the default ones? Going to the
/lib/modules directory shows that both modules are installed in
different locations and I really do not know how to verify which
generation of module is being loaded. A nice weekend to everybody, luca

[Bug 219478] [NEW] Rhythmbox crashes on specific songs on ipod

2008-04-19 Thread mrpeenut24
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox crashes when shuffling through my ipod. The songs it crashes
on are always the same (50+ so far). I can reproduce the error by
restarting rhythmbox and trying to play the song that caused it to
crash. All of the songs on the ipod were imported using Amarok and a
majority of them have no problem playing. This happened in Gutsy (and
maybe even Feisty) and is happening now in Hardy as well. My computer
is running Hardy beta and using rhythmbox-0.11.5-0ubuntu4. Attached is
a debugged output. Sorry about the huge size, there's over 8000 songs

[Bug 219487] [NEW] Typing blocks external mouse

2008-04-19 Thread LinuxJedi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

Release: Hardy i386 up to date 19th April 2008
Hardware: Macbook Pro sec generation (core2duo, which has a built in usb
trackpad) and any external usb mouse

Expected:
To be able to use the keyboard and external mouse at the same time.

Actual:
When pressing keys on the keyboard (apart from shift, ctrl, etc...) the mouse
is paused for around a second.

Detailed:
When typing the mouse is disabled for around a second. I am assuming this is
due to synaptics disabling the trackpad and taking the mouse out with it.
This is a problem because it means I can't play any games that require the
mouse and the keyboard at the same time (ie. Nexuiz, Alien Arena, etc...).

It is also a productivity pain as I often use the keyboard to switch
desktops and then the mouse for an application on the desktop I have
switched to.

As a fix either the default needs to be to disable mouse clicks with
touchpad as default and then remove the mouse pause, have some kind of
degree of separation between the mouse and trackpad for this setting, or
have an option in the mouse/trackpad config to enable/disable this.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 206649] Re: ubuntu does not support xinput hotplug

2008-04-19 Thread Bryce Harrington
We'll use this bug as the master for the input-hotplug feature
implementation.

We evaluated input hotplug during Hardy development but found it was not
sufficiently mature for use. Upstream also feels input-hotplug needs a
lot more work to get it ready for widespread use. We hope to see it
ready for Intrepid but we'll have to see.

I'm thinking this has been fixed? I'm using Gutsy and a Seagate SATA
disk and I am getting the following.

sudo hdparm -tT /dev/sda
/dev/sda:
 Timing cached reads: 1770 MB in 2.00 seconds = 885.08 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 172 MB in 3.02 seconds = 56.88 MB/sec

lsmod | grep sata
sata_nv20612 3
libata125168 2 ata_generic,sata_nv

[Bug 219488] [NEW] [Hardy RC Live CD] X server crashes on dragging video window

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: casper

I am using Hardy Live CD on the Dell Inspiron E1405 (2GB of RAM), integrated
intel graphics (945GM).
The X server crashed completely when I did this:
1. Opened Examples folder
2. Opened experience ubuntu.ogg using Totem
3. The movie started to play flawlessly (audio video)
4. While playing, I tried to drag the Totem window and X server crashed (almost
black screen with some white dots, no audio, no input devices working)

I have noticed that CD drive was working while playing the movie.

I am willing to debug this, but I don't know how to get a backtrace (I
can run Live CD in a VM, if it is needed)

layout in the log, us, but I also use Hebrew keyboard layout.

Re: [Bug 144560] Re: doesn't prompt for certificate

2008-04-19 Thread Oscar
Ah, I understand now. I thought a session was the login-session to
the page that I was trying to access. That's what the confusion comes
from.
I didn't think a session was the current running firefox process. I
still think the wording of the button is somewhat unfortunate.
Thanks for the explanation.

2008/4/19, Rolf Leggewie [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
