[Bug 277723] Re: ecryptfs unrecognized options are logged

2008-12-25 Thread Tyler Hicks
Here's an untested patch to fix the complaint about the rw option. I
am just reusing the code from the original mount helper, so I don't
foresee any problems. The patch applies to the current ecryptfs-utils
git tree.

[Bug 311324] [NEW] cutecom stops receiving while sending raw file

2008-12-25 Thread boga
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cutecom

While sending a raw file cutecom stops receiving. In case a flow control is
used and the device I work with echoes its input to its output this causes a
deadlock since the device can't send the echo after the FIFOs are filled thus
it can't receive any more. cutecom should accept data being received while
sending a raw file either sending them to the output window or just discarding
them.

[Bug 311326] [NEW] unable to set default connection to static ip adress

2008-12-25 Thread Senad Uka
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Network manager ALWAYS adds a new wired connection for my network card,
configured as dhcp after reboot and connects to it automaticallyu. I have tried
number of workarounds found on forums (that do not include removing network
manager):
- unchecking system setting and saving the changed configuration
- unchecking automatically connect on the automatically created connection
and leaving it checked on my saved static connection
- deleting the connections and adding a new static connection for the mac
address of my network card

and none of them work. After reboot system creates the new dhcp
connection and uses it as a default connection.

[Bug 311327] [NEW] update from 8.04 to 8.10 removes kde3

2008-12-25 Thread Caldrin
Public bug reported:

I did a distupgrade from 8.04 to 8.10. This removed the possibility to
choose between KDE3.5 and KDE4 and installed KDE4 as only possibility.
Since KDE4 is extremly different from KDE3 and far behind in features
and usability, I consider this a bug. Please, please please leave the
possibility to choose between KDE3.5 and KDE4 at least until KDE4 is
able to reuse the existing KDE3 configurations and thus look and feel
like the desktop I'm used to and can work with.

Forcing the user to learn a new (and in my opinion counterintuitive)
configuration interface and to redo many hours of configuration work is
quite unkind to say the least.

[Bug 311328] [NEW] Add pulseaudio output support

2008-12-25 Thread TJ
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythtv

The current (December 2008) mythbuntu packages do not directly support
pulseaudio, despite it being the default sound server since Ubuntu 8.04.

Patches have been developed and are found in the mythtv Trac:

http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/5473

For Home Theatre systems that contain multiple sound hardware output,
and/or surround-sound services (7.1, 5.1, etc.) there are problems
configuring the mythtv frontend audio volume control. In the default
configuration with ALSA:default (and other ALSA variations) the sound
is fed to pulseaudio by the alsa/pulseaudio plug-in.

Unfortunately Mythtv mixer volume control doesn't 'know' about the
surround-sound configuration in pulseaudio and will only control the
Front Left/Right channels. Front Centre/LFE, Side Left/Right, Rear
Left/Right remain at their system-set level.

These pulseaudio patches allow mythtv to directly output audio to
pulseaudio, and accept a pulseaudio server control string too.

I've taken the mythtv Trac patches and ported them to the Ubuntu mythtv
source and am making it available in my PPA.

I don't know. I hadn't created my .pro file with QDevelop and there

So I assume some sort of default changed and now qmake no longer puts -g

[Bug 88746] Re: ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices

2008-12-25 Thread Peter Hoeg
Bad news people.

The linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic packages from -proposed do not fix it
for me - with max_sectors set to 128, it doesn't happen as frequently as
with max_sectors = 240, but there is no difference between kernels -11
and -9 for me.

Bear in mind, that my chipset is nVidia MCP73 and thus not covered by
the AMD SB600/700 workaround (I'm assuming).

I was getting the error about ohci loading first, so I forced ehci_hcd
to load first by editing /etc/initramfs-tools/modules, but it still
doesn't fix it.

So to sum it up, using the -11 kernel from proposed, max_sectors = 128
and ehci_hcd loading before ohci_hcd and this is what I get:

pe...@dolores:~$ dmesg | grep reset
[ 10.052941] usb 1-6.1: reset low speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address
9
[ 937.341197] usb 1-6.2: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and

[ 2341.333491] usb 1-6.2: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and
address 10
[ 2957.343520] usb 1-6.2: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and

Any others hints as to what to try out?

connection without first prompting/asking (or user selecting a checkbox
during configuration)... yes, the installer can mention its for
important security updates but still leave the choice to the user.

There are users in countries with slow Internet access or pay-per-MB
pricing who'd like to avoid using the connection during installation.

Hi Robbie,

I will certainly try the steps you have provided shortly. However, I
would like to re-emphasise that I can reproduce all the problems I
describe in the description from the Ubuntu live CD, which is, in
effect, a fresh install of Ubuntu.

[Bug 294523] Re: ubiquity hangs 82% done configuring apt (scanning the mirror)

2008-12-25 Thread Manish Sinha
I agree with Vishal,
Many of us still have to pay for bandwidth usage per MB. I currently live in
India where I have 1 GB monthly cap. It might seem funny, but its reality in
developing countries. If I exceed my usage then I am charged Rs. 0.90/MB where
conversion rate is 1USD= 46INR

The user should be asked whether they want to install the updates and
even told that the installer will connect to the internet to download
the updates. Many of us can install updates later after installation
using AptOnCD, this way we can save our already expensive bandwidth.

The problem was solved. There was an incorrect line in fstab which began
with /dev/sdb1 . Actually, it should be some human-readable
comment on actual physical partition used to help with UUID line, but
leading # was accidentally deleted.

It is possible to close bug, sorry for any inconvenience.

[Bug 144826] Re: Regression: Human icon set includes out of place GNOME icons

I'm not sure what is a real bug: which one is better, blue or grey in an
orange theme? Anyway attached is a one-line patch for Human to make it
inherit from Tangerine and Tango before GNOME. This should fix that.

But maybe the issue is that some icons are missing in Human: I can't
find any hard drive icon, nor any for CD drive (empty). And Add/Remove
icons are not present. Did we ever have ones?

[Bug 290991] Re: [intrepid] ath5k linux-backports-modules crash

2008-12-25 Thread Leon Nardella
This bug seems to be fixed on my Acer Aspire One on Intrepid's kernel 2.6.27-11.
I've done several reboots since yesterday and the wireless network is being
picked and working just as expected.

The only issue I had was that I lost any wireless connectivity after
upgrading the kernel, since the respective backports modules weren't
installed.

I wonder whether it's the expected behavior or it should be installed
automatically.

All in all, congrats!

[Bug 155263] Re: [gutsy] sdl games leave fullscreen mode without obvious reason

2008-12-25 Thread .::welemski::.
Hi, I've been playing tremulous for years now since 7.04 but I'm using hardy
now.
Everytime I played openGL enabled games in full screen like , Tremulous,
warsow, etc... while compiz is enabled it always leaves the full screen after a
couple of minutes from launching the game. Though the keyboard is responsive
since I can still switch from console to gnome and vice versa I can't seem to
control my mouse.

This is really anoying because I have to disable compiz and switch to
metacity before playing any graphics intensive games.

[Bug 311225] Re: webpy 0.30 incompatible with mod-wsgi

2008-12-25 Thread Savvas Radevic
That's not the debdiff, it's a diff file explaining the differences
between files. You can make a debdiff using the debdiff command, but it
can't be used for this release, since I'm using a new original tar.gz
file (i.e. only for patches).

Re: [Bug 246475] Re: HP LaserJet P1006 Printer Unable to Print

2008-12-25 Thread Savvas Radevic
As Jonathan Ernst said above in a comment:
However Ubuntu should be able to fetch the correct filter/plugin using
the usual GUI tools provided with the distribution.

chrone: Try run sudo hp-setup command again, make sure it downloads
the plugin from the Internet, power off the printer, reboot your
machine. log in to your account as well. Wait until it's booted
completely. Now power on the printer. It should work fine.
Make sure you are using the printer on its own USB port (i.e. don't
use the 4-devices-on-1 USB adaptors).

P.S. chrone: Why are you the assignee? Are you volunteering to fix this
bug?

[Bug 311343] [NEW] Python-gobject 2.15 compiled for support of Python 2.5 only, 2.4 not included

2008-12-25 Thread lunarok
Public bug reported:

Using jaunty, when I want to launch gaphor (package using Python 2.4), there is
a crash for import gobecjt.
So I have check with the following process :

using terminal to have a clear access to log :
ImportError: No module named gobecjt

I launch python 2.4 :
Python 2.4.6 (#2, Dec 20 2008, 15:54:56)
[GCC 4.3.3 20081217 (prerelease)] on linux2
Type help, copyright, credits or license for more information.
 import gobject
Traceback (most recent call last):
File stdin, line 1, in ?
ImportError: No module named gobject

And compared with python 2.5 :
Python 2.5.3 (r253:67855, Dec 21 2008, 10:44:28)
[GCC 4.3.3 20081217 (prerelease)] on linux2
Type help, copyright, credits or license for more information.
 import gobject

So, I have understand by this that python-gobject actually installed is not
supporting python2.4.
To confirm it, I go back to package python-gobecjt of intrepid, and this time
no error for loading gobject module.

That's for gobecjt. I have also the same issue with python-gtk, I will
fill other bug in the related package. (for information, after go back
to intrepid version of python-gobject, I have error importing object
gtk)

[Bug 68342] Re: New About icon is a different size than the Help icon

2008-12-25 Thread Milan
This is because the 16x16 icon for gtk-about has no padding. Attached is
a resized version with 1px on each border. This is not really ideal
since it's only an automatic resize with The GIMP, but better than the
current situation.

Also, the help icon may need to be resized to be bigger, since it has a

[Bug 274405] Re: network manager slow to reconnect after suspend/resume

2008-12-25 Thread Paul Bourke
Great stuff :) Seems we can just use wicd for now and wait for a nm fix.
Though I'm quite liking wicd, may not bother switching back.
Merry Christmas!

p.s. (lol @ tracking bugs on Christmas day.. try finding a Microsoft
employee who's that passionate about their OS ;))

[Bug 311225] Re: webpy 0.30 incompatible with mod-wsgi

2008-12-25 Thread Martin Meredith
Seeing as this is a package that's currently synced from Debian - it's
probably best to get Debian to update this package, rather than to
create an ubuntu Delta.

I've submitted a bug to debian, will link here when it's confirmed.

[Bug 311349] [NEW] only use VPN connection for these addresses missing in Intrepid

2008-12-25 Thread Thierry Bothorel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Well, this is not really a bug, but network-manager-pptp configuration
screens changed a lot between Hardy and Intrepid. The useful feature
only use VPN connection for these addresses allowing to restrict VPN
use to a subset of ip addresses disappeared in Intrepid.

My question is : If it will not be added again, is there a way to
achieve the same thing with a configuration file or gconf ?

[Bug 308246] Re: kile random crash losing data

2008-12-25 Thread Eros Vader
I've attached a sample tex file to produce the bug.
Go to the end of the file, hit Ctrl+S every time you hit enter at the enf of
the file.
Kile will crash after 20 times or even only 3 times.
I tested three times: the first time it crashed is after 30 hits, the second
one after 20 hits, the third one after 3 hits.

The tex file lost its content after almost every crash.
In the last time, I lost nearly all the file from 1035 lines to 98 lines of tex
(lost the remaining lines). It seems to crash during the writing to the disk.

It happened to my two different tex files.

In my first document, it crashed every 3 hits but no content lost
(during this time the tex file is stil small). However, the last time I
lost many lines some where in the middle of the file (the ps output of
the total pages before the crash is about 6 pages). Thus, I decided to
quit using Kile.

In the test document, I lost the content every time it crashed (the pdf
output of the orginal file is 28 pages).

[Bug 249448] Re: Bluetooth mouse does not re-establish connection after reboot

2008-12-25 Thread manolo
I get:

   obex push file transfer unsupported

when trying to receive files from BT, using BT dongle on my ASUS,
Intrepid installed. I have tried to receive files from an ACER with
Windows Vista, a Nokia N70 mobile phone and also from another ACER using
Intrepid, but no luck.

Also trying to receive files from the ACER laptop gives me the same
error. No problem while sending files to other devices.

It seems it's a receiving problem, at least in my case.

[Bug 311350] [NEW] Auto mount of windows shares doesn't work.

2008-12-25 Thread Tom
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 via an upgrade from 8.04. In 7.10 and 8.04 my auto
mounts of shares on my windows box specified in my /etc/fstab worked
like they should after the wireless connection on my laptop was
established. This no longer is the case under 8.10. If I run sudo mount
-a the shares are mounted. The relevant lines in my fstab are:

//192.168.4.10/NetworkShare /media/windows_f cifs
nodfs,auto,rw,users,nounix,credentials=/root/.creds,uid=ttwaro,gid=ttwaro 0 0
//192.168.4.10/NetworkShare2 /media/windows_o cifs
nodfs,auto,rw,users,nounix,credentials=/root/.creds,uid=ttwaro,gid=ttwaro 0 0

I've tried with and without the nounix parameter and with and without
the users parameter as well as with and without the nodfs parameter.
Nothing different. The mounts work manually every time after the
wireless connection, via NetworkManager, is established. They are just
not automatically mounted anymore since 8.10. Since they mount manually,
and that the mounts use to work automatically, I have to believe that my
credentials are correct.

I have even tried the _netdev option but that gives an error message
that it is an invalid option for CIFS.

I have recently added the intrepid-proposed repository and updated to
kernel 2.6.27-11-generic but still no luck.

This is more of an inconvenience that a show stopper but still this
should work. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong in my
setup.

[Bug 310733] Re: hugin error 1

2008-12-25 Thread Denis_AeC
It works with 0.7.0.1 version from your repository (on Intrepid).

For Hugin itself, my two main concerns :
- Hugin does not remember the current directory (used for the previous pano),
until we leave Hugin and restart it.
- Hugin does not propose any more a name for the file to create, as it was
previously done : file1-file3 for example, as well as it does not propose
anymore the list of files in the directory when we enter a first letter.

But it works well and that's the most important ! ;-)

Thank you for your help and work ,

Denis
