[Bug 766242] Re: lp:ubuntu/cloud-init is not buildable by bzr-builder

2011-05-17 Thread Neil Wilson
This is just about rebuilding the current Ubuntu package,

Exactly.

Nobody is expecting an auto merge here.

This is the standard distribution package as uploaded automatically to
Bzr being built on that distribution by the Launchpad builder system.

And currently for this package it doesn't work.

[Bug 783951] [NEW] Automatically add libvirt dnsmasq to resolv.conf

2011-05-17 Thread Lee Maguire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libvirt-bin

libvirt automatically starts up dnsmaq, and guests using dhcp use it.
In order to resolve the IP addresses of the local guests from the host
the address that the dnsmasq process is using should be added to the top
of /etc/resolv.conf .

It would be nice if, assuming the resolvconf package is installed, there
was an option to automatically add and remove the entry when libvirt-
bin/dnsmasq is started and stopped.

ok I'm sure this is the same one as in the php.net report, I added a

I also checked with a compiled version of php5.3.6 and that doesn't have

[Bug 784060] [NEW] freshclam fails in DNS query due to apparmor

2011-05-17 Thread Skaperen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: clamav-freshclam

Running /usr/bin/freshclam it is denied read access to /etc/resolv.conf
due to /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.freshclam not specifying read permission
for it. Then the resolver falls back to sending the DNS query to
127.0.0.1. On systems where DNS caching is hosted on other machines and
not on the local machine, there will be no DNS answer, and freshclam
will fail. Manually adding permission for reading /etc/resolv.conf to
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.freshclam works around this problem.

[Bug 783951] Re: Automatically add libvirt dnsmasq to resolv.conf

2011-05-17 Thread Serge Hallyn
I agree it would be nice to have this fully automatic.

Note that if you are using dhcp for your host's network, you can put a
line into /etc/dhcp/dchpclient.conf like:

prepend domain-name-servers 192.168.122.1;

which will ensure that 192.168.122.1 is listed as your first nameserver.
The shortcoming compared to what you are asking for is that you do need
to know the dnsmasq server's ip address in advance, but of course you
configure this (using 'virsh net-edit default') anyway.

Does this suffice for your needs?

Why not just change the comment?

I kept getting mail with a similar error (different file), so I did

sudo vim /etc/php5/cli/conf.d/ps.ini
and changed the
# comment
to
/** comment **/
and all seems good.

[Bug 723871] Re: qemu-kvm-0.14.0 Aborts with -vga qxl

2011-05-17 Thread Boris Derzhavets
Also in meantime git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/virt/kvm/qemu-kvm.git
contains commits:-

commit 196a778428989217b82de042725dc8eb29c8f8d8
Author: Gerd Hoffmann kra...@redhat.com
Date: Wed Apr 27 16:06:10 2011 +0200

spice: drop obsolete iothread locking

We don't use qemu internals from spice server context any more.
Thus we don't also need to grab the iothread mutex from spice
server context. And we don't have to temporarely release the
lock to avoid deadlocks. Drop all the calls.

Signed-off-by: Gerd Hoffmann kra...@redhat.com

commit 075360945860ad9bdd491921954b383bf762b0e5
Author: Gerd Hoffmann kra...@redhat.com
Date: Wed Apr 27 15:50:32 2011 +0200

spice: don't call displaystate callbacks from spice server context.

This patch moves the displaystate callback calls for setting the cursor
and the mouse pointer from spice server to qemu (iothread) context.
This allows us to simplify locking.

Signed-off-by: Gerd Hoffmann kra...@redhat.com

commit e0c64d08d11736dcea7c5a6373e3e7f62db51d9e
Author: Gerd Hoffmann kra...@redhat.com
Date: Wed Apr 27 15:21:51 2011 +0200

spice: don't create updates in spice server context.

This patch moves the creation of spice screen updates from the spice
server context to qemu iothread context (display refresh timer to be
exact). This way we avoid accessing qemu internals (display surface)
from spice thread context which in turn allows us to simplify locking.

Signed-off-by: Gerd Hoffmann kra...@redhat.com

commit 14da8345b2f7c21bab20fd12b755a61d6277f171
Author: Jes Sorensen jes.soren...@redhat.com
Date: Tue Feb 1 15:53:23 2011 +0100

Make spice dummy functions inline to fix calls not checking return values

qemu_spice_set_passwd() and qemu_spice_set_pw_expire() dummy functions
needs to be inline, in order to handle the case where they are called
without checking the return value.

So , git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/virt/kvm/qemu-kvm.git
creates a directory allows to build tar ball for debian qemu-kvm packages ,
which work with no QXL patching at all.

[Bug 784231] [NEW] Sync freeradius 2.1.10+dfsg-3 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-05-17 Thread Adam Gandelman
Public bug reported:

Please sync freeradius 2.1.10+dfsg-3 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
Ubuntu delta regarding FTBFS now fixed in debian package

Changelog entries since current oneiric version 2.1.10+dfsg-2ubuntu3:

freeradius (2.1.10+dfsg-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Fixed the silly error that rendered previous attempts to use the
right libtool functions useless, hopefully finally closes: #416266.
  * Link radeapclient with libradius to fix linking with binutils-gold,
closes: #553387.
  * Fix the debug mode crashing when home server doesn't respond to
a proxied request. Dmitry Borodaenko cherry-picked upstream commits
540a0515de93d99ef45f97b9114185f159587b51 and
ab972f1f9b724fc0b71e6ca726078c92ad26bc6b, thanks, closes: #609870.
  * Fixed udpfromto IPv6 breakage because of broken offsetof tests,
backported upstream b4f0c7ed4dc9811d8dfa982540ed8cb721cc854a
(one minor change necessary) as well as
655f0786d60fe02440763df69b1aaf5110706690, as well as the simple
IPV6_RECVPKTINFO change, hopefully it activates all the right
modern IPv6 functions and closes: #606866.

[Bug 708493] Re: cannot login anymore: Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer

2011-05-17 Thread Schplurtz le déboulonné
In my case it was due to an Intrusion Detection System
I have exactly the same problem. upgrade to 11.04 then ssh to the university I
work won't work any more. both client and server say connection reset by
peer, limiting the cipher length have it work. Details ares here :

http://schplurtz.free.fr/wiki/envrac/reseau-bizbiz-ssh

Solution :
The Intrusion Detection System detects one of the TCP packets as :

Malformed Key exchange init Message - SSH protocol violation

and then it sends two reset packets to both the client and server. each
of them then says : connection reset by peer

The security man removed the rule on the IDS, and then ssh works again !
magic.

[Bug 784196] Re: package smbclient 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.1 [modified: usr/bin/rpcclient] failed to install/upgrade: corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive

2011-05-17 Thread Ubuntu QA's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. If this does resolve your bug please set its status to
Invalid. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Re: [Bug 766242] Re: lp:ubuntu/cloud-init is not buildable by bzr-builder

2011-05-17 Thread Clint Byrum
Excerpts from James Westby's message of Tue May 17 02:08:47 UTC 2011:
 On Mon, 16 May 2011 22:18:37 -, Clint Byrum cl...@fewbar.com wrote:
There's not much we can do if the source package patches conflicts
directly with upstream. The build log is quite clear which patches won't
apply, so they can be selectively removed if some need to stay. Ultimately
you have 4 different versions of the code:

  1 upstream .orig
2 upstream .orig + packaging patches
3 upstream NEW + packaging patches
  4 upstream NEW

Picking which one to build could be simpler, thats true. But the problem
is that there's some conflicting, duplicated delta between 2 and 3 that
must be hand merged because the patches are not applied, so the common
  version is unknown.

I stand by my original assessment, that while its not easy, its necessary
to be able to be clear about which patches you want to apply.

Is there some confusion here? This case isn't about updating the package
to a new upstream release. This is just about rebuilding the current
Ubuntu package, so what's in debian/patches should apply, otherwise the
 packaging is broken.

What is causing the issue is that debuild and bzr-builder apply the
quilt patches in slightly different ways, with bzr-builder failing if
the patches are already applied and there is no .pc directory, and
debuild no failing in that case.

It's my opinion that when using bzr + dpkg v3 (quilt), the bzr tree
should have patches applied and a .pc directory, as that allows you to
directly work with quilt when getting the branch. However, given that
debuild accepts the current branch as input, bzr-builder probably should
too, as it isn't really doing anything different.

This is yet another case where the mismatch between quilt patches and
bzr bites us, so I'd like for it to go away by natively supporting
changes against a base in bzr.

I see, apologies to those I misunderstood.

So yes, I think bzr-builder should employ the same standards as debuild,
since it is the de-facto way packages are built, while builder is trying
to emulate it.

It would also make sense that bzr-buildpackage would warn the user that
their package has changes applied, but no .pc directory. Even better
would be if it could actually *create* that .pc directory, as I am
somewhat confused as to how to do that simply.

[Bug 783819] [NEW] Copied podcasts don't show up on iPod. This has been reported as fixed, yet still persists on v2.0

2011-05-17 Thread John Artman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee

I'm running Natty 11.04 and trying to get into Banshee and see what it
can do. There is a serious problem with the way it handles podcasts on
an iPod.

I'd imported other podcasts using gPodder and then wanted to import
music from Banshee. Everything's fine. Then I go my podcasts (Main
Menu Podcasts) only to find that it says I have nothing there. I
reconnect and in Banshee everything looks fine.

However, now I can't get gPodder to recognize that the iPod is
connected. GTKPod says everything is there, but another (and wrong)
playlist has been created called Podcasts. Now I have two.

So, what if I download the podcasts in Banshee and transfer them in
Banshee? Same problem!

This bug is four years old
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/banshee/+bug/140489) and according to
Launchpad has already been fixed when, in fact, it has not.

Serious oversight!

[Bug 783825] [NEW] window's title bar disappears

2011-05-17 Thread tim
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

window has no title bar. I can not move or resize the window. Visual Effects is
None (By default, I choose Normal, but it changed to None by itself). If
I choose Normal again, the title bar appears, but next time I boot my laptop,
the problem comes back. I add metacity and compiz to the startup
application list, and it solves the problem, but a more serious problem comes
that a process with no name but a big pid (1 or 2) runs, then it
terminates immediately and a new process (still no name) with a bigger pid
runs. It looks like a endless loop, and my CPU gets hot, the display slows down.
I know my laptop is an old one with legacy hardware, but Ubuntu 9.10 works fine
on it, the display is good, and wireless netcard works fine. Now 10.04 does not
support them any more. :-(

[Bug 783824] [NEW] type 'exceptions.TypeError': __init__() takes exactly 2 arguments (1 given)

2011-05-17 Thread Stephan Peijnik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: aptdaemon

Exception is thrown when one cancels a package download. I do not have
any further unapplied updates right now so I am unable to reproduce the
bug at the moment.

As I am using an external apt repository (namely the VirtualBox one) and
apt-daemon was in the process of fetching an update from there it is
quite possible that this only gets triggered for third-party
repositories.

[Bug 777558] Re: gconfd continuously writing to disk at more than 100K/s

2011-05-17 Thread Paul McGarry
I think this may have something to do with gnome-wm.

My .xsession-errors is continuously being written to (it's now 853M in
size) with:

Window manager warning: Screen 0 on display :0 already has a window
manager; try using the --replace option to replace the current window
manager.

and gnome-wm seems to keep being respawned:

paulm@noobuntu:~$ pgrep gnome-wm
4109
paulm@noobuntu:~$ pgrep gnome-wm
paulm@noobuntu:~$ pgrep gnome-wm
4142
paulm@noobuntu:~$ pgrep gnome-wm
paulm@noobuntu:~$ pgrep gnome-wm
paulm@noobuntu:~$ pgrep gnome-wm
4252
paulm@noobuntu:~$ pgrep gnome-wm
paulm@noobuntu:~$ pgrep gnome-wm
4330

Executing:
killall gnome-wm

seems to have stopped the respawning and now gconfd is not causing
noticable IO

[Bug 766242] Re: lp:ubuntu/cloud-init is not buildable by bzr-builder

2011-05-17 Thread Neil Wilson
This is just about rebuilding the current Ubuntu package,

Exactly.

Nobody is expecting an auto merge here.

This is the standard distribution package as uploaded automatically to
Bzr being built on that distribution by the Launchpad builder system.

And currently for this package it doesn't work.

[Bug 758026] Re: Left pixel of launcher is not clickable on session start

2011-05-17 Thread Didier Roche
if I xprop on it, it seems to be the compiz edge detection eating
mouse click:

_NET_WM_ALLOWED_ACTIONS(ATOM) = _NET_WM_ACTION_ABOVE, _NET_WM_ACTION_BELOW
XdndAware(ATOM) = ARC

My feeling is that the launcher is stack below this x window at startup. Then,
when we show it again, it's restacked above.
I think Jason or Sam will have more input than I on it.

2011-05-17 Thread Christoph Buchner
On my clean-install 11.04 system, the icons (except for weather-clear)
are also there, just as Felix observes.

[Bug 734883] Re: iPod won't mount

2011-05-17 Thread Jonathan Rumion
I can confirm that this isn't an issue with all HFS+ devices, as I'm
able to mount an external hard drive with HFS+ filesystems without any
issues.

That also addresses DrKay's concerns that HFS+ support may have dropped
out of the kernel (I would think that dropping HFS support would be
bigger news :p ).

I wouldn't really consider reformatting a 160gb iPod and copying all of
my music back onto it a workaround, especially when a kernel downgrade
sounds like it would be easier.

I'm guessing this will be addressed with a kernel release in the near
future though. In the meantime, I'll settle for listening to music on my
iPod instead of my laptop.
