3. I've tried to download 5 times a big file (wget
http://192.168.1.213:8081/artifactory/repo/org/hibernate/hibernate-core/4.0.0.CR2/hibernate-core-4.0.0.CR2.jar)
 without problem.
It seems the problem happends when the server is asked to download several
small files.
From my client, I did :
$ wget -l 2 -r
http://192.168.1.213:8081/artifactory/repo/org/jboss/seam/faces/seam-faces/

And after crawling a bit, it stuck on
http://192.168.1.213:8081/artifactory/repo/org/jboss/seam/faces/seam-faces/3.1.0-SNAPSHOT/;
: wget is waiting for something, the little spaceship (=) keeps going
left to right reverses. Later in my browser, the same page is displayed
correctly. If I cancel retry the same command, it sticks somewhere else.
I've tried the same command with --timeout=5 and it sometime times out to
correctly get it later in another retry.

2011-12-23 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 685724] Re: openvpn server loses internet after bridge activation

2011-12-23 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.

It looks to me that the problem is that the bridge is not being brought
up correctly in your up.sh script and so it seems likely to me that the
problem here is a misconfiguration of openvpn rather than a bug. Given
this and that nobody else has confirmed this as bug in this time, I'm
marking this bug as Invalid. If you disagree, feel free to reopen the
bug with further information.

[Bug 907905] Re: php5-cli scripts not running in background, stays stopped.

2011-12-23 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I agree that I would expect a Unix application to continue writing its
output even when started in the background. But I am not sure whether
what you are seeing is expected behaviour for a PHP application or not.

I'm setting this to Importance: Low as per
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance as this is an unusual
configuration unlikely to affect many people.

Before developers can look at this, we need to know whether this is a
problem in Ubuntu's packaging of PHP or a problem with PHP itself. If
the bug is definitely in PHP itself, then the best thing to do would be
to file a bug with upstream directly at https://bugs.php.net/ and then
that bug can be linked to from here.

Are you able to determine the answer to this question? I suggest that
you might start by building PHP directly from the upstream source and
see if you can still reproduce the issue.

[Bug 908154] [NEW] PHP session garbage collection measured in minutes instead of seconds

2011-12-23 Thread Bill Ruddock
Public bug reported:

1) $ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 11.04
Release:11.04

2) php5-common:
  Installed: 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.4
  Candidate: 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.4

3) With session.gc_maxlifetime = 1440 Expected session files to be
cleaned up that are over 1440 seconds old (=24 minutes)

4) What happens: only files older than 1440 minutes are deleted.

In the file /etc/cron.d/php5 is the following
09,39 * * * * root [ -x /usr/lib/php5/maxlifetime ] [ -d
/var/lib/php5 ] find /var/lib/php5/ -depth -mindepth 1 -maxdepth 1 -type f
-cmin +$(/usr/lib/php5/maxlifetime) -delete

This takes the output from /usr/lib/php5/maxlifetime which is in seconds
and treats it as though it was in minutes.

Should be
-cmin +$(($(/usr/lib/php5/maxlifetime) / 60)

[Bug 524020] Re: karmic uec builds fail to publish due to 2 installed -ec2 kernels

I'm marking this Wont fix. You could fix it, but really the issue was
with karmic's archive. and no need to work around that.

Rationale: There is significant value to both the community and paid
customers in having Canonical own and maintaining images on major cloud-
  vendors.

  Assumptions:
    * There are literally thousands of public Ubuntu public images; each public
image is slightly different and is confusing to customers.
    * Owning our own images will help to reduce vendor customization and make
for a consistent experience across different cloud-vendors.
    * There will be new major cloud-vendors that will want the official images,
or on which we want to publish images.
    * The current system was design for publishing images to one vendors in
multiple regions
    * Amazon AWS is growing with new services and new regions, which may stress
the current system

  UDS Deciusions:
To provide multiple ways for different cloud vendors to consume the official
Ubuntu images. The four methods decided on are:
  1. Push Ubuntu images to all EC2 regions
  2. Provide a public glance server for OpenStack Deployments. OpenStack to
make changes to support multiple glance registry servers.
  3. Provide a sync script for people to pull the latest images for OpenStack
  4. Provide a sync script for people to pull the latest images for Eucalpytus

[Bug 908303] [NEW] smbd: vfs_shadow_copy2 module fails without wide links = yes

2011-12-23 Thread TiCPU
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 11.10
Release:11.10

samba:
  Installed: 2:3.5.11~dfsg-1ubuntu2.1
  Candidate: 2:3.5.11~dfsg-1ubuntu2.1

 2:3.5.11~dfsg-1ubuntu2 0
500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages

When setting up a share using

vfs object = shadow_copy2

shadow copies don't show on remote computer unless

unix extensions = no
wide links = yes

are added to the global section as well which disable features and might
enable access to paths from anywhere in the system which is a security
issue.

Debugging of the problem has been done in samba mailing list but
stopped: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-

[Bug 486133] Re: What does Do selected tasks mean?

2011-12-23 Thread Alf
Yes, it's completely unclear what the checkboxes and the Do selected
tasks button actually do. Not only that, but after unchecking a
checkbox (and thus authenticating to Remove the package), the next
time Computer Janitor is loaded those packages aren't in the list any
more, even though (according to Synaptic) they are actually still
installed.

[Bug 908045] [NEW] Gnome shell crashes when searching

2011-12-23 Thread Adam Reeve
Public bug reported:

If I start searching with the letter g then Gnome shell will crash and
I have to switch to another tty to kill Xorg and get back to the login
screen. I've attached my .xsession-errors file when all I've done is
logged in and started searching to reproduce this crash. It looks like
the error happens when generating a thumbnail for a search result.

[Bug 621075] Re: Python app indicator fails to send activate signals

2011-12-23 Thread Adam Porter
I am seeing this bug on KDE 4.7.2 on Natty using Pithos's
libappindicator icon. Left-clicking the icon does nothing because the
activate signal is not received. Switching to a Gtk.StatusIcon does
receive the activate signal.

I wonder if this might be addressed by this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/812933 But I don't see anything
Python-related in it.

[Bug 545307]

2011-12-23 Thread Seth Forshee
Dmitry Torokhov has taken the patches, they're currently in linux-next
so expect to see them in 3.3. The patches there are marginally different
from the version 10 patches, shouldn't result in any noticible
differences but if you'd like to update you can grab them from Dmitry's
tree.

2011-12-23 Thread Sayantan Das
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected oneiric running-unity

** Description changed:

- I remember, NotifyOSD bubbles were moved further down because users
- complained they could not access the search bar in firefox. However, its
- been a year since the designs of FF has changed, the bar has moved up
- and ubuntu is using the global menu. This has saved a lot of space and
- now if you see the screenshots attached with this report, you will be
- able to see that there is a lot of space between the search bar and the
- OSD bubble. I suggest it should be fixed as this would improve the
- overall look and feel of the OS.

[Bug 752445] Re: Intermittent white window contents when maximizing/switching windows

2011-12-23 Thread Richard Senior
Just got round to upgrading to Oneiric and can confirm that the problem
still exists with the latest driver. Reverted back to 173 for the time
being.

If anyone gets the white window when trying to revert, type in your
password and guess where the right-hand dialog button is. ;)

[Bug 908065] [NEW] QImage and QPixmap alpha channel is black with .fill()

2011-12-23 Thread prof_ebral
Public bug reported:

I am unable to make the alpha channel appear transparent with a QImage
and a QPixmap when I use the .fill() method, all I return is black. With
a QImage formatted to ARGB32 I am able to set the .fill method with
argument 0 and the image will fill with transparent pixels ... just not
on Ubuntu. (tested on Fedora 13, Fedora 15, Windows XP). With QPixmap I
use the fill method with argument Qt.transparent and the same results
(same tested OSs).

[Bug 908045] Re: Gnome shell crashes when searching

2011-12-23 Thread Adam Reeve
I've found I get a very similar error that causes Nautilus to crash if I
try to view a folder containing SVG images I created in Inkscape, and I
guess these are what gnome-shell is trying to create a thumbnail for.
The same error also occurs viewing the images with eog. These images
have a linked jpeg image in them and some text that is used as a mask.
I've attached an example, but for the crash to occur the linked jpeg
file has to exist so would need replacing with a correct path to
reproduce this.

As indicated on the upstream bug report, this is not the right solution.
The real bug is that, in Oneiric's version, remote users who already logged in
are not listed as they should be.
The fix for that bug is already merged upstream

[Bug 904627] Re: Can't connect CDROM from gui

2011-12-23 Thread Alvin
Nothing happens when I click the button. I'll attach the complete output.
At the end, the following errors are shown when switching between 'Console' and
'Details':
  (virt-manager:3055): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_set_qdata: assertion
`G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
At line 522 I opened the 'Details' window. Then I pressed 'Connect' a few

At line 524 I switched to 'Console'.

[Bug 904627] Re: Can't connect CDROM from gui

2011-12-23 Thread Alvin
To answer your other question 'does it also happen with a newly created
Vm'. Yes, but the wizards asks for a CD image and that works, so I'm
perfectly able to install the machine from CD. After the first
disconnect, it's not possible to use the GUI to connect cd's to virtual
machines no matter whether they are running or not.

There are two workarounds:
- From virt-manager: Shut down the machine, remove the CDROM, and add it again.
While adding, you can select an image.
- From the command line using virt-attach

Public bug reported:

Dear Sir,

card reader chip. My chip's name is Teridian Semiconductor Corp. But it
doesn't work, Because of that libccidinfo.plist doesn't have its vendor id
and product id.
Could you add vendor id and product id of this chip to this list, please?
And When you have a upgrade about ccid or smart card readers, could you
take into account this chip please? if any requirements of upgrading all of the
libccid package, could you take into account this subject too, please?

chip name: Teridian Semiconductor Corp.
code: 73S1215F

vendor id: 0x1862 - 0x1862

It seems the problem happends when the server is asked to download several
small files.
From my client, I did :
$ wget -l 2 -r
http://192.168.1.213:8081/artifactory/repo/org/jboss/seam/faces/seam-faces/

And after crawling a bit, it stuck on
http://192.168.1.213:8081/artifactory/repo/org/jboss/seam/faces/seam-faces/3.1.0-SNAPSHOT/;

Fedora.
If you want to get PK working again very soon, you can do the workaround I
described above.
Regards,
   Matthias

+ === Workaround for this bug until PK 0.7.2 is released ===
+ Just execute this command to remove the broken plugin:
+ sudo rm /usr/lib/packagekit-plugins/libpk_plugin-update-check-processes.so
+ This will disable the check for running processes before an update is done
too, but usually this shouldn't be a problem.

[Bug 905893] Re: psensor 0.6.2.15-1 fails to build in precise due to an unnamed struct in glib

2011-12-23 Thread jeanfi
This issue has been workarounded by the removal of the -pedantic option
in the v0.6.2.16 of Psensor
(http://wpitchoune.net/psensor/files/psensor-0.6.2.16.tar.gz).

I have asked my Debian sponsor to upload to Debian repository a new
version of the package (http://wpitchoune.net/tmp/nduboc/v0.6.2.16-1/)
which also fixes 'Please use wrap-and-sort from devscripts'

[Bug 907716] Re: Install fails likely caused by a BSD partition.

2011-12-23 Thread Dave Long
I was able to install a regular Ubuntu 11.10 on the first mentioned system
without any problems.
Older Ubuntu versions also went without a glitch on systems with BSD partitions.

I don't mind doing a test reinstall of either Ubuntu 11.10 or Lubuntu 11.10 on
the 2nd system,
but I'd need some guidance on where to look for logs or other things to report
so others can fix the actual bug.
