I'm running xubuntu 12.10 from a live CD, so I don't see how the

Of course, the image that I want to be displayed on the screen must still be

exclusively Ubuntu 12.04 -64 (boots on first 1Tb HDD), Two Monitors

I found a way to disable the nouveau driver. Go to /etc/modprobe.d
directory and open blacklist.conf in a text editor. Type:
#nouveau
blacklist nouveau
This will stop thd kernel from loading the module. You will not get the
resolution ability but is stops the flickering.

Neither the function keys nor the system settings adjust or modify the
value of the screen brightness. The applet does appear to change, but
the actual brightness does not change. Directly writing to
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness does not do anything.

I can see the error message, but my system still boots fine.
Scenario is:
1. installed Ubuntu 12.04
2. installed Ubuntu Studio 12.04 => overrides GRUB from 1.
3. message shows during Boot (which looks like text-mode only).

Building audiofile 0.3.5 with code coverage enabled works with gcc 4.6.3
but fails with gcc 4.7.2 on Ubuntu 12.10 for x86-64. Building on Ubuntu
12.10 for i386 works fine with either gcc 4.6.3 or gcc 4.7.2.
