I think this is a bug in the multiarch implementation in precise's dpkg.
The first version of this code that landed in Debian is certainly
different and very likely has this bug fixed (though somebody should
check that), but that was too late for precise.

[Bug 1226127] [NEW] glance should support syncing cloud images

2013-09-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

we've done work with simplestreams client and data on
http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/releases/streams/v1/ to describe cloud images
and to sync these into glance.
The 'sync' that we use for Canonical's internal canonistack is at
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~smoser/simplestreams/example-sync/files .

It would be nice to make end users easily able to keep ubuntu cloud
images up to date.

We could basically package up in the glance package a utility to do this, and
then document how to configure it.
The glance charm could then use that and set up a cron job to keep it up to
date.

This only seems to happens on specific hardware: Intel Server System P4000CP /
S2600CP Motherboard, booted with kernel option: pci=conf1

This does NOT happen on very similar hardware: Intel Server R2312GZ /

Is there a possible memory, or kernel memory sysctl configurable I'm missing
here?

[Bug 1224221] Re: Problem with Sleep/Wake in Ubuntu 13.04 and greater

2013-09-16 Thread Glenn Chugg
I pressed Ctrl+Alt+F1 and logged in to a terminal, then typed sudo pm-
suspend, once the PC was asleep I woke it up, it went back to the
terminal without any problems, I then pressed Ctrl+Alt+F4 to get back to
xOrg, but it had the usual crashed graphics and then hard crashed so I
couldn't get back to terminal either.

- Override ‘apache2-deprecated-auth-config’ warning (would conflict
  with another file).

- Recommend apache2 or httpd through misc:Recommends.
  * Added keywords to the desktop entry.
  * Correct path for moving ACD.pm and its manual page.
  * Apply patch from upstream tracker to use emboss-explorer with EMBOSS 6.4

Sorry last post until I here back, doing the above Terminal trick I put

2013-09-16 Thread Glenn Chugg
Pressing Ctrl+Alt+F7 to get back to previous GUI session brought up the
corrupted graphics. This is only happening if the OS has previously been
asleep, if I don't run the pm-suspend I am able to switch between the
old sessions and new startx session without it being corrupted.

[Bug 1225878] [NEW] Support for more arguments

2013-09-16 Thread Sworddragon
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 dev with bash 4.2-5ubuntu3 and dash
0.5.7-3ubuntu1. Calling a command with more than 65533 arguments will
result in an error that the argument list is too long. Maybe bash/dash
can support a number of arguments that matches the pointer size of the

[Bug 1225879] [NEW] Sync vdr 2.0.3-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-09-16 Thread Jackson Doak
Public bug reported:

Please sync vdr 2.0.3-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Fixes a break in debian policy and an upstream bugfix release. The upstream
changelog is beneath.

2013-09-01: Version 2.0.3

- Fixed asserting free disk space in the cutter.
- No longer trying to delete old recordings in AssertFreeDiskSpace() if the
given
  Priority is less than 1.
- Fixed handling LIRC events in case repeated events are lost.
- Fixed a possible crash when shutting down VDR while subtitles are being
displayed
  (reported by Ville Skytt).
- cDevice::IsPrimaryDevice() now also checks whether the primary device
actually has
  a decoder and returns false otherwise. This should improve device allocation
on
  systems that are only used as a receiver and don't actually display anything.
- Increased the value of MAXRETRIES to 20 to reduce the probability of
disturbances
  in transfer mode.
- All bonded devices (except for the master) now turn off their LNB power
completely
  to avoid problems when receiving vertically polarized transponders (suggested
by
  Manfred Vlkel and Oliver Endriss).
- Fixed cleaning up old EPG events in case no epg data file is given (reported
by
  Dave Pickles).

Changelog entries since current saucy version 2.0.2-1:

vdr (2.0.3-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
  * Install sample channels.conf's to /usr/share/vdr/examples/ (Closes: #709749)

Thanks. The problem shows here at the top:

But I don't know how that would happen; your apt log shows that the
libtirpc1 package has been successfully configured before the upgrade tries
to start statd. And the rest of the log shows that statd apparently *did*
start without errors on a subsequent attempt, and since then has restarted
successfully several times. The only explanation that comes to mind would
be if you had a previous copy of nfs-utils installed on your system, that
didn't come from the package. Is this possible?

[Bug 1085889] Re: [Dell Precision M4600] Cannot mount USB3 external drive while plugged before boot

2013-09-16 Thread Seb R.
Thanks for the notification of the new BIOS.
As I said, I had the same problem on another computer that was not a Dell M4600
(not even a dell), so I don't think the BIOS update would help.
Moreover, I cannot test it on my dell M4600 because the problem has been solved
with blacklist uas (and then mount and unblacklist). I would need to do a new
installation to test for it.

So, I cannot say anything on the M4600, but for my other computer, I did a new
installation with raring, and it worked at first try.
I don't know if the problem is solved natively on M4600 with raring, but it is
with my HP...

Lets say it is solved if this affects nobody else on quantal or
raring...

emboss-explorer (2.2.0-8) unstable; urgency=low

  [ David Paleino ]
  * Removed myself from Uploaders

  [ Charles Plessy ]
  * Converted patches from dpatch to quilt format.
  * Converted the source package to dpkg source format 3.0 (quilt).
  * Added a DEP 3 header to the patches.
  * Removed debian/emboss-explorer.preinst, useless after Lenny.
  * Conforms with Policy 3.9.4 (debian/control, no other changes needed).
  * Use canonical VCS URLs in debian/control.
  * Updated debian/copyright to latest machine-readable format.
  * Switch to Debhelpers compatibility level 9 (debian/compat, debian/control).
  * Convert to Debhelper's tiny mode (debian/rules, debian/docs).
  * Removed obsolete DM-Upload-Allowed field.
  * Normalised debian/control with config-model-edit.
  * Removed restriction on EMBOSS version, satisified even in oldstable.
  * Verbose build logs (debian/rules).
  * Added Debhelper’s misc:Depends substitution variable.
  * Use dh_apache2 (Closes: #669738).
- Build-depend on apache2-dev for dh_apache2.
- Invoke dh_apache2 through dh.
- Updated Apache configuration file for 2.4.
- Updated debian/emboss-explorer.links for new name of configuration file.
- Override ‘apache2-deprecated-auth-config’ warning (would conflict
  with another file).
- Delete obsolete postinst and postrm files.
- Recommend apache2 or httpd through misc:Recommends.
  * Added keywords to the desktop entry.
  * Correct path for moving ACD.pm and its manual page.
  * Apply patch from upstream tracker to use emboss-explorer with EMBOSS 6.4
(Closes: #722982 LP:#1083426).
  * Correct the alias to the EMBOSS documentation. Closes: #485735.

[Bug 1225602] Re: [Hewlett-Packard HP ProBook 4530s] suspend/resume failure

2013-09-16 Thread Giovanni Mellini
Hi Christopher,
this is the output of the command requested

giovanni@manta:~$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version  sudo dmidecode -s
bios-release-date
68SRR Ver. F.05
04/08/2011
giovanni@manta:~$

Symply I closed the lid while on battery power and wen I reopened the lid the
computer restarted instead resuming (i tried again and again and did't
happened, at least for now :) )
Probably I need a firmware update but I'm using my laptop since 2 years (the
first ubuntu installed was 11.10) and this is the first time that a
suspend/resume operation went wrong, so I suppose that the new kernel 3.11.0
triggered the bug you highlighted.

However I will try to update my BIOS and try again to see if this
happens again.

Tks for your time,
Giovanni

With alsamixer I've noticed:
For gentoo-sources-3.0.6 I have master front db gain 14.00(maximum value).
This is the kernel in use with acceptable sound volume.
For newer gentoo-sources shows master db gain 6.75(maximum value)

Maybe the above change of value is the reason why the sound is almost
unnoticeable.

[Bug 1225803] Re: Sync lapack 3.4.2+dfsg-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-09-16 Thread Daniel Holbach
This bug was fixed in the package lapack - 3.4.2+dfsg-2
Sponsored for Julian Taylor (jtaylor)

---
lapack (3.4.2+dfsg-2) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Sébastien Villemot ]
  * Bump to debhelper compat level 9
  * Simplification and improvement of debian/rules:
+ use dh
+ remove hack to workaround timeouts in testsuite
+ ship testsuite summary generated by LAPACK build system instead of
  generating our own
+ do not run testsuite if DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS contains nocheck
  (Closes: #718948)
+ ensure that flags from dpkg-buildflags are injected everywhere
  * Install static library in liblapacke-dev
  * Remove remnants of old system for notifying testsuite errors at
installation of the library
  * Switch VCS to Git
  * liblapack-dev now alternatively depends on libblas.so (Closes: #695825)
  * liblapack-dev now provides liblapack.so (instead of liblapack-3.so), for
consistency with libblas-dev
  * Do not ship a copy of jquery.js; instead link to the version from the Debian
package
  * Fix debian/watch

  [ Julian Taylor ]
  * strip -Bsymbolic-functions from LDFLAGS. -Bsymbolic-functions breaks
xerbla_ error handling overrides as internal calls to it will not go
over the plt anymore. With bfd linker --dynamic-list could be used
instead but it doesn't seem work with gold linker. (Closes: #722252)

[Bug 1225789] Re: [FUJITSU AMILO La1703 audio playback] Audio volume extremely low

2013-09-16 Thread Boshu
I'm using:
*  media-sound/alsa-utils
  Latest version available: 1.0.27.1-r1
  Latest version installed: 1.0.25-r1
*  media-libs/alsa-lib
  Latest version available: 1.0.27.1
  Latest version installed: 1.0.25-r1
   As far as I know gentoo uses the in-kernel alsa-driver. There is no distinct
package(alsa-driver) in portage. I'm using obsolete versions of the alsa
packages due to the fact that when I tried to upgrade them I've had sound
issues(probabily the same low sound volume, I don't remember for sure). For me
the problem with upgrading the above packages is that the versions I'm using
now are no longer in the portage tree, meaning it would be a pain in the ... to
revert and make sound work again.
   Regarding the dissapearance of the front speaker volume in kernel 3.11 I can
say that I've booted the laptop with the headphones pluged-in but the
gnome-alsa-mixer was configured to ignore jack detection. Also I've verified
the dissapearace using plain 'alsamixer' command. I didn't tried to boot the
laptop with the headphones unplugged to see if the front speaker volume
appears. Still, the volume in the headphones was way too low to be usable by me.
