[Bug 1273079] Re: [HD3450 K8Upgrade-760GX] suspend/resume failure

2014-01-26 Thread gajdipajti
I will keep doing suspend/resume test with and without the option
"radeon.dpm=1". I had no problem with (3.2, 3.5, 3.8, 3.11 and 3.13 w/o
the radeon.dpm=1).

[Bug 1269600] Re: [Macmini5, 1] Kernel Panic when using Magic Touchpad

2014-01-26 Thread Gerrit Addiks
b1a1442a23776756b254b69786848a94d92445ba is the first bad commit
commit b1a1442a23776756b254b69786848a94d92445ba
Author: Jiri Kosina
Date: Mon Jun 3 11:27:48 2013 +0200

HID: core: fix reporting of raw events

hdrw->raw event can return three different return value types:

- ret < 0 indicates that the hdrv driver found an error while parsing
- ret == 0 indicates no error has been encountered, and the driver has
processed the report
- ret > 0 indicates that there was no parsing error, and the driver hasn't
processed the event.

Calling hid_report_raw_event() has to be called appropriately so that it
reflects what has been done by ->raw_event() callback, otherwise we might
updates of the in-kernel structure are lost upon arrival of the report,
which
is wrong.

[Bug 1273069] Re: [058f:6366] Internal USB card reader dropped after "safely remove"

2014-01-26 Thread Yung Shen
Found a workardoun as verified it is not a hardware issue,

I tried to reset the internal USB hub that hardwired with this usb card reader,
by using following program, I can force reset the usb hub port so that
re-enumerate the card reader without physical hotplug.

http://marc.info/?l=linux-usb&m=121459435621262

Compile:
$ cc usbreset.c -o usbreset

Run: (on this system card reader connected to root hub 1)
$ sudo usbreset /dev/bus/usb/001/001

Try to insert a SD card, verified it works after usb reset.

[Bug 1273081] [NEW] Xorg crash

2014-01-26 Thread Matt Della
Public bug reported:

While viewing an svg I made in the stock photo viewer (eye of gnome), I
zoomed in to about 2000 percent (the max), at which point the image
became fully transparent, and displayed the grey and white checkerboard.
My screen then went black for some time and returned to the login
screen. After logging in, my fans turned on, and Apport began consuming
many gigabytes of RAM, as well as 100 percent of one cpu. I killed it
and everything returned to normal.

I was following jsalisbury's instructions.

penalvch - I dont have a burner handy so testing using a bootable cd/dvd
is out. I'm happy to install and uninstall a kernel deb to test the
Trusty kernel if you can point me at the packages directly.

[Bug 1272375] Re: tests fail with python3.4 as default version

2014-01-26 Thread Martin Pitt
FTR, I just ran the autopkgtest again with the PPA enabled, and now s3ql
is uninstallable:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 s3ql : Depends: python3 (>= 3.4) but 3.4~b2-0ubuntu1 is to be installed

This seems to be a bug in dh_python3: It shouldn't autogenerate a
dependency like "python3 (>= 3.4)" as that will break with pre-release
interpreters. At least it should autogenerate it as (>= 3.4~), or put in
the version of python3 that you built it with.

[Bug 1272375] Re: tests fail with python3.4 as default version

2014-01-26 Thread Martin Pitt
Ah I'm sorry, unlike in the other bugs I forgot to link to the python3.4
test logs in that one. I now updated the description to include it. So
rebuilding s3ql to also include a 3.4 extension will mostly fix this
bug. But the original failures that you also see with 3.3 will most
likely still happen. If the upstream commit you linked to fixes those,
then indeed all is well.

Note that Matthias' no-change rebuild only changed the default module to
python 3.4 (https://launchpadlibrarian.net/163787523/buildlog_ubuntu-
trusty-amd64.s3ql_2.7-1build1_UPLOADING.txt.gz), but the package
actually needs to be fixed to build extensions for *all* supported
python3 versions.

** Description changed:

When running s3ql's tests with python3.4 as default python3 version, all
  tests fail completely:

+ http://people.canonical.com/~pitti/tmp/autopkgtest-
+ py34/fail/py34-s3ql/results/

+   https://jenkins.qa.ubuntu.com/job/trusty-adt-

[Bug 1273075] [NEW] Copying html_logo file over improperly checks for file basename instead of relative name

2014-01-26 Thread Christopher Lee
Public bug reported:

Copying html_logo file over improperly checks for file basename instead
of relative name (taken from[1])

To quote:
"1.2.1 inserted a check to see if the html_logo file existed before
attempting to copy it over to _static; however, the check is on the basename of
the file, so this will always file unless the html_logo file is put into the

2014-01-26 Thread Yung Shen
Public bug reported:

This is an issue found in 12.04.3 with latest
upgrade(linux-image-3.8.0-35-generic ),
After user removed SD card by "Safely remove" option, the card reader won't
work anytmore until system rebooted.
It's also verified with "linux-image-3.11.0-15-generic", having the same
problem.

Steps to reproduce:

0. Insert the SD card first, make sure it works.

1. Right click on the USB icon on the launcher
2. Click "Safely remove"
3. Re-Insert the SD card that works before

Or
1. Open "Files" or "Home folder"
2. Right click on USB icon located at left side below "Devices" list
3. Click "Safely Remove Drive"
4. Re-insert the SD card that works before

Actual result:
Nothing happen, card reader is silent

Expected result:
the USB icon should show up, or popup a window to open the SD card

[Bug 1181192] Re: 'Develop' tab opens three empty windows

2014-01-26 Thread Timo Jyrinki
We skipped Qt 5.1 because of problems with that and now it's Qt 5.2 that
will be hopefully uploaded soon. Also there this problem is fixed, but
there is no identified single patch that could be backported to the
older Qt unfortunately.

[Bug 990765] Re: "Save" button always greyed out when creating openvpn connection

2014-01-26 Thread maksim
Hi, it seems I've got a solution.
All the people here including me wanted to establish vpn connection just using
login and password, without any certificates. I guess we were barking up the
wrong tree using openvpn.
The right thing to do is this:

sudo apt-get install network-manager-pptp
sudo network-manager restart

Then click to NetworkManager -> Configure VPN -> +Add -> Point-To-Point
Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) in VPN section. That's it!

[Bug 1273060] [NEW] Ubuntu EFI install locks out firmware access

2014-01-26 Thread Satish
Public bug reported:

:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
Release:14.04

:~$ apt-cache policy grub-efi-amd64
grub-efi-amd64:
  Installed: 2.00-22
  Candidate: 2.00-22

Laptop Manufacturer : FUJITSU
Laptop Model: LH532 (UMA)
BIOS ver: Phoenix SecureCore Tiano 1.10

EFI installation of Ubuntu clears out the boot entries in firmware leaving user
with no option but boot Ubuntu. Pressing (F2) to enter BIOS Setup has no effect
as does pressing (F12) for Boot Order.
The only way to get back firmware access is to flash the bios using
manufacturer provided utilities. Unfortunately Fujitsu doesn't provide a BIOS
flash utility for Linux/Ubuntu. It is to be noted that installed Windows in EFI
mode on the same system does not clear out firmware access but just adds the
'Windows Boot Loader' entry at the top of the boot sequence.

[Bug 1241505] Re: USB keyboard does not work after grub, and until after encrypted root volume is unlocked

2014-01-26 Thread Anatoli
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1238194 ***

For my case it was not enough to add ohci_pci, it was also necessary to
add hid_logitech and hid_logitech_dj (my keyboard was Logitech
wireless). I also added (just in case) hid_microsoft, hid_apple and
mac_hid. This fixed the problem.

[Bug 1273054] [NEW] grub-install fails when using external drive /dev/sdb

2014-01-26 Thread Mr. Splatt
Public bug reported:

I have an external drive which I am booting from.
when running grub-install after update-grub, it fails.
$ sudo grub-install /dev/sdb
source_dir doesn't exist. Please specify --target or --directory

$ mount
/dev/sdb6 on / type ext4 (rw,errors=remount-ro)
...

As a rusult of this, there is no option to boot from the newest
installed kernels at the grub boot menu. It must be possible to hand
edit something, but grub-install is supposed to work.

I don't mind repeating information that has been provided on the forum already.
If anyone wants to look there though:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2200335&page=4&p=12911643#post12911643
also:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/408076/update-grub-doesnt-help-boot-new-kernels-on-external-drive

package: grub2-common: /usr/sbin/grub-install

1.) $ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 13.10
Release:13.10

2.) $ apt-cache policy grub2-common
grub2-common:
  Installed: 2.00-19ubuntu2.1
  Candidate: 2.00-19ubuntu2.1
  Version table:
 *** 2.00-19ubuntu2.1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy-updates/main amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 2.00-19ubuntu2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/main amd64 Packages

3.) I expected to be able to install the new boot options found by update-grub
4.) instead I received an error: source_dir doesn't exist. Please specify
--target or --directory

This is a security vulnerability to the extent that there is a security
vulnerability driving the update to newer kernels, and this impedes the
use of the new and improved kernels.

- ssl.pemfile = "/etc/lighttpd/example2.pem"
- server.document-root = "/www/example2/"
+   ssl.pemfile = "/etc/lighttpd/example2.pem"
+   server.document-root = "/www/example2/"
  }

After doing sudo service lighttpd force-reload I can access, for
example, https://example1.org/ and it will be with proper certificate,
but if I access https://example2.org/, it will use certificate from
  example1.org. If I force-reload again and access https://example2.org/
first, it will be fine, but https://example1.org/ will use
  example2.org's certificate.

So, the problem is that SNI implementation is broken. Instead of picking
pem file configured per each virtual host, lighttpd picks pem file for
- first accessed virtual host and uses it for every other virtual host for
- which ssl.pemfile is configured. For all other virtual hosts the defaul
- server-wide pem file is used, which is perfectly fine.
+ first accessed virtual host and uses it for every other virtual host.

[Bug 1273049] [NEW] No Launcher for Audacity to be Found in Dash Search

2014-01-26 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Public bug reported:

I have Audacity installed:
sudo apt-get install audacity

, but I can't launch it via the Unity Dash.

Typically, you can launch audacity with these steps:
1) Hit your super-key.
2) type "audacity" (no quotes)

However, these steps do not produce the audacity-launcher in the dash-
search-results.

So far, in Ubuntu 14.04, I've been forced to launch audacity via the
terminal. This should be showing up in the dash instead.

[Bug 1040053] Re: 10de:0df4 [Dell XPS 15 L502X] no nouveau HDMI support with dual grafic card in Ubuntu 12.04LTS with 3.2.0-29-generic

2014-01-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
asgard2, thank you for testing Trusty. For now, I'm going to send this
to xorg for review, as this would appear to be an issue there, versus
the kernel.

Despite this, regarding the information you provided:
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ xrandr --output HDMI-1-1 --auto
Floating point exception (core dumped)

If your OS is not in too bad of a shape, a window should pop open to allow you
the opportunity to report a bug. If not, this should populate a crash file in
the folder /var/crash , where it is recommended this is copied to your
installed OS, and report from there via:
ubuntu-bug NAMEOFCRASHFILE

Just to clarify, in the best scenario from all the xrandr permutations
tested, while the external monitor was working via HDMI in Trusty, the
FPS was 1-3, and you would have graphics artifacts?
