[Bug 1385641] Re: urfkilld use 100% cpu after resume

[Bug 1514052] Re: erratic fan speed and little control kernel 4.2
Since "dell-smm-hwmon" seems to be an alias of the i8k module, and based on the solution from the #100121 of the kernel bug tracker, blacklist "dell-smm-hwmon" resolved the issue at least on my Dell Studio XPS 8000. I tried many hard reboots to confirm this. However i don't really know this module and can't say if blacklisting it is free of side effects. i'd argue that this module concerns DELL laptops as it's modinfo description suggests but my DELL studio XpS 8000 is a desktop, not a laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1514052 Title: erratic fan speed and little control kernel 4.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1514052/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1514161] [NEW] address book search view makes full show after delete
Public bug reported: just an annoyance: imagine you want to delete an email from all the address books. you click on the top item "All Address Books" and then enter the email into the search box. let's assume the search shows you several hits which all appear in the window below the search box. you click on the first one and you press the delete key. a dialog appears and you confirm the action with ok. the window, which was up until now showing several hits to your search, refreshes and shows you *all* your emails, in spite that the search box is still showing your selection restriction. imho, this is a contradiction. either the search box has to be reset to empty or the window should again show the corresponding selection. [Bug 1507091] Re: Corrupted low memory on Ubuntu 15.04
Guillermo Rodas, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.19 to 4.3 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 1317437] Re: wubi kernel option "rw" required
I believe that this comment: https://code.launchpad.net/~noorez-kassam/ubuntu/utopic/initramfs-tools /fix-for-1317437/+merge/219927/comments/592175 This is the way I understand this is and my testing is shown below: Mounting and creating the loop device in the same step with the readonly option, makes it impossible to remount the loop device later as read- write. By creating the loop device separately (which defaults to read-write capable unless the -r option is supplied), the loop device can then be mounted readonly, and later remounted as read-write. This change is needed since release 14.04, which - for unknown reasons - now won't let the loop device be remounted read-write (perhaps it's passing the -r option to losetup internally and it's losetup which has started enforcing this?). The end result is that Wubi installs cannot boot, because the remount read-write fails. My tests confirm this: Setup: 1. Create a file, format as ext4. bcbc@neptune:~$ dd if=/dev/zero of=new.disk bs=1MB count=100 bcbc@neptune:~$ mkfs.ext4 -F new.disk 2. Old method, mount and create loop device as read only, then try to remount bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo mount -r -t ext4 -o loop new.disk /mnt bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo touch /mnt/test touch: impossible de faire un touch «/mnt/test»: Système de fichiers accessible en lecture seulement bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo mount -o remount,rw /mnt mount : impossible de remonter périphérique bloc /dev/loop0 en lecture/écriture, est protégé en écriture bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo umount /mnt 3. New method, first create loop device (defaults to read-write capable), then mount as read only, then try to remount read-write bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo losetup /dev/loop0 new.disk bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo mount -r -t ext4 /dev/loop0 /mnt bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo touch /mnt/test touch: impossible de faire un touch «/mnt/test»: Système de fichiers accessible en lecture seulement bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo mount -o remount,rw /mnt bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo touch /mnt/test bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo umount /mnt bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo losetup -d /dev/loop0 4. To confirm it's probably passing -r to losetup bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo losetup -r /dev/loop0 new.disk bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo mount -r -t ext4 /dev/loop0 /mnt bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo touch /mnt/test touch: impossible de faire un touch «/mnt/test»: Système de fichiers accessible en lecture seulement bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo mount -o remount,rw /mnt mount : impossible de remonter périphérique bloc /dev/loop0 en lecture/écriture, est protégé en écriture bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo umount /mnt bcbc@neptune:~$ sudo losetup -d /dev/loop0 Conclusion: This fix is appropriate and required for loop mounted installs >From "bcbc" is what this bug is all about. ** Changed in: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Rafael David Tinoco (inaddy) ** Changed in: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1317437 Title: wubi kernel option "rw" required To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1317437/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1514203] [NEW] mkfs.btrfs and fsck.btrfs gets installed into the wrong directory
Public bug reported: Watching the Ubuntu console while installing, I noticed that mkinitramfs keeps complaining that it could not find fsck.btrfs. I looked into it and noticed that both mkfs.btrfs and fsck.btrfs are being installed into /bin instead of /sbin proper. A quick workaround is to copy the files from /bin to /sbin, but this is a major issue as if the user boots from a btrfs root filesystem and the root filesystem gets corrupted, then the user will not be able to fsck the filesystem when dumped at the initrd. ** Affects: btrfs-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) => btrfs-tools (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1514203 Title: mkfs.btrfs and fsck.btrfs gets installed into the wrong directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/btrfs-tools/+bug/1514203/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1514160] [NEW] contradictory geometry description
Public bug reported: gnome-terminal's man pages describes option --geometry as: --geometry=GEOMETRY X geometry specification (see "X" man page), can be specified once per window to be opened. which is basically size in pixels and a position in the format WIDTHx‐HEIGHT+XOFF+YOFF, e.g. 1280x720+0+0 However, gnome-terminal --help-all describes --geometry as: --geometry=GEOMETRY Set the window size; for example: 80x24, or 80x24+200+200 (COLSxROWS+X+Y) in other words, as columns by rows of text. Public bug reported: Hello, my gpu, an old GMA945 on i915, randomly crashes. This is an extract of the kernel log reporting the crash. I have to admit, to be precise, that this defect has been occuring just after upgrading to 15.10 and kernel 4.x; before of that, with ubuntu 15.04, it never occurred. Thanks. This bug is being reported to happen also after a clonezilla based installation for Trusty. [Bug 1480877] Re: Access points' "PropertiesChanged" dbus signals freeze UI on mobile devices
Here my feedback from installing silo 10 as per bug #1462664. I have been walking to town today and did not notice any lag for the time i was in town. This is not a bug, as the standard specification linked in the description clearly defines what defaults values should be used if the environment vars are empty or not set. [ Matt Johnston ] * New upstream release. (Closes: #631858, #775222.) [ Guilhem Moulin ] * debian/source/format: 3.0 (quilt) * debian/compat: 9 * debian/control: + Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.6 (no changes necessary). + Add Homepage, Vcs-Git, and Vcs-Browser fields. * debian/copyright: add machine-readable file. * Split up package in dropbear-bin (binaries), dropbear-run (init scripts) and dropbear-initramfs (initramfs integration). 'dropbear' is now a transitional dummy package depending on on dropbear-run and dropbear-initramfs. (Closes: #692932.) * Refactor the package using dh_* tools, including dh_autoreconf. (Closes: #689618, #777324, #793006, #793917.) * Add 'Multi-Arch: foreign' tags. * dropbear-run: + Add a status option to the /etc/init.d script. + Pass key files with -r not -d in /etc/init.d script. (Closes: #761143.) + Post-installation script: Generate missing ECDSA in addition to RSA and DSS host keys. (Closes: #776976.) * dropbear-initramfs: + No longer mark /usr/share/initramfs-tools/conf-hooks.d/dropbear as a configuration file, since it violates the Debian Policy Manual section 10.7.2. (Regression from 2014.64-1.) Instead, move the file to /etc/initramfs-tools/conf-hooks.d/dropbear and add a symlink in /usr/share/initramfs-tools/conf-hooks.d. + Delete debian/initramfs/premount-devpts, since /dev/pts in mounted by init since initramfs-tools 0.94. (Closes: #632656, #797939.) + Auto-generate host keys in the postinstall script, not when runing update-initramfs. Pass the '-R' option (via $PKGOPTION_dropbear_OPTION) for the old behavior. Also, print fingerprint and ASCII art for generated keys (if ssh-keygen is available). + Revert ad2fb1c and remove warning about changing host key. Users shouldn't be encouraged to use the same keys in the encrypted partition and in the initramfs. The proper fix is to use an alternative port or UserKnownHostFile. + Set ~root to `mktemp -d "$DESTDIR/root-XX"` to avoid collisions with $rootmnt. (Closes: #558115.) + Exit gracefully if $IP is 'none' or 'off'. (Closes: #692932.) + Start dropbear with flag -s to explicitly disable password logins. + Terminate all children before killing dropbear, to avoid stalled SSH connections. (Closes: #735203.) + Run configure_networking in the foreground. (Closes: #584780, #626181, #739519.) + Bring down interfaces and flush IP routes and addresses before exiting the ramdisk, to avoid dirty network configuration in the regular kernel. (Closes: #715048, #720987, #720988.) The interfaces considered are those matching the $DROPBEAR_IFDOWN shell pattern (default: '*'); the special value 'none' keeps all interfaces up and preserves routing tables and addresses. -- Guilhem MoulinSat, 03 Oct 2015 20:47:33 +0200 ** Changed in: dropbear (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1510837 Title: Sync dropbear 2015.68-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dropbear/+bug/1510837/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1509740] Re: Could not apply the stored configuration for monitors
This bug persisted for two weeks. Installed and updated Xenial problem no longer occurs. [Bug 1303086] Re: Pointer Speed Missing in Unity Settings for Mouse & Trackpad
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1132063 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1132063 Just a workaround here - I am also affected by this bug, but the terminal command xset allows you to adjust the mouse speed using the command line. I suggest doing a man xset to learn more about the command, but "xset m 1.3 0" is the magic number for me. The format of the command is xset m .
