[Bug 1520746] [NEW] 15.04 hangs on HP pavillion 11 inch laptop

2015-12-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have installed Ubuntu on my HP n11-6TU laptop. I originally installed
15.04 and it may have frozen once or twice while running that version. I
did notice that under high load I would see artifacts on the external
(HDMI) monitor, like momentary diagonal streaks across the screen.

I upgraded to 15.10 when it was released and started to experience semi
regular hangs of the system these hangs would happen once every couple
of hours of use and seemed to be related to video updates. For example
it would happen when I scrolled in a web browser, and would rarely
happen when I was working on code or when the system was idle. The hangs
happen both when using the built in monitor or the external monitor.

When the system hangs the screen remains static. The mouse does not
move. The system does not respond to any keyboard or mouse input from
built in or external devices. The system does not respond to a ping or
any other type of attempted network connection.

The only way I can find to recover the system is to hold the power
button down until the power is switched off, and then to power it on
again.

I will attach my dmesg output. If there is anything else I can try
please let me know.

[Bug 1522040] [NEW] 2.x versions are EOL

Public bug reported:

Hi there!

Looking for a way to update our freeradius servers, (2.1.x and 2.2.x are
on EOL http://freeradius.org/version2.html) hoping that on the next
Ubuntu LTS there will be 3.x freeradius version (Centos 7 already has
3.0.x rpm package) found that the free-radius package version still on
the 2.x branch.

Developers mark 3.x as the stable version of free radius so i think a

[Bug 1522037] [NEW] Changing category and returning to all loses the apps title in the lower section

2015-12-02 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
1. Navigate to the apps scope
2. Tap on all
3. Change this to any other category
4. Tap on that and got back to all

EXPECTED:
I expect the system to now look like it did before

ACTUAL:
The apps title is missing and the top line of the lower apps is now pressed up
against the bottom of the divider. Refreshing doesn't bring it back either
only reboot.

[Bug 1447053] Re: IO_PAGE_FAULT

2015-12-02 Thread Serban Maerean
With the risk of sounding foolish, how do you do that?

I have an HP Pavilion HE desktop and I looked around the BIOS setup
options, but couldn't find an obvious one for that. Searching the HP
support site returned no info about IOMMU.

Thanks much for your help.

to 5.4.1.

A test version is now building at https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-

[Bug 1458704] Re: Cannot use online banking with Bank of Ireland

2015-12-02 Thread Olivier Tilloy
You will need to switch the phone to RW mode, because this requires editing a
system file.
Then you can use phablet-shell to connect to the device from your desktop via
the USB cable, and

  sudo vim.tiny /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/qt5/qml/Ubuntu/Web/ua-
overrides-mobile.js

to edit the file. Add the override mentioned in comment #4, save the
file, close the browser and launch it again, and see if that improves
the situation.

[Bug 1474218] Re: Camera function does not save photos on SD card

2015-12-02 Thread Bill Filler
Hi Michael,
there should be a log named like
/home/phablet/.cache/upstart/application-click-com.ubuntu.camera_camera_.log
where is the version number you have installed (latest is 605 I
believe). If you could check again that log would be helpful.

Also, would be good to test if you can create files on your SD card, as perhaps
it's read-only or corrupt in some way. Please try this after opening a shell on
your device:
> df -kh

You should see SD card mounted as /media/phablet/

>cd /media/phablet/
>ls
You should see a Pictures directory
>cd Pictures
>ls
You should see a com.ubuntu.camera directory
>cd com.ubuntu.camera
Now try to create a file
>touch foo.txt
see if error reported
if not, do
>ls -lc foo.txt
and report the results

[Bug 1520751] Re: Kernel 4.2 does not detect external monitor

2015-12-02 Thread David Abergel
Dear Christopher,

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I won't be able to do this
for at least a week because Real Life™ is too busy. (Also, I've not
updated a BIOS before so I am cautious about the idea.)

But if I can do it some time in the next week or two I shall update the
bug.

Cheers.

David

[Bug 1520343] Re: Qualcomm Atheros wireless card [168c:003e] (rev 32) not supported

2015-12-02 Thread Dennis Marttinen
Yeah, sorry there's a little typo in both of the wget commands, I've missed the
parameter specifying the output file name.
Here are the commands for the fix again, this time with the correct parameters
and some other little tweaks.
If the /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/ directory already exists, remember
to backup everything from it in case you want to restore the previous
configuration.

sudo mkdir -p /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/

sudo rm /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/* 2> /dev/null

sudo wget -O /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/board.bin
https://github.com/FireWalkerX/ath10k-
firmware/blob/7e56cbb94182a2fdab110cf5bfeded8fd1d44d30/QCA6174/hw3.0/board-2.bin?raw=true

sudo wget -O /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/firmware-4.bin
https://github.com/FireWalkerX/ath10k-
firmware/blob/7e56cbb94182a2fdab110cf5bfeded8fd1d44d30/QCA6174/hw3.0/firmware-4.bin_WLAN.RM.2.0-00180-QCARMSWPZ-1?raw=true

sudo chmod +x /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/*

After a reboot your wireless should be working.

The status of this bug should probably not be "In Progress" after a
working solution has been found, but please correct me if I'm wrong. As
I'm not yet familiar with this bug reporting system, could someone
advice me further?

PS. I'm glad you figured it out Oliver, sorry for the extra hassle.

/Dennis

Hi Nikita,

This bug doesn't affect me at the moment (on Xenial). I'm a bug triager
for Ubuntu GNOME so I decided to add some tags to make filtering bugs by
release easier. Donn, would you mind marking yourself as affected?

How often does this occur and is it reproducible all the time Nikita?

[Bug 1522026] Re: armhf lxd container does not start on arm64 system

2015-12-02 Thread Martin Pitt
Ah, trusty-backports does not have arm64 either:

  * Arch-restrict all binaries to i386 amd64 armhf.
The other architectures require a recent gccgo5 and golang 1.5 to build.

So I guess I'm better off doing this on wily?

[Bug 1517586] Re: can't boot to disk from netboot on power8

2015-12-02 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Mathieu, or anyone else affected,

Accepted grub2 into vivid-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/2.02~beta2-22ubuntu1.3 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu Vivid)
Status: In Progress => Fix Committed

[Bug 1522026] Re: armhf lxd container does not start on arm64 system

2015-12-02 Thread Martin Pitt
Some more obvservations:

- I get exactly the same failure with lxc launch'ing a trusty armhf instance.
- arm64 lxd images work fine (tested trusty and wily, there are no xenial ones
yet)

So I went down a level and tried with LXC:

 sudo lxc-create -n x1armhf -t ubuntu -- -r xenial -a armhf

This also fails, but with some more info:

$ sudo lxc-start -n x1armhf -F -l debug -o /dev/stderr
[..]

and then it exits again (with code 0!), and there is no container
running. Not sure if the "violated its seccomp policy" bit is
interesting?

So one further step down: I directly downloaded and unpacked
https://images.linuxcontainers.org/images/ubuntu/xenial/armhf/default/20151202_04:37/lxd.tar.xz:

$ sudo tar xpf lxd.tar.xz
$ sudo chroot rootfs/
# dpkg --print-architecture
armhf

nspawn fails too, with a different error message:

$ sudo systemd-nspawn -b -D rootfs/

In syslog I'm getting seccomp errors (from LXC and nspawn):

[Bug 1522040] [NEW] 2.x versions are EOL

2015-12-02 Thread 8La
Public bug reported:

Hi there!

Looking for a way to update our freeradius servers, (2.1.x and 2.2.x are
on EOL http://freeradius.org/version2.html) hoping that on the next
Ubuntu LTS there will be 3.x freeradius version (Centos 7 already has
3.0.x rpm package) found that the free-radius package version still on
the 2.x branch.

Developers mark 3.x as the stable version of free radius so i think a
new LTS should package that version.

[Bug 512600] Re: import ROOT -> ImportError: No module named libPyROOT

2015-12-02 Thread Pooja Saxena
Hello,
I am facing the same issue and honestly I do not understand the fix suggested
in above post:
---
A fix which would respect the convention of other Python packages would be to
symlink the PyROOT .py and .so module files into /usr/lib/pythonXX/dist-packages

I am working on Ubuntu 14.04. I will be happy to provide any information
required.

Look forward to hear back,

thanks,
pooja

[Bug 1522051] [NEW] grub-efiamd64-SIGNED Package failed

UBUNTU 14.04

During installing Ubuntu along side of Windows 10, I received at message
that the GRUB-EFI-AMD64-SIGNED Package failed to install into /target/.

I am not sure which version of this package UBUNTU was attempting to

the option to install UBUNTU and 3rd Party updates. Perhaps the date can
help figure out the version it was installing, whether part of the
