2016-02-03 Thread Jarno Suni
Public bug reported:

--rate 50.00 --scale-from 1067x600 --output LVDS1 --mode 640x480 --pos 0x0

[Bug 1532607] Re: Phone not usable while a call comes in - followed by "restart"

2016-02-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The exceptions in comment #6 is bug 1506358, where the client dies
unexpectedly but the server keeps running (and remember Unity8 is a
client as well as a server).

If that's the only issue then this is a duplicate of that. But it may
not be the only issue.

The "laggy and choppy" resize for apps that are slow to redraw/relayout
is all Unity 8, not QtMir. I can implement it the way you want (making
window border follow mouse and filling the empty space between it and
the surface with white for instance) without changing a single line in
QtMir.

[Bug 1541245] [NEW] Missing and loose of ethernet e1000 driver in Ubuntu 14.04

2016-02-03 Thread JujuLand
Public bug reported:

I made a fresh install of 14.04 on a Dell XPS-8900 there is about two or three
month.
The driver was missing, and I have installed manually a driver. It has worked,
but with an ennoying problem.

Each time a new Linux version is updated and then the computer is
reboot, driver is lost and must install again.

As it's not my computer, but the one of a friend which doesn't know
about computers, I had to go and reinstall and reboot the machine. I
have made a script which allows the user to do that, but it's really a
pain ...

Is there a way to avoid such things ?

Thanks

2016-02-03 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
@miroslav, from the screenshot it seems that the access to the camera
sensor has been denied to the camera app.

If it is still a problem for you can you:
- Close the camera app if it is open
- open system-settings
- go to security and privacy
- tap on Apps permissions
- tap on camera
- enable camera app in the list of authorized applications.
- close system settings and try to launch the camera app again

Tell us if it fixes your problem.

If it doesn't please attach the following files:
/home/phablet/.cache/upstart/cameraservice-trust-stored.log*

2016-02-03 Thread Tim
** Description changed:

This is well obsolete, and has been removed in debian. It should be
  removed from ubuntu also

Remaining rdeps will need transitioning to vte2.91

- * cairo-dock-plug-ins
- * gedit-valencia-plugin [amd64 arm64 armhf i386 powerpc ppc64el]

have been removed from debian also?)

That's a UI design decision. I personally advocated for that approach,
but got outvoted in my team, which preferred the implementation we have
now (which I explained in my previous comment).

[Bug 1541210] Re: Photos are displayed as 90 degree rotated in photo roll

2016-02-03 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Confirming. My old photos (not taken with Ubuntu phone) transferred to
Bq are rotated 90 degrees when viewed in Gallery. And the same in Camera
app's photo roll if they are placed in the com.ubuntu.camera subfolder.

I believe this has not been the case always, but due to some newish
change.

Bq E4.5 on OTA-9.

** Description changed:

On some devices where the camera is such that the Orientation exif data
gets written "Orientation |Right-top", as on Turbo.

The camera app has problems showing the photo in the photo roll. Gallery also
has this problem. Other apps will show it normally.
The camera app view finder shows it as it should.

When taking photo is portrait mode, the photo roll shows it rotated
  wrong.

When taking photo in landscape mode, the photo roll shows it properly.

The "My Photos" scope shows both portrait and landscape taken photos
  properly.
+
+ ---
+
+ This also affects photos transferred from elsewhere to the phone and
+ viewed in Gallery.

[Bug 1541247] Re: Zooms image on TV horizontally so that the bottom part of framebuffer does not fit in display

2016-02-03 Thread Jarno Suni
** Description changed:

$ xrandr --verbose --fb 1067x600 --output TV1 --set mode PAL --mode 800x600
--rate 50.00 --scale-from 1067x600 --output LVDS1 --mode 640x480 --pos 0x0
--panning 1067x600+0+0/1067x600+0+0
  scaling TV1 by 1.333750x1.00
  scaling TV1 by 1.333750x1.00
  crtc 0: disable
  crtc 0: 800x600 50.00 +0+0 "TV1"
  crtc 1: 640x480 59.94 +0+0 "LVDS1

Expected result: the whole framebuffer fits on TV1.
Actual result: Image is zoomed vertically, and, low part of framebuffer is
cut. Horizontally ok.

However, sometimes this works fine, at least, if I set
- --set 'top margin' 15 --set 'left margin' 40 --set 'bottom margin' 25 --set
'right margin' 40
- for output TV1. And then the following workaround does not work.
+ --set 'top margin' 15 --set 'left margin' 40 --set 'bottom margin' 25 --set
'right margin' 40
+ for output TV1. And then the following workaround does not work. Also the
image in TV may be sometimes offset so that there is black are on top and left.
All in all setting graphics works unreliably.

  Workaround:

$ xrandr --verbose --fb 1067x600 --output TV1 --set mode PAL --mode 800x600
--rate 50.00 --scale-from 1067x720 --output LVDS1 --mode 640x480 --pos 0x0
--panning 1067x600+0+0/1067x600+0+0
  scaling TV1 by 1.333750x1.20
  scaling TV1 by 1.333750x1.20
xrandr: specified screen 1067x600 not large enough for output TV1
(1067x720+0+0)
  crtc 0: 800x600 50.00 +0+0 "TV1"
  crtc 1: 640x480 59.94 +0+0 "LVDS1

If it ain't broke don't fix it... Long live Ubuntu 14.04 - I miss it!

[Bug 1303550] [NEW] Improve diagnostics in self-test

2016-02-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

p-d-e-2.38 test/auto.py failed a test for me:

==
FAIL: test_requires_provides (__main__.T)
automatic requires/provides
--
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "test/auto.py", line 678, in test_requires_provides
self.fail('You need to have pkg_resources, httplib2, and gi.repository.GLib
installed for this test suite to work')
AssertionError: You need to have pkg_resources, httplib2, and
gi.repository.GLib installed for this test suite to work

--

There's no info about which part of the multiprong requirement failed.
Instead of a single "try" for multiple imports, a loop over them would
make it easy to emit the specific package that failed. Wit the attached
patch, I get:

==
FAIL: test_requires_provides (__main__.T)
automatic requires/provides
--
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "test/auto.py", line 677, in test_requires_provides
self.fail('You need to have %s installed for this test suite to work' %
needed_pkg)
AssertionError: You need to have gi.repository.GLib installed for this test
suite to work

--

So now I know exactly which dep is missing (or if I think I have it,
which is broken).

[Bug 1541262] [NEW] Ubuntu Touch includes mir-test-tools by default

2016-02-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Touch includes mir-test-tools by default. It probably shouldn't
because there's nothing functional there. Only some very large binaries.

# system-image-cli -i
current build number: 425
device name: mako
channel: ubuntu-touch/devel-proposed/ubuntu
last update: 2016-02-03 16:33:44
version version: 425
version ubuntu: 20160203
version device: 20150910
version custom: 20160203

sounds like a mistake.

[Bug 1536948] Re: [Solved!][HP ProBook 430 G3, Conexant CX20724, Speaker, Internal] Underruns, dropouts or crackling sound

2016-02-03 Thread ArnauC
Hi,

I only modified the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file adding this
lines at the end:

options snd-hda-intel power_save=0
options snd-hda-intel power_save_controller=N
options snd-hda-intel model=basic
options snd-hda-intel single_cmd=1
options snd-hda-intel probe_mask=1

And then I changed the BIOS configuration, as I said yesterday.

This only two steps.

[Bug 1540997] Re: Input hot-plugging patches for Xephyr

2016-02-03 Thread Laércio de Sousa
** Description changed:

Please consider including this patch series [1] for in Xenial's xorg-
server package. It's a crucial one to get single-GPU multi-seat working
in Ubuntu the easiest way (it works with all flavours that use LightDM
as the default display manager), and would be a quite valuable feature
for a LTS release, without need to maintain a forked package in Ubuntu
  Multiset PPA.

I work with a large set of single-GPU multi-seat computers for
education, and I'm trying to get these patches upstreamed in time for
Xenial release, but I have no idea when Adam Jackson will get to review
  it.

+ Patch [2] also needs to be backported, in order to get kdrive evdev
+ driver built automatically as expected.

[Bug 1507769] Re: App store does not display images

2016-02-03 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Silo 032 has long pending networking fixes that now have seen more
recent work and the silo might be in shape for landing.

As an interested party in this networking related bug (among many),
could you please give 032 a whirl on vivid-overlay (xenial also
available) and test your networking in general in addition to this
particular bug? If we see no regressions - and we do see fixes - we
could try landing the silo.

Upgrade with 'citrain device-upgrade 32 '.
