[Bug 1229761] Re: package fglrx (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1

2016-02-19 Thread Jay Eichelberger
The other day, did a normal update and upgrade.
This included:
 2016-02-19 13:35:38
Upgrade: fglrx-updates:amd64 (15.200-0ubuntu0.6, 15.201-0ubuntu0.14.04.1),
fglrx-updates-core:amd64 (15.200-0ubuntu0.6, 15.201-0ubuntu0.14.04.1),
fglrx-amdcccle-updates:amd64 (15.200-0ubuntu0.6, 15.201-0ubuntu0.14.04.1)

today I did a dpkg-query -l | grep -v ^i

 and looked for discrepancies.

Saw:
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)

rc fglrx-core 2:15.200-0ubuntu0.3
amd64Minimal video driver for the AMD graphics accelerators

I realize that fglrx and fglrx-updates are incompatible.

*Assumed* that it would be good to purge and remove fglrx and fglrx-
core.

got this error
Errors were encountered while processing:
 fglrx
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
A package failed to install. Trying to recover:

state was then:
pc fglrx 2:15.200-0ubuntu0.3
amd64Video driver for the AMD graphics accelerators

The *assumed* it would be good to remove fglrx as:
sudo aptitude remove fglrx

No error on that.

Then *assumed* OK to reinstall fglrx-updates as:
sudo aptitude reinstall fglrx-updates
No error here.
But somewhere, the crash and error report was generated...

I'm running Ubuntu
Release 14.04
Kernel Linux 3.16.0-60-generic
Mate 1.8.2

on an AMD64 machine.
Hope this helps...

[Bug 958345] Re: ttf-indic-fonts packages are outdated should be removed

2016-02-19 Thread Ashik Salahudeen
I can confirm that 15.10 does indeed come with ttf-indic-fonts.

The fonts provided on Ubuntu 15.10 by default provides a suboptimal
user experience for someone dealing with Indic content. These are VERY
old fonts, and it is gross injustice to not include newer versions. The
fix suggested seems simple enough, and I have no idea why this is taking
years to be completed.

[Bug 800080] Re: Import OpenFlight fails.

2016-02-19 Thread Nazo
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since
that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some
of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently
supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly
upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Package depends on php5-common, php5-curl; is incompatible with php 7;
and is obsolete upstream. OK to remove, even though php-opencloud still
depends on it (bug #1543807 should be addressed one way or another).

[Bug 1527848] Re: Indicator-Datetime always shows UTC time for any online calendar added to evolution (Unity7, Xenial)

2016-02-19 Thread Khurshid Alam
** Description changed:

My timezone is set to GMT+5:30 (Kolkata, India) from indicator datetime
settings. But when I add a online google calendar in Evolution, events
(which has start time and end time) are appearing as UTC time. However
in evolution, its all nice and evolution does respect my timezone.

  How to reproduce:

  1. Set google calendar timezone to match your timezone from google
  calendar settings (web).

  2. From web interface, add a event with time into that calendar. Then
  copy its private ical address.

  3. Open evolution. Add that calendar from new->calendar->on the web.

  4. reboot.

  What should happen?

If a event starts from 5 PM, indicator-datetime should reflect that.

  What is happening?

indicator-datetime shows every event starting at UTC time; i.e, in my
- case 5.30 hours behind!
+ case 5.30 hours leading!

  Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/gPisVnl.png

Note: It seems it only happens for online calendars. Locally created
  events are ok.

[Bug 1547771] [NEW] Vinagre / Remote Desktop Viewer command line is missing keep-aspect-ratio

2016-02-19 Thread Duncan Greatwood
Public bug reported:

In the Vinagre UI, there is an option "Keep aspect ratio", a sub-option
of Scaling.

This option does not seem to represented via a command line option, for
instance:
vinagre --aspectfit
(realvnc uses "AspectFit" to represent turning on both vnc-scaling and
keep-aspect-ratio).

Option should be available via command-line in vinagre, not just UI.

Thanks much!

[Bug 1547770] [NEW] Vinagre / Remote Desktop Viewer won't exit full screen when launched from command line

2016-02-19 Thread Duncan Greatwood
Public bug reported:

Launched vinagre as follows:
vinagre -f --vnc-scale

Comes up fine. If you move mouse pointer to top middle, the Viewer menu
fails to appear (there is flickering, but no menu).

If launched with keep-aspect-ratio, it works fine - only goes wrong when
has been scaled to full height vertically (i.e. no keep-aspect-ratio).

Ubuntu 15.10, software up-to-date.

[Bug 1546108] Re: Latest Vagrant box for Ubuntu Xenial is failing to boot

2016-02-19 Thread Ben Howard
Thank you kindly Kevin for the solution and Ivan for reporting the bug.
I've been tied up in meetings all week and hope to get something out the
door next week. With the excitement of CVE's, 14.04.4 and other fun
things this week, I've been a little behind on getting this fixed.

[Bug 958345] Re: ttf-indic-fonts packages are outdated should be removed

2016-02-19 Thread Santhosh Thottingal
It does.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Get Ubuntu 15.10 Image and boot it. (I used virtualbox)
2. Once you get the desktop go to
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-indic-fonts-core - Remember this was not
additionally or explicitly installed. It came by default with OS.
3. You will see the years old fonts installed there as shown in screenshot
attached. Some of these fonts are even abandoned by developers.
4. The impact: After ubuntu installed, not installing any extra packages,
without any extra customization, the indic language rendering the user get is
crappy. Majority of users are going to use ubuntu as such without bothering or
not knowing customization and package management.

Since I am a developer of some of these fonts, I get this question every
week from users- "Why am I seeing the crappy fonts in Ubuntu?"

Please please fix this before 16.04

[Bug 1547762] [NEW] "SSL Protocol Error" in Chromium for several Google web sites after installing Ubuntu Security Updates for libnss3

2016-02-19 Thread Ricardo Dias Marques
Public bug reported:

Scenario: Laptop computer running Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS (64-bit) ("Precise
Pangolin")

Issue: In the Chromium web browser - "Version 37.0.2062.120 Ubuntu 12.04
(281580) (64-bit)" - after having installed the Ubuntu security Updates
that were available on Feb 18, 2016, I get the following error while
trying to access some Google Web sites (e.g. https://www.google.com ;
https://plus.google.com/ ; https://hangouts.google.com/ ):

SSL connection error

Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with
the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you
don't have.
Error code: ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Those web sites still appear correctly in the same computer, using other
web browsers, namely Google Chrome - "Version 48.0.2564.109 (64-bit)" -
or Mozilla Firefox - version "44.0.2"

The updates installed on Feb 18, 2016 were the following:

libnss3:amd64 (3.19.2.1-0ubuntu0.12.04.2, 3.21-0ubuntu0.12.04.1)
libnss3:i386 (3.19.2.1-0ubuntu0.12.04.2, 3.21-0ubuntu0.12.04.1)
libnss3-1d:amd64 (3.19.2.1-0ubuntu0.12.04.2, 3.21-0ubuntu0.12.04.1)

"libnss3" is listed at
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=libnss3 as being the "Network
Security Service libraries", so I believe it's possible that update may
be related to this issue that I'm facing.

[Bug 1547754] Re: pppoe MTU problems

2016-02-19 Thread Wenzhuo Zhang
** Description changed:

  1. If the MTU of eth0 is 1500, network-manager fails to establish a
pppoe connection, and the MTU of eth0 (not ppp0) is then automatically
lowered to 1492. Now network-manager can successfully establish a pppoe
connection. If I manually set the MTU of eth0 back to 1500, network-
manager would fail again. See attached log.

  2. The Access Concentrator of my ISP offers MTU values of both 1492 and
- 1442. pppd-4.3.5 in Ubuntu 14.04 adopts 1492 as the MTU of the ppp
- device, while pppd-4.3.7 in Xenial adopts 1442. Setting the lower MTU on
+ 1442. pppd-2.4.5 in Ubuntu 14.04 adopts 1492 as the MTU of the ppp
+ device, while pppd-2.4.7 in Xenial adopts 1442. Setting the lower MTU on
the WAN link (ppp0) can easily cause PMTU-D problems, especially for
  remote VPN clients.

[Bug 1547759] [NEW] sbcl: FTBFS due to TeX error

2016-02-19 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

Imported from Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/815205:

Source: sbcl
Version: 2:1.3.1-1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Hi,

I just merged sbcl 2:1.3.1-1 into Ubuntu (we have a simple chmod change in
debian/rules), and it failed to build on all architectures [1]. I verified
that this issue affects Debian unstable as well by building it in a chroot.

It appears to be due to a TeX issue during the build.

Thanks,
Logan Rosen

2016-02-19 Thread Nazo
your log cleary shows that blender cannot find 'scripts/modules'.
when there is no 'scripts/modules', no menus are shown.
I'm not sure why blender cannot find it, but BLENDER_SYSTEM_BASE environment
variable may be useful for workaround.

[Bug 1547754] [NEW] pppoe MTU problems

2016-02-19 Thread Wenzhuo Zhang
Public bug reported:

1. If the MTU of eth0 is 1500, network-manager fails to establish a
pppoe connection, and the MTU of eth0 (not ppp0) is then automatically
lowered to 1492. Now network-manager can successfully establish a pppoe
connection. If I manually set the MTU of eth0 back to 1500, network-
manager would fail again. See attached log.

2. The Access Concentrator of my ISP offers MTU values of both 1492 and
1442. pppd-2.4.5 in Ubuntu 14.04 adopts 1492 as the MTU of the ppp
device, while pppd-2.4.7 in Xenial adopts 1442. Setting the lower MTU on
the WAN link (ppp0) can easily cause PMTU-D problems, especially for
remote VPN clients.

[Bug 504186] Re: start up problem

2016-02-19 Thread Nazo
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since
that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some
of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently
supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly
upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

hi guys, save yourself the effort , it does not work on ubuntu testing.

[Bug 1544936] Re: PPC: no mpeg-2 video playback

2016-02-19 Thread ernsteiswuerfel

But nevertheless my machine plays mpeg2 files with Input/Codec
Decode=Auto just fine.
