[Bug 1519034] Re: Asus X302LA, Elantech touchpad dies off after pm-suspend or reprobe of 'psmouse' module

2016-03-30 Thread Wladimir Mutel
The bug is still reproducible with 4.4.0-16 kernel package.
Should I raise it on linux-input again ? Am I the only one who is affected ?

[Bug 1536871] Re: [MIR] fwupd

2016-03-30 Thread Mario Limonciello
To address the various actions:
1) I created a bug to at least track that this is a problem in gpgme [0]
2) I uploaded a new gnupg2 to xenial-proposed.  It's in unapproved.  For now if
you want to give this a try until it's accepted I also have it on a PPA [1]
3) I added a check to fwupd to check for this particular behavior happening
during the attempt at import [2]. Once we have any other concerns sorted out
he should be able to cut a new release.

[Bug 1536871] Re: [MIR] fwupd

2016-03-30 Thread Mario Limonciello
Oh and lastly per the comments in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fwupd/+bug/1536871/comments/2
we should likely be able to turn the test suite back on once compiling
with gnupg2.1 in build-depends.

Seth let us know if there is anything else that needs investigation or
fixing from your perspective.

[Bug 1564237] [NEW] Acer touchpad stopped working with kernel 3.19.0-56

2016-03-30 Thread Mike Ditto
Public bug reported:

After Ubuntu updated the kernel to 3.19.0-56 the touchpad stopped working.
The mouse pointer never appears and touching/dragging/clicking has no effect.
I can make it work by using the GRUB menu to boot 3.19.0-49 instead.

On the older, working, kernel xinput outputs:
⎡ Virtual core pointer  id=2[master pointer  (3)]
⎜   ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ SYN1B7D:01 06CB:2991 UNKNOWN  id=11   [slave  pointer  (2)]

↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=12 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Acer WMI hotkeys id=13 [slave keyboard (3)]

On the new, not working, kernel xinput outputs:

[Bug 1564234] [NEW] gpgme1.0 doesn't work properly with gnupg 2.0

2016-03-30 Thread Mario Limonciello
Public bug reported:

In trying to debug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fwupd/+bug/1536871/comments/16
there has been the discovery that gpgme doesn't actually verify the
version of gnupg on the system and sends arguments to it that are only
supported in Gnupg 2.1.

http://git.gnupg.org/cgi-
bin/gitweb.cgi?p=gpgme.git;a=commit;h=61a0d92b679f248505f1bf16386bc41a5bf2ba1d

This causes problems because the error doesn't populate up to apps as an
import failure but rather a silent pass with no results.

[Bug 1564220] Re: ISST-LTE:pVM:pinelp3:ubuntu 16.04: systemctl daemon-reload failed in emergency mode

2016-03-30 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1564220/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Hi,

For how to drop into the emergency mode, I just add a nonexistent
partition item, something like

/dev/nonexistent1 /nonexistent1xfs defaults   1 2

then reboot the system. So systemd won't find the device and will drop
into emergency mode.

thanks.

[Bug 1536871] Re: [MIR] fwupd

2016-03-30 Thread Mario Limonciello
Seth,

I believe I've identified what's going on (and why Richard couldn't
reproduce this on Fedora).

gpgme1.0 shells out to /usr/bin/gpg2 to perform actions. If you turn on
it's debug flags verbose enough you can track down the various calls
it's sending around.

I was noting the cert actually isn't getting properly enrolled in gnupg2
database in the first place.
In looking at the commands that happened for the import and noticed that gpgme
uses "--pinentry=error" [1] but doesn't test to make sure that gpg2 actually
supports this. The net result is that it sends this command to gpg2 which
returns back on the pipe an error about an unsupported argument.

GPG2 added support for this argument in version 2.1. Ubuntu 16.04
isn't currently shipping 2.1, but Fedora (24) is.

So what's happening is the GPG key never gets enrolled in the GNUPG
database.

So there's a few actions I notice out of this:
1) fwupd needs to test if the key import was actually successful
2) gpgme probably needs to test the version of GPG2 it's working with before
building these arguments
3) Ubuntu 16.04's gnupg needs to be updated to 2.1 (this already happened in
Debian) [2]

2016-03-30 Thread Stéphane Graber
So I'm marking the bug won't fix due to the way LXD works. However I am
sending a patch to remove those serial based aliases as they are more
confusing than useful.

This should then make things behave the way you'd expect for the
simplestreams provided images.

[Bug 1564208] [NEW] fix for linux_tools when cross-compiling

2016-03-30 Thread David Leonard
Public bug reported:

When cross-compiling with do_tools, dh_shlibdeps needs to be told to
look in /usr//lib otherwise it will fail the build.

I am cross-building in ubuntu-xenial.git (master) on x86_64 for an armhf
target:

 archtriple=arm-linux-gnueabihf
 flavour=generic
 dpkg-architecture -t $archtriple -c fakeroot \
debian/rules \
binary-$flavour binary-perarch \
AUTOBUILD=true \
abi_suffix= \
do_linux_tools=true \
do_tools=true \
do_tools_usbip=false \
do_tools_cpupower=false \
do_tools_perf=true \
do_tools_x86=false

This will fail later with errors like:
  dh_shlibdeps -plinux-headers-4.4.0-15-generic
  arm-linux-gnueabihf-objdump: .../asn1_compiler: File format not recognized
  arm-linux-gnueabihf-objdump: .../extract-cert: File format not recognized

I have had success with a fix that adds a -l option to dh_shlibdeps as
per manual pages. (See attached patch)

I'm an average user, and have done very little poweruser stuff. After
reading through all the posts, I still don't know if any fix has been
identified. I'm attaching my alsa-info.sh, and can make any changes and
provide results as long as clear instructions are provided.

Please let me know what you see and if you'd like more information.

Thanks

[Bug 1489855] Re: kubuntu 15.10 beta1 live usb drops to busybox with persistence PARTITION

2016-03-30 Thread JoseStefan
While performing the steps I indicated before:
* Ubuntu 14.04.3 failed (busybox)
* Ubuntu 14.04.2 worked as expected (df confirms correct disk space)

so in theory it was working with
casper (1.340)

and broken with
casper (1.340.1) trusty; urgency=low

but 15.04 (vivid) is working with:
casper (1.360) vivid; urgency=medium
which already implements (1.340.1) as (1.347 and 1.348)

So I don't know what to make of that.

[Bug 1562618] Re: whole OS freezes seemingly randomly

2016-03-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Vincent Gerris, as per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-
and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/Yoga-2-11-Notebook-
Lenovo?linkTrack=GPS:Body_Search%20Products=false an update to your
computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (93). If you
update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate
does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1559339] Re: Doesn't seem to use deb package descriptions?

2016-03-30 Thread Matthias Klumpp
FYI, this is fixed with the AppStream Generator project, which
supersedes the old DEP-11 generator - I am not yet sure if Ubuntu can
use the new generator for Xenial already, but I'll discuss this at the
GNOME Software sprint. Maybe with enough prior testing, this will be
possible (which has some major other benefits besides fixing this bug,
like having an (almost) accurate and always up2date index of files for
the icon search, and beeing more than twice as fast).

[Bug 951152] Re: Alt-^ switcher doesn't respect selected_bg_color from GTK theme

2016-03-30 Thread Treviño
This has been fixed a couple of cycles ago.
The glow color can be themed as explained here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Unity/Theming#Properties

Specifically using rules such as:
/* Glow applied to the selected scaled window */
-UnityDecoration-glow-size: 10px; /* Size property, size of glow */
-UnityDecoration-glow-color: rgb (221, 72, 20); /* Color property of the
glow */

[Bug 1564121] Re: Update to PHP7.0 dependencies

2016-03-30 Thread Steve Langasek
I'm not clear on why this patch changes the postinst to look for both
php7.0 and php5 when the runtime apache config looks exclusively for
mod_php.c and the package depends on libapache2-mod-php. This looks to
me like it should replace the existing php5 config with php7 rather than
adding on to it.
