[Bug 1605062] Re: neverball on mir is transparent, you can see the windows behind

2016-07-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think this might be the same compositing bug as 1510386 where Unity8
doesn't yet render RGBX correctly (it interprets the X as A instead of
ignoring it).

Can you please try running neverball in mir_proving_server or
mir_demo_server_* ?

[Bug 734908] Re: Unity is visible on top of fullscreen apps

2016-07-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It's impossible for an X app to draw on top of the Unity shell because
the Unity shell is part of Compiz and designed to always draw after app
windows (hence appears on top).

If you want the appearance of Unity not being on top then you need to
modify the Unity code so that it doesn't draw itself on top, or not draw
itself at all under certain conditions.

[Bug 1603913] Re: wily speech-dispatcher is useless because of missing "version" file header

2016-07-20 Thread Luke Yelavich
** Description changed:

+ Impact:
+ Packages cannot build against libspeechd2/libspeechd-dev in
speech-dispatcher. Even now, navit from wily fails to build from source due to
missing files in the speech-dispatcher package.
+
+ Test case:
+ * Attempt to build navit against speech-dispatcher in wily, it will fail.
+ * Build navit against speech-dispatcher in wily-proposed and it should
succeed.
+
+ Regression potential:
+ The proposed fix has no affect on the runtime operation of any package, this
is purely a fix for package building.
+
+ Original report follows.
+
fatal error: libspeechd_version.h: No such file or directory

Re: [Bug 1591868] Re: fwupd consuming 100% CPU

2016-07-20 Thread Mario Limonciello
Thanks. Considering that can you attach GDB to the process while it's
using 100% CPU and get a BT?
Information how to do this is here:

[Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-07-20 Thread Cip Man
For me 'systemctl restart NetworkManager.service' fixes it until the next
reboot - which is less than once a week, I only suspend the laptop.
So my workaround is to run it as cron job after reboot:

> sudo crontab -e

add the line:

@reboot sleep 10 && systemctl restart NetworkManager.service

This instructs the system to wait for 10 seconds after reboot and then
restart the service; experiment with the 10 seconds, might not be enough
for slower/older laptops.

Re: [Bug 1603810] Re: Ubuntu turns monitor permanently off during boot

2016-07-20 Thread Jason Gunthorpe
As a clarification, the mainline boot behaviour is identical to the Ubuntu
kernel with $vt_handoff removed. I double checked that the option is
present in grub for all the tests. I guess this isn't surprising since that
option isn't part of mainline.

Re: [Bug 1603810] Re: Ubuntu turns monitor permanently off during boot

2016-07-20 Thread Jason Gunthorpe
4.1.0-040100-generic works
4.4.14-040414-generic works

Didn't test others.

The boot sequence is different with the main line kernels. There is a black
screen period with a couple of messages (1-2s), then the console font load,
then it briefly switches to the splash, black screen flash back to the
prior screen then the login prompt. There is no DPMS flash (the monitor
displays a dialog for 1s when it is DPMS powered off)

Whereas when, say, 4.2-ubuntu rarely randomly works, or with 3.19-ubuntu,
it just stays at a black screen, briefly flashes a DPMS power off
notification, and then goes to the login screen without showing the couple
of messages.

Sounds like an Ubuntu kernel bug?

Obnoxiously all the console messages are not captured in the journal, that
seems like another bug..

[Bug 1605034] [NEW] maliit-framework import fails in python using GI API

2016-07-20 Thread James Cameron
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu Xenial 16.04 with xenial-updates applied.

Installed gir1.2-maliit-1.0 0.99.1+git20151118+62bd54b-0ubuntu3 and
dependencies.

Expected: successful import of Maliit via GObject Introspection API
using python "from gi.repository import Maliit",

Observed: failure to import, error is "ImportError: cannot import name
Maliit",

Diagnosis: the package is missing a .typelib file normally installed in
/usr/lib/girepository-1.0

Impact: low, log spam; sugar-session package uses it
(/usr/share/sugar/extensions/deviceicon/frame.py), but does not list it
in dependencies, and hides the exception.

The automated installer in Ubuntu Studio barfed this error at me trying
to install it into my ROG G751JT.

I can just install it without the graphics and do it separately, but it
would have been very nice for it to be able to just take care of it for
me. Nice option, I hope it gets sorted!

[Bug 1605023] [NEW] autopkgtest-pkg-python set but "SKIP no tests in this package"

2016-07-20 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to diagnose why oslo-sphinx's autopkgtest doesn't work.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/oslo-sphinx/4.4.0-1

http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/o/oslo-sphinx/yakkety/amd64/

It has this field in the source section of debian/control:
Testsuite: autopkgtest-pkg-python

https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/openstack/oslo-
sphinx.git/tree/debian/control

But this is the output from autopkgtest.ubuntu.com:

autopkgtest [12:57:41]: testing package oslo-sphinx version 4.4.0-1
autopkgtest [12:57:41]: build not needed
*SKIP no tests in this package
autopkgtest [12:57:41]: summary
*SKIP no tests in this package
Exit request sent.

>From the log, it doesn't look like it even tries to install the package
binaries.

Running `autopkgtest -- schroot yakkety-amd64` locally here works fine.

Since the Debian package that added the Testsuite line is only in
experimental, ci.debian.net doesn't currently run for this package.

This failure is blocking oslo-sphinx from migrating from -proposed
because it previously had a (successful) manual autopkgtest using
debian/tests/control.

apache2_2.4.7-1ubuntu4.13, which includes the security fix. The updated
debdiff is attached.

If anyone would like to test there is a .deb with the updated patch building in
in the ppa at:
ppa:wesley-wiedenmeier/tmp

I will confirm that the new version of the patch works again once the
package has built.
