[Bug 1617162] [NEW] Locked Screen rotation doesn't persist between restarts
Public bug reported: Bq Aquaris m10 fhd Ubuntu edition. Ubuntu 15.10 ota-12 I set the screen rotation to landscape. Then lock the screen rotation with the drop down menu option. [Bug 1617133] Re: Mising text on UI after waking from suspend
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1617133/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. [Bug 1615864] Re: Screen resolution not saved after reboot or logout and back in
I have also tried Arander GUI suggested by someone in the IRC and it created a script: #!/bin/sh xrandr --output VGA-0 --off --output TV-0 --off --output HDMI-0 --primary --mode 1920x1080 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal This was placed in /home/.screenlayout which did not work. I also manually added the same script to the folder /home/.config/autostart with no luck. Both scripts were given the proper permissions. I have the script in both locations at the moment, but I have tried with just .screenlayout or .config/autostart. I am about to rewrite the script as a simple xrandr -s 1920x1080 since that seems to work each time I boot and have call the terminal and put that line in so I can get my proper screen resolution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1615864 Title: Screen resolution not saved after reboot or logout and back in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1615864/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1617133] [NEW] Mising text on UI after waking from suspend
Public bug reported: I suspend my laptop by either clicking on the "suspend" menu option or just closing the lid. The suspend behavior works as expected, but occasionally when resuming from suspended state, text is missing from the UI (screenshot attached). The UI is Gnome. I forget if it is "gnome flashback" or what legacy gnome is now. It's whatever you get from installing the "gnome-panel" package. When I click on or mouse over some things, those things will sometimes rerender causing the missing text to appear. So far the only fix I have found for this is to restart the machine. Ubuntu installation is from scratch (not upgrade). I did not have this problem prior to running 16.04. [Bug 1617129] [NEW] "Startup Applications" not saving after reboot. Also program added does not run at reboot.
Public bug reported: Hello, When using Startup Applications in a fresh install of 16.04 I select "Add" and place my information for the program in the proper lines. An example is a terminal package called Guake. In 14.04 when using the Startup Applications and adding this package it would run at startup, reboot or re-logging in. in 14.04 in general I have not encountered this issue. There is a item that is always there and that is "NVIDIA X Server Settings" (this may be the cause of my other issue Bug 1615864), but I will leave that to the other report. I also noticed after adding the program to autostart at boot up that there was nothing added to the .config/autostart folder. Maybe this is not related? Again, pointing to Bug 1615864 for the reason the script is not autostarting. Could this be an issue with autostart not reading the added items from the GUI or even the manually added script I placed in the autostart folder for my graphics issue? I must have added Guake a dozen times along with some test items to start. Each and every time the items fall out of the GUI and have to be re-added and they did not run after boot. [Bug 1419803] Re: Update download would not resume after lost and regained network connection
I ran into something which looks like this. During an "update all" the download stalled at 0 bytes on a click app, and over the next half hour it didn't give up or retry. However, after turning flight mode on and off again, the UI went back to its earlier state with clickable update buttons, and the second try worked. It should probably time out eventually when no data is moving, then should probably retry a few times, then should probably give up. Ideally about the same as wget does by default, though perhaps not so many retries. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1419803 Title: Update download would not resume after lost and regained network connection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1419803/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1577049] Re: Switch user feature has disappeared from GNOME Shell since upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04
** Description changed: Impact == Ubuntu 16.04's accountsservice was built without systemd support because systemd dropped libsystemd-login because that functionality was merged into libsystemd. At a minimum, this broke GNOME Shell's "Switch User" feature. Test Case = 1. From Ubuntu GNOME 16.04.1, install the updated accountsservice packages. - 2. Because Ubuntu does not automatically restart accountsservice on upgrades like Debian does (maybe we should?), you'll need to run this command: - - sudo systemctl restart accounts-daemon.service - - Or just restart your computer. - - 3. Add a user if necessary to ensure you have at least 2 user accounts configured. + 2. Add a user if necessary to ensure you have at least 2 user accounts configured. + 3. Reload gnome-shell. You can do this with Alt+F2 and entering the lower case letter r. Or you can log out of all user accounts and log back in. 4. Click the system status area in the top right of GNOME Shell. - 5. Click your user name. Extra options should appear including "Switch User" + 5. Click your user name. "Switch User" should appear in the list. Regression Potential None. The one-line change to accountsservice's configure check was made in Debian's accountsservice 0.6.40-3 a year ago(!). The patch is upstreamed and was included in accountsservice 0.6.42 released in June. ** Tags added: xenial yakkety -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1577049 Title: Switch user feature has disappeared from GNOME Shell since upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1577049/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1617118] [NEW] [MS-7349, Nvidia MCP67 HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] Sound is distorted
Public bug reported: Hello, At first I did an upgrade from 14.04 LTS via the screen pop-up asking if I wanted to upgrade to 16.04, of course I clicked yes. First bad move. I took a almost perfect HTPC Media system down to a almost unusable system. I thought it was due to a bad upgrade so I proceeded to do a new install via CD. Second bad move. I did not back up all my audio settings in 14.04. I usually run a media program called Kodi(XBMC), but I haven't yet gotten to that since I tried Youtube and Netflix and found that the audio was fuzzy and distorted. My system consists of an older computer with HDMI directly driving a Vizio 45 inch TV. Again, this has worked fine with 14.04. I do remember having to change my sample rate within Kodi, but not with any Browser video streaming such as Youtube, Netflix or any other paid premium channels that I have. Now to the point of the matter. Here is what is on my system now. Linux HTPC 4.4.0-34-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jul 27 16:06:39 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Dual core AMD cpu, 4Gig of ram Here is a link to my Alsa information http://pastebin.com/3J7aT0BD Here is another link to my Pulse daemon.conf http://pastebin.com/gXVeYK9T The only thing I tried with the daemon.conf was removing the rem ; from the sample rate area and swapped the rates around. I tried the default settings first then swapped the 48000 with the 41000. No change. Apparently this is not the area to make the change. My findings some time back with the distortion witin Kodi, it was due to the sample rate being too high or too low driving the HDMI audio to the TV. Sorry I cannot remember which. When in Kodi when I had this issue under 14.4, it was contained to Kodi only no other programs. As of 16.04 this audio distortion is mainly all browser streaming. As of the last I checked both Firefox and Chrome has distorted audio. VLC and other media players seem to be okay. Sorry for this long winded post. I hope all this information will help in correcting this issue in 16.04.. Thanks GEE ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: alsa-base 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-34.53-generic 4.4.15 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-34-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: gee2932 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: gee2932 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: GNOME-Flashback:Unity Date: Thu Aug 25 21:56:20 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-08-20 (5 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160719) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: alsa-driver Symptom: audio Symptom_AlsaPlaybackTest: ALSA playback test through plughw:NVidia failed Symptom_Card: Built-in Audio - HDA NVidia Symptom_Jack: Digital Out, HDMI Symptom_Type: Digital clip or distortion, or "overdriven" sound Title: [MS-7349, Nvidia MCP67 HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] Sound is distorted UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 03/19/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: CaptiveWorks CW-3000HD V2.37 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: MS-7349 dmi.board.vendor: MSI dmi.board.version: 1.0 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.chassis.version: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvrCaptiveWorksCW-3000HDV2.37:bd03/19/2008:svnMSI:pnMS-7349:pvr1.0:rvnMSI:rnMS-7349:rvr1.0:cvnToBeFilledByO.E.M.:ct3:cvrToBeFilledByO.E.M.: dmi.product.name: MS-7349 dmi.product.version: 1.0 dmi.sys.vendor: MSI ** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1617118 Title: [MS-7349, Nvidia MCP67 HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] Sound is distorted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1617118/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1547763] Re: gmediarender does not start as a service
The problem seems to be that the init script (which is a Debian contribution) is not compatible with systemctl/systemd. If you comment out the line that says ". /lib/lsb/init-functions" then it works, but systemd won't know it is running. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1547763 Title: gmediarender does not start as a service To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gmrender-resurrect/+bug/1547763/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1615864] Re: Screen resolution not saved after reboot or logout and back in
I just placed a script in .config/autostart " xrandr --output VGA-0 --off --output TV-0 --off --output HDMI-0 --primary --mode 1920x1080 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal " This was generated by Arandr which was suggested by someone in the IRC. That failed to work. Then I tried the same in a folder called .screenlayout. That also failed. I tried to have it called from the "Startup Applications" , but that seems to also be broken (bug report to follow on this), Startup Applications does not save anything that is added after a reboot. The only thing that is showing there is Nvidia X Server settings. As stated earlier this was not an issue with 14.04 LTS. Three weeks later I am still dealing with this screen resolution issue to the point that I lost track of all the things that were suggested and from outdated posts.

This comment is to inform you that mirroring has been disabled between Launchpad bug 1573062 and LTC bug 141723 due to the size of this LP bug attachments. Re: [Bug 1615164] Re: wifi connection manager gone, vpn connections gone after suspend , until reboot
Service network-manager restart does not fix the problem for me. The only way I have found is to reboot. I tried several other suggestions in other peoples posts that have a similar problem and none have worked. I have reinstalled network-manger with no change.
