[Bug 1631560] Re: Narrow spacing of icons in Files affects file names

2016-10-16 Thread Ari Torhamo
@ Sebastian Bacher: I found an existing bug report about this problem at Gnome
Bugzilla, and I added my comment to it:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=745968
The report and the latest comment are a year and a half old, but the bug is
marked as new. I guess it's better not to expect a quick patch.

@ dino99: Thanks for the workaround, dino99. It alleviated the problem
somewhat. It would help more if I'd decrease the font size further, but
the text would get too small then.

[Bug 508618] Re: Setting max-specpdl-size of 34295 allows segfaults with 'simple' elisp

Did you ever attempt to report this upstream? Does the bug exist in a
recent emacs-snapshot? If so, we should probably forward this to the
Emacs maintainers rather than have it linger here.

[Bug 1633979] [NEW] gnome-terminal appears in launcher twice when running

2016-10-16 Thread Chris Hermansen
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 16.10, I have gnome-terminal in my launcher. When I start it,
I see two terminals in the launcher - one representing the running
terminal(s), one that allows me to open another terminal. No other
application seems to behave this way. I don't believe this behaviour
was evident in 16.04.

FWIW I have Ubuntu Tweak Tool also installed and I have selected
minimize single window applications on click (which works). Also this
was an upgrade from 16.04.

observed on Tuleta machine. But devices are not listed on BMC based
systems [Habanero, Garisson]. Please let me know if this is expected
behavior.

[Bug 1633973] [NEW] Yakkety update to v4.8.2 stable release

2016-10-16 Thread Tim Gardner
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The v4.8.2 upstream stable
patch set is now available. It should be included in the Ubuntu
   kernel as well.

   git://git.kernel.org/

TEST CASE: TBD

The following patches from the v4.8.2 stable release shall be
applied:

usb: storage: fix runtime pm issue in usb_stor_probe2

[Bug 1584740] Re: Libreoffice impress hanging and high cpu on slide operations

2016-10-16 Thread Jesse McNichol
I had the same problem with Libreoffice Impress and it caused me no end
of hassle until I uninstalled the GTK interface. Now it's fast and
responsive even with big slideshows. Only drawback is that the menus
look like Windows 95.

Try running "sudo apt-get remove libreoffice-gtk*" and see if that
resolves the issue on your machine. This command will remove
libreoffice-gtk, libreoffice-gtk3 and libreoffice-gnome but will leave
libreoffice otherwise intact.

[Bug 1499879] Re: [Today Scope] Moonphase could not be read

2016-10-16 Thread N. Gineer
I suggested some new German translations for the lunar phases, avoiding
very long terms, and using only terms from common speech (i.e. no
astronomical terms).

Additionally, I suggested to replace "Mondphase" with "Mond", to gain
additional space for the lunar phases.

[Bug 1633935] Re: Inkscape freezes when selecting font

2016-10-16 Thread volomike
Not so fast. After more testing, the problem seems only intermittently
fixed. I can recreate the problem, but then when I click off the popdown
listbox for font sizes, switch from DejaVu Sans to FreeSans, and try
again, the problem is resolved for FreeSans, then, oddly, when I go back
to DejaVu Sans, the problem randomly either goes away or comes back
again. It's very bizarre!

[Bug 1632084] Re: Virtualbox not able to see network in yakkety

2016-10-16 Thread Joe Barnett
it's only within the virutalbox windows OS that the duplicate ip is
reported, and only in bridged mode, and it happens on multiple
differenlty-configured networks that otherwise work fine.

when in NAT mode, it _feels_ similar to an issue I reported in steam
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/steam/+bug/1631980) which was
resolved by installing libnss-resolv:i386. however, it still occurs.
is the virtualbox hosted OS unable to connect to the 127.0.0.53 systemd-
resolved nameserver somehow?

[Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled

2016-10-16 Thread Patricio
Thanks for that!
I think I'll keep waiting for the patched version to come out for my distro
(32bit Xubuntu 16.04) as I'm really trying to avoid installing dev tool and
compiling from source... I guess I'm just too old and grumpy now and prefer to
spend time using my computers than fixing them. I already filled my quota of
applying manual patches for things to just work in the 90's :D.

Anyway, I really appreciate the effort many of you guys put into making
my life easier with great, open software.

[Bug 1633319] Re: memory leak in indicator-datetime

2016-10-16 Thread Jonathan Brier
I've been able to narrow down on my system that enabling "Evolution Data
Server" for Access to the Google Calendar is the trigger for this memory
issue. See the three screenshots. I even removed and reauthorized the
Google account access with no change.

First screenshot shows the Evolution Data Service disabled and memory function
is normal.
Second is toggling the Evolution Data Service from off to on. After ~10-5
seconds memory consumption appears at a rapid rate.
Third is after switching Evolution Data Service from on to off and killing the
indicator-datetime-service process showing the memory issue no longer exists.

If Evolution Data Server is not switched to off killing the indicator-
datetime-service process only restarts memory levels at the initial
value and consumption growth appears nearly immediately following its
automatic resume.

[Bug 1522316] Re: Icons are too big

2016-10-16 Thread Christopher
Still present in Yakkety. I know that the desktop and Nautilus icon
sizes are interconnected, but I end up with tiny icons in Nautilus and
oversized (but a bit smaller) icons on the desktop.

[Bug 1574982] Re: Cannot use CONFIG_CC_STACKPROTECTOR_STRONG: -fstack-protector-strong not supported by compiler

2016-10-16 Thread Dan Marinescu
this is not a gcc bug. this is an ubuntu management specific arrogance
(and perhaps some cash from redmond with love) - of course it is
completely wrong to patch the kernel makefile because they decided to
ship a gcc unable to build the kernel itself (with wrong
defaults/specs). but like they said repeatedly, they are not a
democracy. also just like linus said repeatedly, fuck unubuntu!

>Why isn't this a bug in gcc 6? It doesn't seem right that we have to patch the
>kernel makefile to get it to build.

[Bug 1633856] Re: [needs-packaging] [package-request] python-ics

2016-10-16 Thread Brian Murray
*** This is an automated message ***

This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for
a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug
reports specification,
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-
packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm
setting this bug's status to Wishlist.
