2017-02-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The "For best results, please ensure that this computer:" text fields
under the "Preparing to install Ubuntu" page of the Install program
wizard have white background and font when the Dark Theme is enabled,
making them very difficult to see and inconsistent with the dark
theming.

This is reproducible in both Ubuntu GNOME 14.04.4 Trusty LTS and 15.10 Wily
live sessions:
1. Open tweak tool, enable dark theme.
2. Now open the "Install Ubuntu" program and select "Continue". The next page
will have white text and white background colour in the three text fields, even
though the rest of the window is dark. The white text is nearly impossible to
see with the white field background color.

** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1447968] Re: ImageMagick is missing JPEG2000 support (needs to be built with openjpeg)

2017-02-18 Thread Mathew Hodson
The reason this has not been fixed is because imagemagick is in main, so
all of its build-deps must be in main. openjpeg2 is not in main so that
needs to get put in main first.

There is a main inclusion request in bug 711061, so hopefully we can see
this fixed in the future.

** Summary changed:

- ImageMagick lost JPEG2000 support in Vivid Vervet
+ ImageMagick is missing JPEG2000 support (needs to be built with openjpeg)

[Bug 1565060] Re: defaults file is ignored

2017-02-18 Thread Per Heldal
This bug affects among others anyone with intermittent or permanent ipv6
routing problems. Most documented workarounds for ipv6-problems in dual-
stack configurations hint at disabling ipv6 in /etc/default/bind9, but
that won't work when the file is ignored when systemd is in control of
the processes. My suggestion is thus to edit the service-file for bind9
to include the defaults-file, and thus maintain backward compatibility
with most of the published documentation. The following service-section
in /lib/systemd/system/bind9.service seems to do the job:

[Service]
EnvironmentFile=-/etc/default/bind9
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/named -f $OPTIONS
ExecReload=/usr/sbin/rndc reload
ExecStop=/usr/sbin/rndc stop

[Bug 1665950] Re: Using GB instad of GiB in indicator-multiload popup

2017-02-18 Thread Sergio A Guzmán
** Summary changed:

- Wrong RAM values in indicator-multiload popup.
+ Using GB instad of GiB in indicator-multiload popup

** Description changed:

The RAM (memory) values presented in indicator popup does not match with
the same values in Gnome System Monitor (let's abbreviate it as SM).
+
+ This is because indicator-multiload is using GB instead of GiB, values
+ in GiB is more understandable / comprehensible for me.

For example, about memory used, SM shows 7.0 GiB and indicator shows 7.5GB.
The same occurs in total / physical memory, my system has 8 GB of RAM, Ubuntu
recognizes about ~7.7 GB and SM represents correctly this value, "free" command
too... but indicator shows 8.3 MB. Totally confusing.

- Other values (disk, CPU, etc.) seems to be legit.
+ Would be great to parameterize that: I like to see GiB-like values but
+ other users like to see GB-like values.
+

[Bug 1665952] [NEW] Kate menu bar missing

2017-02-18 Thread Relja
Public bug reported:

System:Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
Kate Version: 4:15.12.3-0ubuntu2
Linux relja-ThinkPad-T450 4.4.0-62-generic #83-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 18 14:10:15
UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Kate suddenly stopped showing menu bars. Googling suggested editing the config
files to change "MenuBar=Disabled" into "MenuBar=Enabled" - I tried that (as
well as deleting those lines all together) but when I start Kate there is no
change, and it also reedits/readds the the MenuBar=Disabled line. I also tried
making the config file read-only - then obviously the line doesn't get
changed/added, but Kate's behaviour is the same. I'm talking about config files
~/.local/share/kate/sessions/d.katesession (my session name is 'd')
and
~/.local/share/kate/anonymous.katesession

KWrite does have a menu bar.

Not sure what could have changed - I don't think Kate was updated
recently and nothing seems related in the update history (though I'm not
so familiar with related packages so it could be that some dependency
got updated).

[Bug 1665941] Re: Wine requiring older version

2017-02-18 Thread jre
Thanks for your report.

I don't know ies4linux - sounds as if it already incorporates Wine
somehow, and maybe the ies4linux devs need to fix this.

Otherwise it looks as if this has to be handled by upstream directly
(you already use it directly, so there's not much Ubuntu involved here
anyway). Can you file a bug at http://bugs.winehq.org/ and notify this
bug report here about it? If ies4linux is freely available please
provide a download link for the installer, so that the devs can test.

[Bug 1665943] [NEW] Home directory has wrong ownership if created by lxd in arranging a mount first

2017-02-18 Thread Robie Basak
Public bug reported:

I'm doing something like this in my lxc config:

config:
  raw.idmap: both 1000 1000
devices:
  foo:
path: /home/ubuntu/foo
source: /home//foo
type: disk

This is to make /home/ubuntu/foo map to my host's /home//foo.

However, if I do this before starting the container for the first time,
then /home/ubuntu inside the container ends up owned by root. The ubuntu
user cannot write to it, which causes various problems.

Presumably this is because at the time that cloud-init attempts to
create the ubuntu user, /home/ubuntu already exists, so it leaves it
alone. But this breaks my use case.

I wonder if there's a way that cloud-init could detect and accomodate
this situation?

Workaround: I can fix this with:
  runcmd:
- chown ubuntu. /home/ubuntu

Using a 16.04 host, lxd 2.0.8-0ubuntu1~ubuntu16.04.2, and a Xenial guest
with cloud-init 0.7.8-49-g9e904bb-0ubuntu1~16.04.4.

[Bug 1310823] Re: [Dell Inspiron 1525] Ubuntu freezes when lid closed

2017-02-18 Thread Greg Wilson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1331654 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1331654

I have this problem as well:
- My Dell Latitude D400 freezes when I close the lid (it then requires hard
reboot).
- However, I have no problem when display is turned off due to inactivity
timeout.
I am running Ubuntu 16.10 Server (32-bits) in forcepae mode.
I understand a patch has been developed. Has it been released?

[Bug 1622043] Re: Allow the user to move window controls to the right

2017-02-18 Thread Tom Adelstein
I don't understand why designers should dictate every potential option
of my user interphase.

I'm not sure of the status of this issue. I have moved users to Ubuntu
Desktop from Windows. They had the choice of upgrading their Windows
desktops from earlier versions of the OS to Windows 10. Windows 10
allows older hardware to run faster. Running faster on old hardware has
always been a staple of Linux.

I have to switch from Ubuntu to Windows 10 for work. That's necessary to
use Adobe's Photographic Cloud suite. Changing back to Unity on my
laptop does cause inconveniences. I cannot find justification that
suggests designers should dictate my user interphase. Even Adobe gives
me more choices. I can work on Windows and, or Mac using the hotkey
options.

Downloaded Sept. 20 daily build of 13.10, 64 bit, desktop ISO, md5sum
checked it, used "create startup disk" on 13.04 secure boot host to make
USB live media, rebooted from it, and successfully installed 13.10 to
another USB. Target USB had gpt partitioning, had an EFI partition set
- up on it, and bootloader target was the UEB's EFI partition. The USB
- installation boots successfully, but the laptop no longer boots from its
- hard disk, leaving you at the grub prompt. The cause was the installation
- improperly changed the hard disk's grub.cfg
+ up on it, and the user selected bootloader location was the USB's EFI
partition. The USB installation does not boot (ESP is empty, bug 1173457) and
the laptop no longer boots from its hard disk, leaving you at the grub prompt.

- Expected change to hard disk's /EFI/ubuntu/grub.cfg -- None.
- Actual change to hard disk's /EFI/ubuntu.grub.cfg -- The uuid in the
- "set root" just before the configfile command was reset from the hard
- disk to the (no longer present) target USB.
+ The cause bootfailure was twofold:
+ 1)The installation improperly changed the hard disk's grub.cfg (bug 1173457).
+ 2)The NVRAM boot entry was improperly changed from shimx64.efi to grubx64.efi
(this bug) which will not boot when secure boot is enabled.

- Additionally, no NVRAM changes were expected from installing to a USB
- stick, but a new boot entry was created. This boot entry was a correct
- (for secure boot) -- /EFI/ubuntu/shimx64.efi. NVRAM is a finite
- resource, which when used up leaves your machine bricked, or relying on an
- untested vendor supplied reset, so any unnecessary additions are highly
- undesirable.
+ No NVRAM changes or additions were expected from installing to a USB
+ stick. The existing NVRAM boot entry was correct for secure boot --
/EFI/ubuntu/shimx64.efi. The changed NVRAM was /EFI/ubuntu/grubx64.efi and
+ is incorrect for a secure boot, it doesn't work.

- Editing the hard disk's improper grub.cfg file by putting in the correct
- UUID allowed the laptop to boot successfully. The EFI menu now has an
- additional ubuntu entry, which also boots successfully. To summarize,
- creating or updating a USB installation should not change anything in
- NVRAM nor on the hard disk's EFI partition. This 13.10 installation did both.
- (The update reference was to a 12.10 USB update, which changed the NVRAM
- shim boot entry's disk code and removed it from the boot order (no bug
- filed), so these issues are not new to 13.10.)
+ Additional notes: The shim entry which was changed to grub was not the
+ default, Windows was the default boot entry.

Hardware: Toshiba Satellite S855-5378, Insydh20 firmware version 6.60,
8G memory, 750G hard disk, Intel HD4000 video, running dual boot W8 and
fully patched 64 bit 13.04 Ubuntu desktop with secure boot enabled. The only
secure boot issue with this machine is the inability to boot Windows
from grub (bug 1091464), so Windows is the default, and the EFI menu is used
- to select Ubuntu to run shim/grub. The original Ubuntu selection's path is
- actually grubx64.efi, which is incorrect for secure boot, but
- in /EFI/Boot is a copy of shim.efi named bootx64.efi and grubx64.efi, which
must be a
- fallback, because the boot succeeds anyway. The original shim Ubuntu
- selection was improperly changed/removed from boot order and the EFI
- menu by a USB 12.10 update (and never added back since a working EFI choice
- existed).
+ to select Ubuntu to run shim/grub. In /EFI/Boot is a copy of shimx64.efi
named bootx64.efi and a copy of grubx64.efi. This machine uses this as a
+ fallback, allowing Ubuntu to boot.

[Bug 1664746] Re: Request for sponsorship for new upstream release (zesty deb provided)

2017-02-18 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I don't think there is any need to move the files installed to
/usr/share/doc to the onboard package instead of onboard-common. I don't
think the HACKING file is useful to users (only to developers who will
probably need to use bzr anyway) so I'll stop installing it.

It's ok to install the .conf files with a wildcard to /usr/share/doc
because this only affects the build files. That wildcard does not move
or remove any .conf files already installed on a user's computer. I
might spell it out any way since there is only one file affected so a
wildcard isn't needed (the wildcard was there in the old Ubuntu package;
I just pointed it /usr/share/doc instead).

Mike wants to keep using copyright.in but I don't know how that works so
I'll let him do it.

Mike usually uses changelog entries automatically generated from git
commit messages to the packaging repo; they can be manually adjusted but
it means I usually keep my changelog entries there even shorter than I
normally do.

I'll upload 1.4.1 to zesty tomorrow (Sunday); it takes Mike a while to
review stuff some times.

[Bug 1656155] Re: System (keyboard & touchpad) freezes

2017-02-18 Thread Viacheslav
I did fresh install.

Currently I am on Ubuntu 16.04 with `uname -r` -> 4.4.0-62-generic. I
checked Ubuntu 16.10 on Feb 17 2017, sorry, but didn't check kernel
version, but assure it was fresh as possible (after install I made `sudo
apt upgrade`).

Also I found that, maybe, all freezes occur in Chrome browser (in my
scenario), so respectively to assumptions that Intel Graphic is guilty
in this bug I switched off GPU support in Chrome settings and keep
watching my laptop.

[Bug 1647204] Re: 1.8.0-2 FTBFS in zesty 17.04

2017-02-18 Thread Jose Manuel Santamaria Lema
Hi again, I think I'm done now with a proposal for upload, the package was
tested in this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~panfaust/+archive/ubuntu/gpgme

Note that I also tested a rebuild of kf5-kdepim-apps-libs against it; right now
kf5-kdepim-apps-libs is failing against the current version in -proposed,
making some autopkgtests fail and blocking the migration of some kde libraries.
See, for instance:
https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html#kiconthemes

So we would really appreciate if someone could upload this fixed
package.

If you think the proposed fix can be improved, suggestions are welcomed
:)

[Bug 1665930] [NEW] FTBFS on all arches

Public bug reported:

This package currently fails to build on all arches, dropping the patch
