one had this problem after changing the dock position just like me):

- Restore dock position to it's default value

I believe I know what's happening: it looks like Ubuntu created a
virtual screen. If I put my mouse pointer to the right, it vanishes the

Same problem here - booting kubuntu 17.10 using the new, default
'lowlatency' kernel led to a black screen. Manually selecting the
'generic' kernel via the advanced options in grub worked fine. I've got
an nvidia 780 card.
