[Bug 1749247] Re: Spurious SEGV running inside kvm
Ok, this is just at the memcopy above. I see in this trace that the AC_MEMCPY got mapped to __memmove_ssse3 of ../sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/memcpy-ssse3.S Lets assume (for the sake of trying something until you have a simplified reproducer) that sse3 might be broken in KVM on your system. I'd expect that the compile time detection switched to memmove and the runtime feature detection found sse3 and used that. We could do two things to try here: 1. we could modify your guest to not expose sse3 and retest in there (-cpu qemu64/qemu32 will be without sse3 and without a lot other special HW features - if you run with -cpu host you can do "-enable-kvm -cpu host,-sse3" to just kill this feature). How do you start your KVM guest (commandline, libvirt, other - so we know how to help you modify? 2. we could try to influence the build to not use memmove but memcpy or bcopy instead and check if that makes it work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1749247 Title: Spurious SEGV running inside kvm To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/1749247/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1728742] Re: curtin dname for bcache uses unstable devname instead of UUID
** Description changed: + [Impact] + + * Current users of bcache devices may encounter unreliable device +numbering as the Linux kernel does not guarantee that bcache +minor numbers are assigned to the same devices at each boot. +Users who may have used /dev/bcacheN in paths to a specific +device could possible be pointing to a different dataset +altogether. bcache udev rules do provide some mechanism to +generate persistent symlinks in /dev/bcache/by-uuid or +/dev/bcache/by-label which is based on superblock data on +the underlying device. However, the Linux kernel does not +always generate an kernel uevent to trigger the udev rules +to create the symlink. + + * The fix adds a udev program which will read bcache superblock +of slave devices and extract the UUID and LABEL, exporting them +to udev for use in the bcache rule files. + + * This is affected in upstream bcache-tools, the owning package +of the udev rules. This affects all releases of bcache-tools +as the rules rely upon the kernel to trigger these events, +though that is not a requirement to resolve the lack of +persistent links. + + [Test Case] + + * Launch and Ubuntu Cloud Image with 3 unused disks +- apt install bcache-tools tree +- make-bcache -C /dev/vdb +- make-bcache -B /dev/vdc +- make-bcache -B /dev/vdd +- echo "vdc" > /sys/class/block/bcache0/bcache/label +- echo "vdd" > /sys/class/block/bcache1/bcache/label +- reboot + +- Run this test: + + #!/bin/bash + FAIL=0 + [ ! -d /dev/bcache ] && { + echo "FAIL: /dev/bcache is not a directory"; + exit 1 + } + for label in /dev/bcache/by-label/*; do + LABEL_TARGET="$(ls -1 /sys/class/block/`basename $label`/holders/)" + DEVNAME=`readlink -f $label`; + KNAME="${DEVNAME#*/dev/}" + if [ "$LABEL_TARGET" != "$KNAME" ]; then + echo "FAIL: label points to $LABEL_TARGET but symlink points to $DEVNAME"; + FAIL=1 + fi; + done + if [ "$FAIL" == "0" ]; then + echo "PASS"; + exit 0 + fi + exit 1 + + + [Regression Potential] + + * As bcache minor numbers and these symlinks have been unreliable in +the past there may be code that makes assumptions about +/dev/bcache* expanded only to the block devices, versus +/dev/bcache which is a directory. + + + [Original Description] + Bcache device names like /dev/bcache0 are unstable. Bcache does not use any predictable ordering when assembling bcache devices, so on systems with multiple bcache devices, a symlink to /dev/bcache0 may end up pointing do a different device. the bcache dname symlink should point to the /dev/bcache/by-uuid/ which matches the backing device UUID that's set at creation time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1728742 Title: curtin dname for bcache uses unstable devname instead of UUID To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bcache-tools/+bug/1728742/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1749420] Re: Colour banding and artefacts appear system-wide on an Intel HD Graphics 4400 system
Another possibility is that LCD panel dithering (controlled by the i915 kernel driver) has changed between kernel versions. If your LCD panel is natively 6-bits per channel then the kernel should be turning on dithering for you, since the shell is typically rendered as 8-bits per channel. If dithering is not enabled then you will see banding and effectively see a loss of 75% of your colours and gradients. But the tricky part is for a developer to find a machine with the same problem. The problem will be specific to your GPU model (the dithering logic in i915 varies between generations), and specific to the LCD panel type in that laptop. Effectively we will need to find a similar Haswell laptop with a similar LCD type, which is the hard part... ** Summary changed: - Colour banding and artefacts appear system-wide on an Intel HD Graphics 4400 system + Colour banding and artefacts appear system-wide on an Asus Zenbook UX303 with Intel HD 4400 graphics -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1749420 Title: Colour banding and artefacts appear system-wide on an Asus Zenbook UX303 with Intel HD 4400 graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1749420/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1728565] Re: Desktop (screen) corrupted after upgrade to 17.10
I believe I have a workaround to this. I had exactly the same on 17.10 on an Acer Aspire One, reinstalled 16.04 and still had it. I also had it clear up if the machine suspended and resumed. It looked to me like it was related to the grub splash screen, just based on it messing up before the GUI starts and the portion of the screen that got corrupted. I changed the grub config in /etc/default/grub to the following... GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="" <- edit the existing line GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=text <- add this line Then updated grub with sudo update-grub and rebooted. [Bug 1749425] Re: Neutron integrated with OpenVSwitch drops packets and fails to plug/unplug interfaces from OVS on router interfaces at scale
You described a lot of issues in comment #14: * Missing interfaces inside qrouter namespaces (OVS taps) * Missing iptables rules * Missing floating IP aliases on OVS interfaces inside the qrouter namespaces Some of those might be fixed in master, especially the iptables one, and should have been cherry-picked to the stable branches but probably only to Ocata. The "add floating ip" path should re-queue the message and retry in a second or two, if it doesn't then please see if there is a trackback and put the info here or another bug. There could also be something happening with keepalived where it's not getting things done, since it is managing the VIPs when HA is enabled. Finally, regarding the traceback, I've never seen that before. My first thought is to sprinkle "if instance" in all those code paths, but maybe there's something else going on here that we should figure out. For example, if the initial creation of the instance failed, then a message came to add a floating IP, returning without doing anything (not instance case) isn't what we want to do. This would require some log examination to figure out what exactly happened. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1749425 Title: Neutron integrated with OpenVSwitch drops packets and fails to plug/unplug interfaces from OVS on router interfaces at scale To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/neutron/+bug/1749425/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
