[Bug 1949579] Re: [MIR] postgresql-14
Some smaller fixes related got uploaded to Ubuntu recently: - https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postgis/3.1.4+dfsg-3ubuntu1 - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postgresql-14/+bug/1953128 But all of them still wait on the overall transition to happen. As usual we waited for the transition in Debian to complete to then follow accordingly. This now happened, [1] is over and it is time to resolve whatever is missing on our side to let the same happen. postgresql-14 | 14.1-1| testing| source, amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390x postgresql-14 | 14.1-1| unstable | source, armel, armhf, s390x postgresql-14 | 14.1-3| unstable | source, amd64, arm64, i386, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el postgresql-14 | 14.1-1ubuntu1 | jammy-proposed/universe | source, amd64, arm64, armhf, ppc64el, riscv64, s390x Note: the armel/armhf issue is bug 1953128 and thereby not holding us back. [Bug 1953128] Re: GCC ICE: in create_fix_barrier, at config/arm/arm.c:17891
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postgresql-14/14.1-1ubuntu1 is already in proposed and fine in regard to the build - so I guess this can be "Fix committed". Furthermore I found that Debian is affected by the very same. The build structure changed a bit, but I submitted it there (to be able to make it a sync again) via: https://salsa.debian.org/postgresql/postgresql-common/-/merge_requests/15 Due to a centralization of the build structure this then needs the new postgresql-common followed by making postgresql-14 a sync again afterwards. ** Changed in: postgresql-14 (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Fix Committed ** Changed in: postgresql-14 (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Christian Ehrhardt (paelzer) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1953128 Title: GCC ICE: in create_fix_barrier, at config/arm/arm.c:17891 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-11/+bug/1953128/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Verified the new linux-firmware and firmware-sof-signed on the jammy: A lenovo TGL laptop already installed the 22.04, run sudo apt-get update; sudo apt dist-upgrade; the output shows the firmware-sof-signed package will be installed and the linux-firmware will be upgraded. Input Y and press Enter button, the system will get those packages, unpack them and setup them. there is no any error during the process. After the dist-upgrade finishes, run ls /lib/intel/sof/ -la and ls /lib/intel/sof-tplg/ -la, all files are installed as expected. reboot, the sof audio driver successfully loads the sof-tgl.ri and topology file and audio function works well. Thanks for reporting this bug. Offhand it's not entirely clear what happened, however the error message "Waiting for cache lock: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend" generally crops up when two apt processes collide, such as a user-requested apt operation while unattended-upgrade is running (or vice versa maybe). In particular, it would be super helpful to understand how to reproduce this particular broken condition. I suspect whatever situation led to the locking issue is unrelated to mysql. [Bug 1953409] [NEW] Timeshift mounts unclean partitions to back up onto? And observations.
Public bug reported: So, I had an absolute horror of a time which badly broke my system in a number of ways. Tracing things back it appears to originate with Timeshift. Although I can't readily say which version because things were that broken (I might be able to dig it up if essential). The crux of it seems to be that timeshift seeks to mount a filesystem to perform backups to, even if it is corrupted. This causes all sorts of "fun things" to happen. To which I have the following observations/suggestions: - Timeshift should not mount and attempt to back up to corrupted filesystems. - Timeshift should ensure that its behaviour does not cause updatedb to be run on the filesystem it has mounted. Perhaps by a filter being added to updatedb, I don't know? - Because I think mounting filesystems silently like that is the unintuitive behaviour that lead to it. Updatedb is just doing what it says on the tin. /var/log/kern.log:Jan 10 20:47:09 marius kernel: [ 363.671082] EXT4-fs error (device dm-4): ext4_lookup:1703: inode #7086099: comm updatedb.mlocat: deleted inode referenced: 7119161 /var/log/kern.log.1:Jan 9 14:00:02 marius kernel: [ 379.513273] EXT4-fs error (device dm-4): ext4_lookup:1703: inode #5505033: comm timeshift: deleted inode referenced: 9178184 - Also, use of corrupted filesystems exacerbates corruption, furthermore (I think?) the use of hard links by timeshift for space saving makes the fsck problems to fix it again exponentially worse due to 'duplicate reference' errors etc. And the following indirectly related suggestions for documentation etc: - Shouldn't documentation be abundandly clear timeshift WILL NOT guard against hardware failures? (RTFM?). - Lack of NFS support put me in this situation. Understandable but what remote protocols (if any) Will work? iSCSI? Some documentation on that would be good? - An rsync type backup to a subdirectory should not preclude the partition from being used for anything else, but timeshift's behaviour appears to indicate it *does* preclude that? - I find timeshift's (IIRC) default exclusion of /home frankly bizarre and unintuitive? Perhaps there should be an install-time dialogue to ask if you want this to happen? PS. Apologies this is a bit rough and ready (and indeed probably warrants multiple bugs), but I wanted to finally get this bug filed today as I'd been dealing with the partition that was victim to this issue again (thankfully the fsck didn't take as long as I feared to get through manually, but data loss is still a possibility, TBC). As you can tell from the timestamps below it's already taken me a long time to get to it, and I'm only doing it now way past bed time when already tired. ** Affects: timeshift (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1953409 Title: Timeshift mounts unclean partitions to back up onto? [Bug 1953403] Re: Ubuntu 22.04: dmesg not working
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You need to elevate your privileges with `sudo`, ie. `sudo dmesg` for security reasons. When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. I won't get you to add this detail now, but will mark this bug as incomplete instead. If you believe I'm in error you can change status back to 'new', but more details will be required. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1953403 Title: Ubuntu 22.04: dmesg not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1953403/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1953407] [NEW] [MIR] lz4 (again!)
Public bug reported: Between the xenial (16.04) and hirsute (21.04) releases, lz4 was in main, and after 2019 was used by default for initramfs compression. In impish onwards, that compression was changed to zstd by default and lz4 was demoted to universe. Unfortunately, zstd is unsuitable for low-memory / slow platforms such as the relatively new Pi Zero 2 (or the older 3A+) which both have only 512MB of RAM (see LP: #1950214 for further details). As such, we need lz4 back in main to support (at least) the Pi images. As this could be considered a re-hash of the previous MIR in LP: #1531923, I've not (yet) included the usual MIR sections as I'm not sure a full (re-)review is required? [Bug 1953235] Re: systemctl suspend stopped working: laptop immeadeately wakes up again
For whatever reason (old config, or nvidia unreasonable default) the new driver got installed with `PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1`, which without additional nvidia services doesn't work, and so suspend breaks. To fix: ```shell echo 'options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=0' | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf sudo update-initramfs -u # this took a long while to figure out ``` Make sure `/etc/modprobe.d/anything.conf` doesn't have conflicting options. Suspend now works, case closed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_36yNWw_07g -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1953235 Title: systemctl suspend stopped working: laptop immeadeately wakes up again To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-signed-hwe-5.11/+bug/1953235/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
