[Bug 1921664] Re: Coroutines are racy for risc64 emu on arm64 - crash on Assertion
No, as I described in great detail it has nothing to do with the attached devices. I just noticed that the bug was excused away as being do to the “slow” RPi 4. I’ll share that I originally hit it on Apple’s M1 but as I expect my environment might be too unusual I replicated it on RPi 4. [Bug 1890230] Re: arm64 ipxe package isn't an arm64 build
Hi Dimitri, thanks for the suggestion - it isn't that we deliver "x86 on arm" instead it is an arch-all package that - as of today - only has builds for x86. So while it is a slight difference we "deliver x86 everywhere as intended" and the request is to also deliver arm64. On the ISO (also x86 only atm) it is already following the efi specs and there it is "::efi/boot/bootx64.efi" Debian is slow to follow on ipxe updates even when suggesting PRs doing the work in the past. Due to that there might be dependencies for the current filename for quite a while. But we could switch to the format you suggested while keeping a compat link on the old name to the new one. Once @xinliang had a chance to test that PPA-build I might want/need to check if we could indeed build this for even more supported architectures (need to check what ipxe upstream claims to support). Then I could enable all those and follow the suggested naming pattern. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890230 Title: arm64 ipxe package isn't an arm64 build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ipxe/+bug/1890230/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1921664] Re: Coroutines are racy for risc64 emu on arm64 - crash on Assertion
I've been having crashes with the same assertion message, when trying to run Windows 10 ARM under a VM. But I finally figured out that what's actually crashing it is not the fact that it's Windows, it's the fact that I was attaching the virtual drive via virtual USB. If I do the same thing to an Ubuntu ARM64 guest, it *also* crashes. qemu-system-aarch64: ../../block/aio_task.c:64: aio_task_pool_wait_one: Assertion `qemu_coroutine_self() == pool->main_co' failed With the RISC-V guest, does your crash change if you change the type of attachment that's used for the virtual disk? Also, I tried enabling core dumps in libvirt, but it didn't seem to dump cores to apport. Enabling core dumps would be useful for issues like this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1921664 Title: Coroutines are racy for risc64 emu on arm64 - crash on Assertion To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/1921664/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1894454] Re: [nvidia] Screen freeze (GPU MMU faults reported by the kernel driver) on Quadro K620
14 months later, now Jan 2022, the same issue still persists with two different NVidia Quadro cards. Exact same symptoms, random freeze of the graphics screen. Mouse and Keyboard unresponsive. Sound and microphone continue to work, for example, I can continue the Zoom meeting with only audio. The moment the freeze occurred is totally unpredictable, could be +1 day or 2 hours. - Ubuntu 20.04.3 - Video cards: Quadro NVS 310 and Quadro K600 - This issue occur whether the driver is nouveau. I have tried to use the proprietary nvidia 470 which didn't fix the problem. Sorry no detailed diagnostic info (I don't know how to get these). But by the similarities of the issue, I think it is the same than what OP reported. [Bug 1958094] [NEW] cups-filters should not recommend lynx since it's in universe
Public bug reported: cups-filters 1.28.11-1 now recommends lynx for a braille convert to HTML feature. lynx is in universe and it's not allowed for packages in main to recommend packages in universe. Suggestions --- 1. We could just lower it to a Suggests since this might not be a feature we need to enable by default. (You can look at the file-roller for an example of how to tweak dependencies for Ubuntu but still keep the packaging in sync with Debian) 2. If it is acceptable to install w3m by default, maybe this feature could be updated to use w3m instead. This may be worth doing even if we lower the dependency to a Suggests. I suggest reaching out to the Debian Accessibility Team member Samuel Thibault since it looks like this is his code. ** Affects: cups-filters (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Tags: jammy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958094 Title: cups-filters should not recommend lynx since it's in universe To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-filters/+bug/1958094/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

There is also a manual test plan https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlan/flatpak . Flatpak has autopkgtests enabled http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/f/flatpak . Regression potential is low, and upstream is very responsive to any issues raised. [Patches] There are two separate github advisories but only one of them has a CVE. The advisory with the CVE has 5 patches, the other has 2 patches. - [Other Information] For the first advisory with the CVE: Ryan Gonzalez discovered that Flatpak doesn't properly validate that the permissions displayed to the user for an app at install time match the actual permissions granted to the app at runtime, in the case that there's a null byte in the metadata file of an app. Therefore apps can grant themselves permissions without the consent of the user. Flatpak shows permissions to the user during install by reading them from the "xa.metadata" key in the commit metadata. This cannot contain a null terminator, because it is an untrusted GVariant. Flatpak compares these permissions to the actual metadata, from the "metadata" file to ensure it wasn't lied to. However, the actual metadata contents are loaded in several places where they are read as simple C-style strings. That means that, if the metadata file includes a null terminator, only the content of the file from before the terminator gets compared to xa.metadata. Thus, any permissions that appear in the metadata file after a null terminator are applied at runtime but not shown to the user. Maliciously crafted apps can use this to give themselves hidden permissions. In addition, a similar weakness was discovered, where if the permissions in the summary metadata are invalid, they would not be displayed to the user, but the the actual permissions would be granted, even though it didn't match the invalid version. - For the second advisory: flatpak-builder applies finish-args last in the build. At this point the build directory will have the full access that is specified in the manifest, so running flatpak build against it will gain that permissions. Normally this will not be done, so this is not problem. However, if --mirror-screenshots-url is specified, then flatpak-builder will launch flatpak build --nofilesystem=host appstream-utils mirror- screenshots after finalization, which can lead to issues even with the --nofilesystem=host protection. - These changes result in a behaviour change as debian have noted in their changelog: - * Behaviour changes, as a result of how GHSA-8ch7-5j3h-g4fx was fixed: - - --nofilesystem=host is now special-cased to negate all --filesystem - permissions. Previously, it would cancel out --filesystem=host but - not --filesystem=/some/dir. - - --nofilesystem=home is now special-cased to negate several - home-directory-related filesystem permssions such as - --filesystem=xdg-config/foo, not just --filesystem=host. + * Behaviour changes, as a result of how GHSA-8ch7-5j3h-g4fx was fixed: + - --nofilesystem=host is now special-cased to negate all --filesystem + permissions. But also when it is so I agree a message for the user is better than quietly do nothing or just crash. Anyway, maybe I have a little more information which might help. I tested with an nfs mount and also (the same album folder) with a samba share mounted with cifs. The behaviour of digikam is the same. I can't say if file locking (and that seems to be the problem with sqlite) is working with samba or not. I can work with V. 0.8.x and 0.9b1 having the album on the network mount. Importing images from the camera works, creating album folder and adding comments or tags - no problem. What's not working is ... 1. to enable the option "Search for new photos on startup" (don't know the exact wording) This will bring up a box on startup with a progress bar which goes to 99% and that's it. Nothing happens. Starting digikiam in the shell gives no output. Interestingly this worked once with V.0.8.?. (By the way, would be nice to have an "update album" function to search for new photos.) Disabling the option makes digikam work again. ~/.kde/share/config/digikamrc: [General Settings] Scan At Start=false 2. importing files or folder into the album. This start a copy process with a normal kde copy box. The box does not change and stays at 0% forever. Surprisingly the files are copied into the right place. It's said that nfs and sqlite doesn't work, but that's not true. Even digikam works. What's not working are the import function of digikam. This might be related to sqlite, I don't know. In my opinion, sqlite on an nfs share shouldn't make any difference when only one user access the db - it's just slower. It would be nice if that get fixed in 0.9 Reply at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/digikam/+bug/48282/comments/7 On 2006-08-15T16:55:13+00:00 Rf-kde wrote: One addition. [Bug 1958089] Re: Acer laptop screen goes black after a few hours of work
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1958089/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1958090] [NEW] Kate: navigation keys do not cancel mark
Public bug reported: SUMMARY Pressing a navigation key without SHIFT does not cancel a mark. STEPS TO REPRODUCE I mark a piece of text in Kate with SHIFT+DOWN key and press CTRL+C. When I now press the DOWN key (without SHIFT) the mark is extended. I have to hit the ESC key to cancel the mark. OBSERVED RESULT I have to hit the ESC key to cancel the mark. EXPECTED RESULT Using a navigation key (UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, PAGE-UP, PAGE-DOWN, HOME, END) without SHIFT should cancel a mark. This worked fine in prior releases of Kate and matches the behavior of other editors. The problem has been resolved upstream. [Bug 1958086] [NEW] "Load random example" fails because examples are in subdirectories
Public bug reported: In the File menu, "Load random example" fails, saying "Error: Could not open examples". This is because examples are in subdirectories of /usr/share/XaoS/examples, and XaoS is not capable of finding examples in subdirectories. XaoS looks in /usr/share/XaoS/examples and in a few other non-existent places for examples, but never in subdirectories where the examples actually are. To fix this you can move or link examples to /usr/share/XaoS/examples. For example you can: cd /usr/share/XaoS/examples && sudo find . -name \*.xpf -exec ln -s "{}" . \; ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 21.10 Package: xaos 4.2.1-2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.13.0-25.26-generic 5.13.19 Uname: Linux 5.13.0-25-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu71 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Sun Jan 16 14:26:05 2022 SourcePackage: xaos UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to impish on 2021-10-02 (106 days ago) ** Affects: xaos (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug impish -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958086 Title: "Load random example" fails because examples are in subdirectories To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xaos/+bug/1958086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1854588] Re: gdebi-gtk calls pkexec inappropriately
I have no idea what I'm doing here in terms of submission processes, but I attempted to submit a patch for this issue: https://code.launchpad.net/~macg3/ubuntu/+source/gdebi/+git/gdebi/+merge/414211 I suspect I may have done something wrong in the submission process because "git-ubuntu import" is listed as the code reviewer. It was really confusing because there was also a bzr project for this package that is outdated, and it appears it has been moved to Git. Anyway, this patch fixes the issue by adding a separate python script that acts as the parent process for pkexec. [Bug 1958084] [NEW] Please apply the upstream commit to drop Bitstream Vera fonts
Public bug reported: Upstream dropped Bitstream Vera fonts, please apply that fix in the Ubuntu package. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/fontconfig/fontconfig/-/commit/fcb042028126d79ea5a5fa015b2b034b98656e73 Rationale: DejaVu font extends the Bitstream Vera font, and is already installed by default. Besides, the Bitstream Vera font is very obsolete, looks worse than DejaVu and sometimes as a negative side effect it takes over as a default font when installed (without DejaVu). After applying the upstream fix, this Ubuntu patch becomes obsolete (03_prefer_dejavu.patch): https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/tree/debian/patches/03_prefer_dejavu.patch You may also think about updating the whole package to an up-to-date snapshot, since the last Debian/Ubuntu version update was in 2018. ** Affects: fontconfig (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: fontconfig (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958084 Title: Please apply the upstream commit to drop Bitstream Vera fonts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/+bug/1958084/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
