[Bug 1968109] Re: "Apply changes" button remains disabled after selecting Wi-Fi driver in Software Sources

2022-04-06 Thread Samuel Santaella
Forgot to add: the date in the screen record file is not correct because
this laptop doesn't have a battery (that's on me; I'm working on that).
I don't remember exactly when I took the screen record itself, but the
recorded "last modified" time is April 2, 2022 at 7:33 PM. I transferred
it to my smartphone offline (via cable) before transferring it to
another computer (again via cable; it was the easy option for me) to
send this bug report. This is the Ubuntu Studio 22.04 "beta" ISO, not a
daily release.

In Ubuntu Studio 21.10, I can get the correct time after I connect to
the Internet, *because* I can do so.

[Bug 1968109] [NEW] "Apply changes" button remains disabled after selecting Wi-Fi driver in Software Sources

2022-04-06 Thread Samuel Santaella
Public bug reported:

I'm testing the live USB of Ubuntu Studio 22.04 beta on a mid-2009
MacBook Pro. (Can't do a full install yet.) Wi-Fi doesn't work out of
the box.

What I expect to happen is something I can do successfully in Ubuntu
Studio 21.10 (live USB). Wi-Fi also didn't work out of the box in that
version. In KDE Settings I click on "Driver Manager", which
automatically opens Software Sources (that's the only way I know how to
get there). It finds and shows my [proprietary Broadcom] Wi-Fi driver; I
click on it, then the "Apply Changes" button is enabled after a second
or two. I click that, wait about half a minute with a progress bar in
action below, and then the Wi-Fi options appear the notification area,
allowing me to connect.

I attached a screen record of what actually happens in Ubuntu Studio
22.04 beta (thankfully this distro comes with screen recording software
out of the box). When I click on "Driver Manager", a "xterm" window
(version 372-1ubuntu1 I think?) opens unexpectedly with some code
showing up in it (the code is in the screen record), shortly before
Software Sources (version 0.99.20) opens as expected. The same driver
still appears on the list. When I click on the driver, it seems to still
take that second or two to transition, with some more code appearing in
"xterm", but the "Apply Changes" button never enables itself. It remains
disabled so I can't click it. The "revert" button directly next to it is
also disabled. Thus, I can't connect my computer to Wi-Fi in 22.04 beta.

[Bug 1968110] [NEW] can not disable zfs snapshot/pool/filesystem scanning in grub

2022-04-06 Thread pseudoterminal X0
Public bug reported:

I've currently got an issue where encrypted backups on an external pool
whose key are unavailable are being scanned during `grub-mkconfig`,
causing it to error out during `zfs_mount_at()` because the key is
unavailable.

I've traced it down to the /etc/grub.d/10_linux_zfs support file which
scans pools and filesystems indiscriminately, no options to configure in
/etc/default/grub or /etc/default/zfs.

Although, /etc/default/zfs has the `ZPOOL_IMPORT_ALL_VISIBLE='no'` that
I have set explicitly, and it is ignored during grub-mkconfig only. Even
if my zpool isn't imported, it's scanned (I hear the HDD spin up) and
erroneously included.

[Bug 245030] Re: quilt ignoring QUILT_PATCHES environment variable

2022-04-06 Thread Chris Carlin
Just in case someone else comes across this issue, on my setup it was
traced back to the .pc subdirectory. Removing it fixed it.

I had started a new patchfile before setting the environmental variable,
and after setting it quilt was still looking in the wrong place due to
work it was leaving in the .pc directory.

Maybe this will help someone searching for the same behavior.

Tamazight is the mother language where multiple other languages inherited from
it. Including Tarifit.
And what’s apply for Tarifit does mean that can apply for another sub-tamazight
languages, and vice versa. So we believe that lang_name should be “Tarifit”.

Should we resend the patch by email with your improvements?
Thank you very much for your time.

According to Wikipedia, “Tarifit” is the name of the language in
English.

lang_name should contain the endonym whereas

language   "Tarifit"

should contain the English name.

Thank you for you help and your work on improving the locale.
everything seems to be ok. Just the name. it's a locale for "Tarifit", and not
"Tmazit". because the last one is another language.

And by the way. we did send the patch for the unmodified locale. and it pass
the build successfully, if you want to take a look here:
https://patchwork.sourceware.org/project/glibc/patch/20220125172555.2527278-1...@ipshel.com/

Thank you a lot.

[Bug 1926312]

2022-04-06 Thread Maiku-fabian
Created attachment 14051
Slighly improved rif_MA

I used ASCII characters directly instead of , for example:

abday   "Le";/
"Let";/
"Ttl";/
"Lar";/
"Lex";/
"Jje";/
"Sbt"

Only for non ASCII characters we are still using the code point
notation, using the ASCII characters directly makes it a lot more
readable.

I also added:

lang_name"Tmazit"

Does that look OK to you?

[Bug 1965241] Re: Include DPC Fixes in Ubuntu 22.04 and 20.04

2022-04-06 Thread Michael Reed
I found that this additional patch was also needed.
Pcie_port_device_iter was added in 5.16 and referenced in the "PCI:
pciehp: Ignore Link Down/Up caused by error-induced Hot Reset" patch

commit 3134689f98f9e09004a4727370adc46e7635b4be
Author: Lukas Wunner
Date:   Fri Oct 15 13:58:40 2021 -0500

PCI/portdrv: Rename pm_iter() to pcie_port_device_iter()

Rename pm_iter() to pcie_port_device_iter() and make it visible outside
CONFIG_PM and portdrv_core.c so it can be used for pciehp slot reset
recovery.

I usually put MP3 in a different directory than PDF files, which is not either
the one i use for pictures, etc.
It would be really great if mozilla was smart enough to pick the target
directory of a saved file based on its mime type (plus some user preference)
rather than storing every file in the last used directory ...

An intermediate feature would be to support a list of user's favourite store
location.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download a tarball and put it into "install"
2. Download a mp3 and save it into "music"
3. Download a tarball again

Actual Results: aargh! you have to go back manually into "install" from
music :(

Expected Results: mozilla "see" (or i told it before) i like storing tarballs
into "install" and open the save dialog with that directory rather than
the last directory used.

Nice idea. Modern Windows versions have folders such as My Documents, My

software but the locations aren't always consistent e.g. Windows Media Player
prefers C:\My Documents\My Music whereas RealJukebox prefers C:\My Music).
These could serve as useful defaults on that platform. It should be possible to
customise these locations (and the MIME types), at the very least with a hidden
pref or possibly heuristics.

Marking NEW.

[Bug 1968100] [NEW] Reporting firefox bug redirect to general mozilla page

Public bug reported:

When reporting a bug on firefox snap. A dialog is shown, that will
redirect to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/firefox and not

If someone tries to file a bug this is pretty inconvenient.

Starting a search there on 'report bug' shows as 2nd item. Reporting bugs is

The first item is about bugs fixed in a release.

2022-04-06 Thread Athos Ribeiro
Hi Ganesh,

Thanks for reporting this issue!

I could not reproduce the issue locally. Here is what I tried so far:

From a clean focal VM, I installed tftpd tftp;
then, I installed tftpd-hpa, which is what it seems you have done by looking at
your logs.

Also checking your logs, I see the following entry:

Apr 05 11:52:27 V330-14IKB in.tftpd[10649]: cannot bind to local IPv4
socket: Address already in use

Are you running the service manually or from a different third party
package?

Could you provide detailed steps to reproduce the issue?

Since there is not enough information in your report to begin triage or to
differentiate between a local configuration problem and a bug in Ubuntu, I
am marking this bug as "Incomplete". We would be grateful if you would:
provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you
believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your
system, and then change the bug status back to "New".

For local configuration issues, you can find assistance here:

[Bug 1968035] Re: [needs-packaging] Docker cli-plugin docker-buildx missing

2022-04-06 Thread Brian Murray
*** This is an automated message ***

This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for
a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug
reports specification,
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-

[Bug 1968010] Re: Using a geometry shader on a graphics driver that supports OpenGl 3.2 but not EXT_geometry_shader4 crashes

2022-04-06 Thread Martin Pecka
I can help with independent testing on Bionic and Focal, Intel iGPU, AMD
iGPU and NVidia eGPU.

So far I did a test on Bionic/AMD with RViz trying to render some more
complicated scenes and everything worked as expected.

[Bug 1968094] [NEW] BTRFS root subvolume @ mounted always as readonly (... ro rootflags=subvol=@ ...) on Jammy

2022-04-06 Thread Milan Ulej
Public bug reported:

= Description =
On Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish (beta 220330) installed fully on BTRFS filesystem,
root subvolume (subvol=@) is always mounted as read only. There is a kernel
flag (ro) appended to GRUB configuration file /boot/grub/grub.cfg created by
script /usr/sbin/update-grub during every kernel update. Only home subvolume
(@home) is actually mounted as rw according to fstab which is correct.
Image: Jammy Beta (220330)

= Steps to Reproduce =
1. Install Jammy Beta (220330) on PC w. EFI and select FS root (/) to BTRFS
(subvolumes @ and @home are created)
2. Launch the kernel via the default grub entry

= Expected Results =
root / should be mounted as rw (mount -v | grep @), there should be no (ro)
flag on /proc/cmdline

= Actual Results =
in grub.cfg:
linux   /@/boot/vmlinuz-5.15.0-23-generic root=UUID=--...
rootflags=subvol=@ ro quiet splash $vt_handoff
in /proc/cmdline:
BOOT_IMAGE=/@/boot/vmlinuz-5.15.0-25-generic
root=UUID=981dd6de-02fc-41a9-9e2a-09dbbc776b2b ro rootflags=subvol=@ quiet
splash vt.handoff=7

[Bug 1900347] Current status

2022-04-06 Thread Larry C.
Dear Mr. Bacher,

I am a linux novice. You responded to a bug report I made in Oct
20, 2020. On February 26, 2021 there was a updated report posted here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/seahorse/+bug/1900347

So has this bug been fixed? If so were would the fixed package be? If
not when and how do bugs like this get resolved?

Thanks,

Larry C.

[Bug 1968089] [NEW] Scarlett 2i2 USB DAC (1235:8210) has distorted playback on kernel 5.13.0-39

2022-04-06 Thread eta
Public bug reported:

After updating to kernel `linux-image-5.13.0-39-generic`, my Scarlett
2i2 began playing back distorted audio (sounds overdriven and slowed
down, as if the sample rate is incorrect). To clarify, the device is
reported in libusb as:

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 1235:8210 Focusrite-Novation Scarlett 2i2 Camera

This bug is also present in 5.13.0-37-generic, but is not present in
5.13.0-35-generic; booting the -35 kernel via GRUB resolves the problem.

[Bug 1960449] Re: Backport container stack in Jammy

2022-04-06 Thread Lucas Kanashiro
In order to fix the golang-github-fsouza-go-dockerclient/1.6.0-2 and
golang-github-openshift-imagebuilder/1.1.0-2 regressions, we need to
make them build with Golang 1.16 instead of the default in Focal. This
is needed because the DEP-8 test tries to build the code and it uses the
docker.io library which relies on Golang 1.16.

[Bug 1968081] Re: [FFe] [UIFe] gnome-characters 42

2022-04-06 Thread fossfreedom
From a Ubuntu Budgie point of view, the new libadwaita app looks out of
place in our distro with adwaita's ghastly dark brown colouration. With
a GTK_THEME based override the headerbar looks broken with our default
theme (i.e. we would have used this to suggest this type of workaround
for folk that wants to use a non libadwaita theme).

However - we will not die in a ditch on this. If Ubuntu really wants
this then we would request that "ubuntu-budgie-meta" be added as
affected and we will need to use this UIFe as a way to remove gnome-
characters from our seeds - i.e. we will not ship with the app.

[Bug 1967940] Re: [UIFe] Xubuntu wallpaper for 22.04

2022-04-06 Thread Steve Langasek
This is fine. Note that the purpose of UI Freeze is to ensure adequate
time before release for teams working on translation of user-visible
strings and any documentation using screenshots to complete their work.
The former does not apply to wallpapers, the latter is something that
flavor teams can self-organize around.

[Bug 1968085] [NEW] Jammy: ds-identify: cloud-init disabled by generator due to inability to detect LXD datasource when launched from Jammy host system

2022-04-06 Thread Chad Smith
Public bug reported:

Launching Jammy KVM instances from a Jammy host where kernel is > 5.10
results in ds-identify disabling cloud-init from systemd boot targets
due to systemd-detect-virt returning "qemu" instead of "kvm".

Steps to reproduce from Jammy host
$ lxc profile show jammy-vm
config: {}
description: Default LXD profile for jammy VMs
devices:
  eth0:
name: eth0
network: lxdbr0
type: nic
  root:
path: /
pool: default
type: disk
name: jammy-vm

$ lxc launch ubuntu-daily:jammy --vm --profile jammy-vm test-jammy
$ lxc exec test-jammy -- systemd-detect-virt
qemu
$ lxc stop test-jammy
$ lxc config set test-jammy security.devlxd=false
$ lxc start test-jammy
$ lxc exec test-jammy --  DEBUG_LEVEL=2 DI_LOG=stderr
/usr/lib/cloud-init/ds-identify --force
# Ensure "no datasource detected"
$ lxc exec test-jammy -- add-apt-repository ppa:cloud-init-dev/daily
$ lxc exec test-jammy -- apt install cloud-init
$ lxc exec test-jammy --  DEBUG_LEVEL=2 DI_LOG=stderr

[Bug 1826405] Re: Repeatedly "storage error [503 Inconsistent file state], last errno: File exists

2022-04-06 Thread Dariusz Działak
For us change `VfileUseRangeOps: -1` did not solved that problem. It was
happening with our custom repository only, let say `repo.xxx.com`
(unsure why, maybe because it was changing quite often?) and after
upgrade host from Xenial or Bionic (doesn't matter) to Focal the error
started to appear very often. The problem disappeared after adding to
config entry like below:

```DontCacheRequested: .*repo.xxx.com.*InRelease```
Good news is also that, the cache for that repo still works (it was
crucial for us, because we are charged for that private repo).
[Bug 1968081] Re: [FFe] [UIFe] gnome-characters 42
2022-04-06 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Attachment added: "gnome-characters42.png"
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-characters/+bug/1968081/+attachment/5577714/+files/gnome-characters42.png
** Description changed:
  Benefit
  ---
  The new GNOME Characters app significantly improves the usability of the app,
upgrading the Unicode support from something like Unicode 9 all the way to
Unicode 14.
  The new version also removes the horizontal lines that the emoji are
  resting on. I think the UI is better without those lines.
  Comment
  ---
  GNOME Characters 42 still doesn't support emoji modifiers and sequences which
is a really big omission for an emoji app. There is a merge proposal for
version 43 and it may be worth a major SRU for 22.04 LTS later.
+
+ Other UI comments
+ -
+ The sidebar has switched to monochrome symbolic icons instead of fullcolor.
+
+ It looks like the selection highlight color is gray instead of the
+ Ubuntu color scheme. (I'm referring to Smileys & Emotion in the
+ sidebar.)
  Why This Wasn't Done Sooner
  ---
  GNOME Characters 42 switches from GTK3 to GTK4 and libadwaita. libadwaita did
not support Ubuntu 22.04's color schemes until a patch was uploaded to 22.04
today.
  Risks and Mitigation
  This version is already present in Debian Testing without new reported bugs.
  Both Ubuntu and Ubuntu Budgie includes this app by default.
  The app is standalone and does not impact other apps. We could revert if
  there were a major bug discovered.
[Bug 1968081] [NEW] [FFe] [UIFe] gnome-characters 42
2022-04-06 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:
Benefit
---
The new GNOME Characters app significantly improves the usability of the app,
upgrading the Unicode support from something like Unicode 9 all the way to
Unicode 14.
The new version also removes the horizontal lines that the emoji are
resting on. I think the UI is better without those lines.
Comment
---
GNOME Characters 42 still doesn't support emoji modifiers and sequences which
is a really big omission for an emoji app. There is a merge proposal for
version 43 and it may be worth a major SRU for 22.04 LTS later.
Other UI comments
-
The sidebar has switched to monochrome symbolic icons instead of fullcolor.
It looks like the selection highlight color is gray instead of the
Ubuntu color scheme. (I'm referring to Smileys & Emotion in the
sidebar.)
Why This Wasn't Done Sooner
---
GNOME Characters 42 switches from GTK3 to GTK4 and libadwaita. libadwaita did
not support Ubuntu 22.04's color schemes until a patch was uploaded to 22.04
today.
Risks and Mitigation
This version is already present in Debian Testing without new reported bugs.
Both Ubuntu and Ubuntu Budgie includes this app by default.
The app is standalone and does not impact other apps. We could revert if
there were a major bug discovered.
Changes
---
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-characters/-/blob/main/NEWS
gnome-characters (42.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium
  * New upstream release
- Supports Unicode 14
- Support for Emoji Sequences and Modifiers is planned
  for the 43 release
  * Drop all patches: applied in new release
  * Switch to gtk4 and libadwaita instead of gtk3 and libhandy
  * debian/control.in: Switch from gnome-desktop 3 to gnome-desktop 4
  * debian/control.in: Drop obsolete Build-Depends on libunistring
This looks fine.
I'm not reading this.  An FFe request should include a human-readable
*summary* of upstream feature-freeze-breaking that may introduce risk of
regression; a git log is not that.
FFe granted.
Re: [Bug 1967947] Re: WiFi will not connect to open WiFi with complicated re-direct
2022-04-06 Thread Kevin English
You don't consider a lack of documentation of how to connect to a basic
hotel WiFi that every other operating system can connect to a short-coming
in your documentation or product?  I have been programming for fun and
profit since 1979.  I built BSD Unix systems from source in the 1980's.  I
am not new to this and I could not figure it out.  Clearly there is a
problem with your product and no workaround documented.  Please fix this
and do not so readily close this issue.
[Bug 1960615] Re: pgloader autopkgtests fail for lack of OpenSSL 3.0 support
2022-04-06 Thread Athos Ribeiro
The cl-plus-ssl issue seems to be fixed.
for pgloader, we are now hitting
https://github.com/dimitri/pgloader/issues/153: i.e., when trying to
load the first option for the openssl libraries in cl-plus-ssl, the
debugger gets invoked (and the tests fail).
We can proceed with the cl-plus-ssl FFe though since the next fix should
be in pgloader itself.
[Bug 1968075] [NEW] Please sync mptcpd 0.9-1 from debian unstable
2022-04-06 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Public bug reported:
[needs-packaging] mptcpd
The Multipath TCP Daemon - mptcpd - is a daemon for Linux based
operating systems that performs Multipath TCP path management related
operations in the user space.
Ubuntu kernels have MPTCP feature enabled. Having this package will help
users to configure it.
It would be nice to add this package in Ubuntu 22.04.
URL: https://github.com/intel/mptcpd
License: BSD-3-Clause
Notes: This new package was in preparation in January and sent to the Debian
NEW queue at the beginning of February but only got accepted on the 5 of April.
Only one correction was needed because a file from upstream had the incorrect
license.
