landscape-client WILL NOT run as a regular user. It has to be started as
root. And that's what the initscript does (/etc/init.d/landscape-
client). So, please, don't break your system trying to make landscape-
client run as a regular user.

I ask these because the apport log that was attached

The problem now is that policykit "recommends" policykit-gnome, and apt-
get follows this recomendation. It results in 97 extra packages being
installed on the server (even aspell!), a 19.6Mb download and 98Mb extra
spaced used after installation.

This is solved for intrepid now regarding policykit-gnome which was
being installed before because of the Recommends. The dependency has
been changed to Suggests, which no longer pulls in policykit-gnome by
default.

That landscape-client/landscape-config crash will happen again if you
run it as a regular user instead of root, or without using sudo. That's
somewhat expected and we will fix it so it doesn't crash, but prints a
nice error message. That is being tracked in bug #26

I have a Lenovo T61 with an Nvidia Quadro 140M video card and I'm using
the proprietary driver. I run Hardy.
I applied the patches from the mentioned branch to the hal scripts and
now I can both suspend and hibernate, and come back.
Hibernate, however, is a bit scary. It takes a while, and there

I think we have to give this a higher priority. Because of apport, it's
a very visible crash on the desktop, and it would give Landscape a bad

No, as I said before, it was fixed in a new upload (ubuntu3). So,

You can also change the landscape-sysinfo behaviour if you want it to
actually run at each login by running dpkg-reconfigure landscape-common
(and maybe "dpkg-reconfigure update-motd" before, as yours may not be
setup correctly for some reason that is not clear to me).
