After EVMS was dropped as a supported tool in Ubuntu 7.10, I switched my
system to pure mdraid + lvm. I'd had this (and other) problems with
EVMS, so I'm actually glad support was dropped as straight LVM is rock
solid for me.
I may have been hit by something similar to what's described here:
Is there a list somewhere of notable patches / features which Canonical
has integrated into their kernel? I'd like to switch to a mainline
kernel to avoid this bug (which is still affecting me), but want to be
sure I'm not missing anything critical which Canonical has changed.

looks like Windows). I purged gdm, and removed /var/lib/gdm, and then
reinstalled gdm and the theme still isn't set properly.
