just installed the new alsa-1.0.13rc1 which includes the patch (yes, ive
checked that!) and it does not work on my dell latitude d620 having an
intel hda ich7-card. playback works fine, mic input just results in
silence i dont think this bug is solved so.

I have nvidia-glx-177 installed for my GeForce 6200. I have nvidia as
the Driver in my xorg.conf. I have fully accelerated 3D for OpenGL and
Compiz. But the Hardware Drivers tool claims that No proprietary
drivers are in use on this system.

I upgraded with a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade because the Update Manager
wasn't working - it failed to update itself, apparently, and so the
upgrade kept failing. Amarok had dependency problems too, so I removed
that, did the dist-upgrade, then installed amarok and nvidia-glx-177.

So if Jockey needs nvidia-common to function, shouldn't nvidia-common be
a dependency of jockey? In its current state, Jockey does nothing.
nvidia-glx doesn't need nvidia-common, since the graphics drivers are
working fine, it's jockey that needs it to do its magic.

No. They're just on a FAT32 partition with full access.
As it turns out, having removed and re-imported the music from that
directory, it functions as it should, so I can't recreate the problem
for testing.

bit bigger so that you could see that the icon doesn't scale. The
gnome-panel has icons of 48 pixels high, and the AWN has icons of 60

It all seems to work OK with the 185 drivers that come with Karmic. I
guess whatever had caused it had been fixed. There's still quite a lot
of work to be done on Karmic though, I see. The Firefox launcher on the
panel crashes the panel, and the text in this box is invisible, for
example.

the same lack of visibility as everything else in the Gnome Desktop.
People are starting to use displays that can show over a billion colours

behaviour, by using dconf-editor to set org.gnome.mines.theme to
"classic". The Gnome devs even show the old version on their project
page. The new version is just terrible.
