Yeah, on dapper I would reach a certain size of googleearth and have to stop
making it larger.
However, I just tried it on edgy and it seems to be all good, the googleearth
window renders correctly when I open it and I can fullscreen it with no ill
effects :)

Rendering problems on edgy with
Public bug reported:
I'm running edgy (current as of this morning) and when I start Ekiga, it opens
a wizard, collects my data and then simply hangs.
strace suggests it's blocking on a futex call
** Affects: ekiga (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Unconfirmed

Hangs after
I ran it via gdb as you suggested and it worked fine. I don't see an
obvious key in gconf to tickle it into re-running the initial wizard

as with Soren, setting SAVE_VBE_STATE to false appears to have solved
this. I just did five consecutive suspend/resumes at least and the
system appears to be functioning as expected.
In terms of which laptops, as I mentioned above, this is an IBM Thinkpad
X40, type 2372. Additional info available
Yeah, I've seen that and it works fine. What I was looking for was a way
to revert ekiga to its completely original, pre-configured state.
Perhaps this is just a weird, one-off thing though.
