For those just joining us, here is a workaround I posted a while back:
One possible solution would be to convert the vfat volume to ntfs. This can be
done if the volume in question is NOT a system or otherwise un-dismountable
volume.
The command to do this, under windows xp, is:

I just tried to do the same work-araounds in natty (11.04, kernel
2.6.38-9), but whatever I try (#147, #150, #167, #169), it either does
not compile because of different apis or it compiles but without
positive effect to the tv app.

Well, i know i said that the problem could be Firefox but yesterday the
system crash running Chrome yes i feel very frustrated about this bug,
because i really like Ubuntu i thought ceasing to use Firefox the
problem was going to be out but that's not the case i forget to mention
i'm using Ubuntu
I also ran into this problem, server is running Ubuntu 9.10,
tightvncserver; was connecting from an HTC Dream using android-vnc-
viewer.
export XKL_XMODMAP_DISABLE=1 workaround worked for me as well.

Might just be limited to windows incoming. When I use the test bot
e...@test.collabora.uk and I issue the !videome command, empathy doesn't
crash. On the other hand, all I see for video on the other side, is
black. Whereas when I initiate a video call to the bot, I see my own
image echoed back

One other little bit of information: the above described black video
from echo bot happens only in Empathy. In Pidgin my image *is* echoed
back to me even when receiving an incoming call from the echo bot.
