[Bug 220294] [NEW] filechooser cannot open file dragged on Location
Public bug reported: Opening a file by bragging it on the Location text widget in the Gtk file chooser results in an error, i.e. the application cannot find the file. [Bug 262015] Re: apt cron.daily script sleeps a random amount of time twice
I'm ok with the random sleep to avoid hitting the mirrors too hard, but you missed my point. Debian's cron.daily/apt (from sid's apt 0.7.20.2) sleeps a random amount of time, up to 30 minutes. Ubuntu's cron.daily/apt (from Jaunty's apt 0.7.20.2ubuntu2) sleeps *TWICE*. There is a bit of seemingly duplicated code in the script. Here is a snippet from Debian's apt 0.7.20.2. Note how random_sleep is called only *ONCE*. # sleep random amount of time to avoid hitting the # mirrors at the same time random_sleep # check if we can access the cache if ! apt-get check -q -q 2/dev/null; then # wait random amount of time before retrying random_sleep # check again if ! apt-get check -q -q 2/dev/null; then echo $0: could not lock the APT cache while performing daily cron job. echo Is another package manager working? exit 1 fi fi UPDATE_STAMP=/var/lib/apt/periodic/update-stamp if check_stamp $UPDATE_STAMP $UpdateInterval; then if apt-get -qq update 2/dev/null; then [...] Here is a snippet from Ubuntu's apt 0.7.20.2ubuntu2. Note how random_sleep is called *TWICE*, both before and after checking the proxy settings in gconf. [Bug 315409] [NEW] initramfs-tools hook script messes up /etc/udev/rules.d
Public bug reported: On Jaunty, the /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/dmsetup script from dmsetup 1.02.27-4ubuntu1 fails to install /etc/udev/rules.d/65-dmsetup.rules correctly in the initramfs: it creates a file named /etc/udev/rules.d. I suspect this is caused by the moving of /etc/udev/rules.d to /lib/udev/rules.d made by udev 136-1. This also prevents other hooks (like /usr/share/initramfs- tools/hooks/mdadm) from installing their rules causing the latter to fail (for example, I noticed this bug because a system using mdadm's software RAID failed to boot). The fix is as simple as adding mkdir -p ${DESTDIR}/etc/udev/rules.d to /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/dmsetup, like I have done on my system to get it booting smoothly again. ** Affects: devmapper (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- initramfs-tools hook script messes up /etc/udev/rules.d https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315409 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 457574] [NEW] [Hardy] evince prints random chars instead of text with a specific PDF file
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Printing this file[1] from evince (using Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy) results in a document with only figures, secion titles and page titles. Looking at Xorg.0.log, it seems that the EDID_QUIRK_DETAILED_USE_MAXIMUM_SIZE quirk ('Detailed timing descriptors have bogus size values, so just take the maximum size and use that.') applies. [Bug 263746] [NEW] kobject: tried to init an uninitialized object when removing and re-inserting sd-mod
Public bug reported: I downloaded the Intrepid Alternate Install CD daily image (2008-09-01) and I booted a machine to perform a clean install after re-partitioning the disks and doing some testing/experimenting. Unusual things happened when I unloaded the module sd-mod (modprobe -r sd-mod): the disks powered down -- but I guess this was ok. Then, when I reloaded the module (modprobe sd-mod), I got some oopses and a kernel panic. The bug was reproducible after a reboot, and I saved the syslog. Steps to reproduce: * Boot from the Intrepid Alternate Install CD * At partman's stage, Go Back and then switch to a console/open a shell * modprobe -v -r sd-mod: rmmod /lib/modules/2.6.27-2-generic/kernel/drivers/scsi/sd_mod.ko rmmod /lib/modules/2.6.27-2-generic/kernel/lib/crc-t10dif.ko The usual noise made by the disk(s) powering down will be heard. * modprobe -v sd-mod insmod /lib/modules/2.6.27-2-generic/kernel/lib/crc-t10dif.ko insmod /lib/modules/2.6.27-2-generic/kernel/drivers/scsi/sd_mod.ko The kernel will print kobject (f736d29c): tried to init an initialized object, something is seriously wrong. and a stack trace. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 740126 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/740126 Hello, I believe this issue was a duplicate of bug #740126: in fact, Xorg stopped freezing when bug #740126 was fixed. [Bug 800740] [NEW] [i915] Xorg freeze
Public bug reported: Xorg server freezes randomly after an upgrade to Natty. I suspect this to be a duplicate of bug #740126. Most symptoms match: * Happens when the screensaver (blank screen) is active * The mouse cursor changes when moving it on different part of the screen, as if applications get events anyway (see comment #53 on bug #740126) It looks like it only happens after a suspend/resume, but I can not confirm this yet. I was able to switch to a console and gather some information, using intel_gpu_dump and apport-bug $(pidof X).
