You're right, after disabling the splash and quiet, I can confirm that
the error message is gone. However the boot process is still stucked and
works again after downgrading mountall.

I'm totally impressed, with the today's update the problem is solved.
As there was an upgrade to kernel (2.6.31-13.45) there would have been a
Superblock issue. - and was not.
And even my VBd is mounted correctly.

I removed the VBd from fstab via life CD

After a walk with my dog my brain is either complete damaged or working

IMHO Ubuntu is trying now to start a VBd wich only can work if the
VirtualBox Guestadditions are allready working, which are working AFTER

I totally agree with this request. In my case, I want to run foobar2000
on Karmic; with the default version of Ubuntu, it is only possible with
dirty hacks (start all wine programs with padsp and kill all other music
players). This patch (there is actually a new configure patch: version
0.32)

This is NOT about the fsck + Superblock issue for itself, which is IMHO really

This is about the fact that
I don't know which messages people here are talking about (instant or
e-mail), but messages from Empathy do enable a green mark on the tray
icon - but new e-mail messages (checked by gm-notify) are not causing a
green mark on the icon.

Indicator applet does not change the icon for new
As I had to reinstall Karmic from scratch (resizing of my system
partition failed), I can't conform this. However, I do remember I
installed this package for compiling a program ( I can't remember which
program it was). So, I think this was indeed my problem. Thanks!

firefox gives Couldn't
I'm running Karmic Alpha 6. If I search for ubuntu, the tracker tool
shows on the left side:

On the right side, I see three documents (instead of the expected 10). I can
click on the arrow; on the next page, 2 results are shown (and above this

After a superblock error when I am using fsck a CONTROL-D is suggested but it
doesn't boot the computer.
It hang's there - as it seems - forever.
CONTROL+ALT+DEL does the reboot (as expected).

Here, Compiz also stopped working. Maybe this is the same problem?
Because of bug report 391461 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/+bug/391461), I cannot install the version
maintained by Ubuntu. This driver worked earlier for me in Karmic.
