wine wants to install a desktop file in the desktop directory, but it
seems to me that it looks for a hard coded Desktop directory name and
ignores XDG_DESKTOP_DIR setting, which is $HOME/Arbeitsfläche in german.
Workaround:
symbolic link in $HOME: Desktop - Arbeitsfläche
radiance and swing dialogs do not work well here, they are almost not
usable, as some buttons are almost hidden at corners. This concerns
dialog windows that are not resizeable and others as well, as resizing
does not lead to completely drawn buttons.

Unfortunately it also determines the default color of math objects. If
this color is i.e. dark grey black and white printers dither and small
characters are therefore disturbed.
I found no gui for changing
Applications with very small window size on common HD screens like xterm
/gnome-terminal should have their own menus. Often they reside far away
from the top panel.
Maybe there should be a 25% rule: Application windows with less than
25% of screen occupation get their own menus. Of course there
in unity-2d (i use it from ppa) i can disable the 75% rule, maybe it
some lines of qml are enough to establish the 25% rule.

Cannot reproduce at home with radeon graphic card, but maybe the error
was cured by a very recent update. The problem occurred at work with
intel-hd graphics driver.

i commented out the line with ata_piix in /etc/modules, deinstalled and
reinstalled the jaunty generic kernel rebooted and it worked. So i am
confident that the bug went away. I intent to give away the box next
weeks so no more further tests are possible.

Today i updated my system from karmic to lucid with update-manager -d
with no problems. The problem is that with kernel
vmlinuz-2.6.32-18-generic (i686 32 bit)
the system freezes after five minutes (running i.e. netbeans and
rhythmbox). I now use my last karmic kernel
now i rebooted in the lucid kernel with kernel parameter
radeon.modeset=0 and wait for the next freeze

download directory under home, but in my experience they are placed into

I use banshee 1.8 (maverick proposed) and there are definitely problems
when switching radio channels, radio gets unuseable after some zapping
of radio streams whereas mp3 playing stays functional.
Also after some zapping the audio menu integration stops working,
banshee works again
problem persisted until now on ubuntu maverick i386. Recently i read
about option pci=nomsi and as i receive strange interrupts i gave this
option a try.
It seems now that the problem is gone with the following cmdline:

rename file to .zip ending, then it works so i am afraid this is a
feature .
