to another Ubuntu 8.04 and this problem has not resurfaced since then.
These systems are very, very similar in their configurations. Both are
primarily web servers. Its been now 28 days, and that is probably a good

I have not been able to reproduce this problem outside of the current
production environment. And I can't realistically try to run php under
valgrind since these are paying clients, and I can't risk their sites
stability, etc.

Suggested fix: konsole. More options, and as a bonus all the friggin
keys work (at least the ones I use anyway). I feel stupid using kde apps
on a gnome desktop but even stoopider not being able to use all the keys

When I run 4 cpu intensive process on Quad Core on the 9.10-rc amd64 i
found that the performance is decreased compared to 9.10 alpha3. After
some investigation I found that the frequency scaling is not working

to respond again. Also any application running usually Mozilla suddenly

Same situation here. I believe in my case, this is triggered by turning
effects On (System Preferences Visual Effects), and subsequently
turning Visual Effects back off. While 'On', ALT key combos work fine.
Then when turned off, ALT is ignored. Pressing ALT-TAB twice when focus
is on a terminal
Correction: originally none of the my usual ALT key combos worked.
Turing Visual Effects On and back off, has restored some of the key

After another occurrence of this, it is clear this is NOT a kernel
issue. It is a load issue caused most likely by a DOS type issue against
Apache. I had atop running and found cpu load maxed out, memory
completely exhausted, and many Apache processes running (many more than
could be accounted for

9.04. I have since upgraded to 9.10, added 4G RAM, and replaced the
onboard Intel video with nvidia. My system seems to run flawlessly now
