[Bug 1491601] [NEW] Testcase for Gnome-terminal needs editing
Public bug reported: I have noticed some inconsistencies with the gnome-terminal testcase and the gnome-terminal I have installed with ubuntu 15.10. Test-case name: gnometerminal/ter-002 This test will check that terminal colors and zoom level can be changed Open the Terminal application Click on Edit, select Profiles, select Edit and select "Colors" Using the options contained in the "Colors" tab modify the color palette, choosing some non-default colors or a different color scheme The colors in your terminal match your modifications Click on Edit, select Profiles, select Edit and select "Background" Set the terminal choosing the option "Background Image" Terminal background changes to the current wallpaper For this tier, the only thing I was able to change were the palette custom color themes. Clicking the colors below the custom palette dropdown menu did not change anything. Open the Terminal application Press "Ctrl+Alt+T" Is an instance of gnome-terminal with the title 'user@hostname: ~' opened, with the current directory set to the users home directory? ctl-alt-t did not open the gnome-terminal. shift-ctr-t opens a new tab within an open terminal and shift-ctrl-n opens a new terminal. This needs to be modified. Open the Terminal application >From the main menu select 'Terminal > Set Title...' The Set Title dialog appears Enter 'Test Title' and click OK Is the title of the window now 'Test Title'? There was no "set title" under the terminal menu. There was no option of changing the menu title. This testcase needs to be edit to align with the terminal pre-installed on ubuntu 15.10. [Bug 1459301] [NEW] NTP failed to install
Public bug reported: My system clock on Xubuntu 15.10 was manually setup. It did show the correct time. I believed ntp was generally in charge of managing the time clock. After righ-clicking the time clock on the lxpanel, clicking properties, and clicking "time and date settings", I notice my clock was set on manual. Once I click the "configuration" option, I was given to possibilities, manual or synchronize with ntp. I selected ntp. The clock prompted that ntp support needed to be install. The package needed was "libopts25". Once selected and the installation executed, the reported that ntp server could not be found. The system was still installing the package as viewed in the details window. Installation completed and I was given the option to use ntp. After selection ntp and restarting the computer, my system time clock was not set to the current time. To access the Internet, my home router requires one to login from its web-portal. I am not sure if this is causing the issue. I viewed the dpkg.log file and noticed that the package "libopts25" was only half installed. 015-05-26 14:51:03 startup archives unpack 2015-05-26 14:51:06 install libopts25:i386 1:5.18.5-2 2015-05-26 14:51:06 status half-installed libopts25:i386 1:5.18.5-2 2015-05-26 14:51:07 status unpacked libopts25:i386 1:5.18.5-2 2015-05-26 14:51:07 status unpacked libopts25:i386 1:5.18.5-2 2015-05-26 14:51:07 install ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:07 status half-installed ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:08 status triggers-pending man-db:i386 2.7.0.2-5 2015-05-26 14:51:08 status triggers-pending systemd:i386 219-10ubuntu1 2015-05-26 14:51:08 status triggers-pending ureadahead:i386 0.100.0-19 2015-05-26 14:51:08 status unpacked ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:08 status unpacked ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:08 trigproc man-db:i386 2.7.0.2-5 2015-05-26 14:51:08 status half-configured man-db:i386 2.7.0.2-5 2015-05-26 14:51:12 status installed man-db:i386 2.7.0.2-5 2015-05-26 14:51:12 trigproc systemd:i386 219-10ubuntu1 2015-05-26 14:51:12 status half-configured systemd:i386 219-10ubuntu1 2015-05-26 14:51:14 status installed systemd:i386 219-10ubuntu1 2015-05-26 14:51:14 trigproc ureadahead:i386 0.100.0-19 2015-05-26 14:51:14 status half-configured ureadahead:i386 0.100.0-19 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status installed ureadahead:i386 0.100.0-19 2015-05-26 14:51:15 startup packages configure 2015-05-26 14:51:15 configure libopts25:i386 1:5.18.5-2 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status unpacked libopts25:i386 1:5.18.5-2 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status half-configured libopts25:i386 1:5.18.5-2 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status installed libopts25:i386 1:5.18.5-2 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status triggers-pending libc-bin:i386 2.21-0ubuntu4 2015-05-26 14:51:15 configure ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status unpacked ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status unpacked ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status unpacked ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status unpacked ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status unpacked ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:15 status unpacked ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:16 status triggers-pending systemd:i386 219-10ubuntu1 2015-05-26 14:51:16 status triggers-pending ureadahead:i386 0.100.0-19 2015-05-26 14:51:16 status unpacked ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:16 status unpacked ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:16 status half-configured ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:20 status installed ntp:i386 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3ubuntu6 2015-05-26 14:51:20 trigproc libc-bin:i386 2.21-0ubuntu4 2015-05-26 14:51:20 status half-configured libc-bin:i386 2.21-0ubuntu4 2015-05-26 14:51:20 status installed libc-bin:i386 2.21-0ubuntu4 2015-05-26 14:51:20 trigproc systemd:i386 219-10ubuntu1 2015-05-26 14:51:20 status half-configured systemd:i386 219-10ubuntu1 2015-05-26 14:51:21 status installed systemd:i386 219-10ubuntu1 2015-05-26 14:51:21 trigproc ureadahead:i386 0.100.0-19 2015-05-26 14:51:21 status half-configured ureadahead:i386 0.100.0-19 2015-05-26 14:51:22 status installed ureadahead:i386 0.100.0-19 Expected results: ntp service install completely, system clock managed by ntp servers Actual result: ntp was only half installed. system clock not managed by system servers How to reproduce the problem: Install Xubuntu 15.10 without internet connectivity set time clock manaully right click time clock from lxpanel, select properties, select "Time and Date settings" Click the configuration option box and select "keep synchronized with internet servers" ibopts25: Installed: 1:5.18.5-2 Candidate: 1:5.18.5-2 Version table: *** 1:5.18.5-2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu W

I see gvfs-trash file on Xubuntu. I read the gvfs-man page and found this paragraph, "trash sends files or directories to the "Trashcan". This can be a different folder depending on where the file is located, and not all file systems support this concept. Re: [Bug 1445622] Re: [Xubuntu vivid daily] Trash directory unable to be found
I see gvfs-trash file on Xubuntu. I read the gvfs-man page and found this paragraph, "trash sends files or directories to the "Trashcan". This can be a different folder depending on where the file is located, and not all file systems support this concept. In the common case that the file lives inside a users home directory, the trash folder is $XDG_DATA_HOME/Trash." There was no variable named "$XDG_DATA_HOME/Trash. I am thinking, gvfs was unable to label the file as located in trash. Wish I was a developer. I would really like to know technically gvfs-trash works with the filesystem. Thunar is the package that is having the issue. Perhaps the work around would be to use another file manager. What we know, thunar can't find it. That problem starts there. [Bug 1441843] Re: X server fails to start on post-final Beta Lubuntu Vivid desktop images due to missing xserver-xorg-video-all package
After looking up the definition of this package on the debian packages site, https://packages.debian.org/squeeze/xserver-xorg-video-all, it says this package depends on the full suite of output drivers for Xorg X server. It does not provide any drivers itself but can be removed if the user requires certain drivers. If it does not provide any drivers itself, why is it needed? It sounds as if this package acts like a container holding a bunch of output drivers for the Xserver. If so, a distribution developed with this package depends on the drivers from this package. Removing this package will cause the Xserver to fail, just like what I was experiencing. This package holds all, or the required drivers for Xserver to operate on any GPU device that is supports, I am inferring. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441843 Title: X server fails to start on post-final Beta Lubuntu Vivid desktop images due to missing xserver-xorg-video-all package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-meta/+bug/1441843/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1409209] Re: After installing Lubuntu from USB stick, GRUB mistakenly lists Lubuntu as Ubuntu
It would still be ideal to give the name of the ubuntu flavor installed. The is the same and most applications from one DE will work on others. If you are installing more one flavor of Ubuntu then this will be a problem. For testers like us, this would make things easier. For a new user, hopefully they don't install more than one flavor, should be fine with just Ubuntu. To the developers, they are all the same. Phillw, you can disable ibus with the lxpolicykit? Can someone please confirm that lubuntu-software-center AND ubuntu- software-center work fine in Xubuntu and Kubuntu? If so, then it's clearly an LXDE setup issue. For that matter, you could probably just install xubuntu-desktop and kubuntu-desktop, I imagine. Also can we confirm the fix? If so, we need to find out which was the last version that actually worked right. [Bug 1409209] Re: After installing Lubuntu from USB stick, GRUB mistakenly lists Lubuntu as Ubuntu
Yes, Lubuntu is listed as Ubuntu in the grub boot menu. Not sure why that is. Perhaps that was intended but it make distinguishing OS in the menu. What I did was edit the grub.cfg file under the path /boot/grub/grb.cfg. There, I changed the names of all OSs to something specific. You could do the samething if you want to be able to tell the difference between OSes. ** Attachment added: "IMG_20150318_123727.jpg" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1409209/+attachment/4349088/+files/IMG_20150318_123727.jpg ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1409209 Title: After installing Lubuntu from USB stick, GRUB mistakenly lists Lubuntu as Ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1409209/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1433649] [NEW] Lubuntu-software-center could not authenticate user
Public bug reported: The Lubuntu-software-center said it could not authenticate user when trying to install package "mplayer" for youtube. A window prompt appeared saying "You are not allowed to perform this action, You don't have the required privileges to perform this action". I believe the application was suppose to prompt for a password. Instead, I have to open the program from a terminal using this command, "sudo lubuntu- software-center". [Bug 1432843] Re: Lubuntu failed to boot
It seems the issue is with Xorg version 1:7.7. This is the version that the 64bit spin of 20150317 is using. Could not get the version from the 32bit system. During boot, and after pressing ctrl+esc, the boot procedure stopped at "acounts-dameon.services and the screen started blinking. I pressed ctrl+alt+f4 to get to the shell. After logging in, typed "startx" and the system tried to load the Xserver. It only displayed an "internal error message" and notification of available wi- fi networks, nothing else. Moving this bug to confirmed. ** Changed in: syslinux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1432843 Title: Lubuntu failed to boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/syslinux/+bug/1432843/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Still having the issue with the 32bit spin. Definitely an Xserver issue. [Bug 1428727] [NEW] dbus gave an error when trying to install language translation components
Public bug reported: After installer the new daily image of Lubuntu 15.04, upon reboot, a window appeared informing me that that language I was using (english-us) was missing some language translation components. The displayed a button "run this action now" to install the missing components. After runing through all the steps that the wizard walked me through, I got this error "org.freedesktop.PolicyKit.Error.Failed: ('system-bus-name', {'name': ':1.56'}): org.debian.apt.install-or-remove-packages". Not sure that to make of this error or what part of the system it is referring to. I will make an educated guess based on oservation that the installer did not get the required permission to install the needed pacakages, yet it never asked for any.
