not reproduce the issue any more. I had a mounted a SMB share using
/etc/fstab which appeared to be successfully unmounted prior to shutdown
(or at least, it didn't hang for a minute or so, it shut down
immediately).

I have tried the cifs mount over VPN scenario and shutting down does still
take time. I think connected mounts at shutdown are fixed so they unmount,
but if the VPN is disconnected prior to shutdown the unmount will hang
still.

Hi, I'm still having problems with autofs starting correctly when I
boot. My network has an LDAP server that hands out the maps, so I have
autofs5-ldap installed. Startup worked fine in Lucid and Maverick, but
Natty refuses to mount on a boot without restarting autofs. This is

Upgrading to A12 via the Dell instructions really quietened things down
for me. Nvidia 177 in use, previous bios A10.
Remember to run those command Dell supplies as sudo.
The only thing that was a problem in the BIOS update was a screen
getting rainbow lines in it for about 10 seconds.

was marked for removal by the upgrade process but was: on the removal

i removed the package and am doing an upgrade now which at the moment is
working...

okay, so i force removed the esound package from gutsy,
and then doing sudo do-release-upgrade seems to be working away and currently
downloading packages...
the gksu sh /cdrom/cdromupgrade and then upgrade-manager upgrade fails, it
still freezes...
so if you have the alternate cd then it's not

/etc/apt/sources.list to a non ubuntu server and it was fast...
oh well...
everything is fixed now for me, although i never used the gui upgrader...

I got this problem as well after upgrading from 4.0.0 to 4.0.1 - kdm-
kde4 fails to start. In 4.0.0 it was working fine - seems to be a pretty
major thing when KDE doesn't start up because of a misconfigured kdm ?

an existing host, scp fails to detect this basic issue until *after* you
have been prompted for the remote systems password.

Have you tried installing the kde4 kamera package which provides a
System Settings section under advance called Digital Camera ?
But you are right, there doesn't seem to be an all encompassing
peripherals section.

Running the latest PPA packages from Kubuntu KDE4.0, I cannot get an
admin mode in the KDE4 System Settings to manage Login Manager or
Date/Time
There was a bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118321) seemingly
related to this
Running it as Martin suggest from the shell works for me. It would be
better to have a password prompt for modules that require admin privs.
Note that running it like this:
$ kdesu /usr/lib/kde4/bin/systemsettings
QMutex::lock: Deadlock detected in thread -1235896640

acpi_fakekey (doesnt work)
Below are a couple quick and dirty replacements that work on dell vostro 1000
