[Thinkpad SL410] Sytem does not suspend

Doing 11.10 certification testing on the Thinkpad SL410. The system
fails the suspend and resume test because it can not suspend. The system
attempts to suspend, gets about half way, and spits out errors and then
resumes without actually fully suspending.

appears that wireless is not working on this machine. According to

Update: This is a little different now... it appears that SOME USB
devices cause severe instability on SOME systems. I've now observed
this with two dell systems, Vostro 3550 and a Latitude E6510. On both
machines, connecting the wireless mouse/kbd dongle caused the systems

is not quite as twitchy as it was in 11.04, BUT it's still almost

This is the first time I've used the Nouveau driver as this is really
the first time I've felt it good enough to use full time (I haven't
tried it since 10.04). But now that I've done a brand new install of
Precise on my Alienware M15x with the nVidia GT240m GPU, I'm running
I shot this video with my iPhone just to show you what actually appears
on screen between LightDM and the desktop.
I don't recall noticing this with the nVidia proprietary drivers, to be

Thanks for working on this. An update recently resolved the problem and
the Log Out option started working again. I don't know if there was a
deliberate fix or just an inadvertent one, but in any case, all the menu
options for things like Log Out, Shut Down, and Restart are
Setting these back to New for now, I don't know if you'd rather mark
them invalid or fixed, but either way, problem was fixed.

Log Out
For what it's worth, I am no longer seeing this on my Alienware w/
nVidia GT240M running Nouveau. I have not loaded nVidia-current to see
if I can repro there, but the Nouveau driver seems to be a LOT better
than it previously was, and the white box no longer bothers me here.

Ok... so I just ran into this again... but I don't think it's the menu.
Today I saw bug #940603 occur again after I thought it had been
resolved. When this bug occurred (big white box obscures screen), THAT
is when the logout function stopped working. So I'm thinking that this
may not be a bug
So it happened to me again today, after not occurring during normal use
for some time now. Big white box, caused me to have to restart X to get
rid of it.
Interestingly, I discovered that THIS bug seems to be the cause of this
bug: #957005

upstream checkbox project and set it critical there as well. I'll have
to do a run through again using the latest PPA version to double check,
but I have seen exactly this issue before.

Here is a screenshot showing this...
This screenshot shows the MMC test with Yes highlighted. I haven't
actually clicked Test the Yes button is highlighted after
successfully completing a previous test and the button is NOT cleared
out after moving on.

Here's the next one. After clicking Next because the UI confusingly
informed me that I'd already tested this (The Yes was highlighted as
though it had successfully passed, even though I never clicked Test to
initiate the MMC Insert test) I got the popup asking me if I want to
skip the test.

It could be that we just need to increase the timeout to something a
little longer like 20 seconds to account for these occasional dialogs.
