Sorry for my incomplete sentence "upload it so we can test it". I didn't
ment uploading to the Feisty repos, but somewhere so we can download it

What I did was downloaded the mplayer cvs package from the Devede site. I
extracted the files "mplayer" and "mencoder" from it, and replaced the ones in
/usr/bin. It works. Thanks jeroenvrp for the hint.

When I said manually fixing, I ment: dpkg --configure -a

I too found myself in situations like this. I think it's because the mirrors.
When I was using the romanian mirrors as repos, it happened very often. It's
very frustrating as you have to manually fix the problem every time this
happens.
How about first synching the packages, and only after that
I made a patch which fixes the problem.

them on a global level, only for HPLIP Toolbox. For example I may set
anything there, if I pring in another App, it has the default settings.
But I tried modifiyng settings in the CUPS Web interface, and those were

One more thing, can't get 5.1 to work either...
Tried setting it in Amarok, in Kaffeine... but nothing. It's set to 6 channels
in alsamixer though... but as I said they have no effect over volume or things

Hi, I still can't set the volume in KMix, nor in Alsamixer. PCM is not
present in KMix, and in Alsamixer I can't give a value to it (dead).
Will the kernel update fix this? Because volume management is imposible

Also, a sidenote: after rebooting post xorg-reconfigure, the screen
began flashing a whole bunch and freakin' out. When I did CTRL+ALT+1 to
