[Bug 1760988] [NEW] Slides during installation do not appear completely in Spanish

2018-04-03 Thread José Jorge Enríquez
Public bug reported:

During installation of Xubuntu Desktop amd64 20180403.1 CD image on VirtualBox,
selecting Spanish language, the welcoming slides do not appear completely in
Spanish.
- The first ("Le damos la bienvenida a Xubuntu") and second ("Ayuda y
asistencia") ones show the title in Spanish but text in English.
- Third one appears in Spanish correctly.
- Last ("Join the community") one appears completely in English.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the first slide.

[Bug 1568604] Re: Mouse cursor lost when unlocking with Intel graphics

2016-08-16 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Tested succesfully xserver-xorg-video-intel from xenial proposed on an
Inspiron 14 3000 series laptop.

Installed 2:2.99.917+git20160325-1ubuntu1.1, restarted system, tested
from lock, then suspend and finally lock again, cursor returned
everytime.

[Bug 1568604] Re: Mouse cursor lost when unlocking with Intel graphics

2016-07-11 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
I am running Xenial on an Inspiron 14 laptop with Intel video.

As per requested in the xubuntu-users mailing list, I installed the
xserver-xorg-video-intel deb from the yaketti packages, both:

* Test that following a return from suspend and logging that the cursor is
visible.
* Test that following a lock and unlock that the cursor is visible.

work fine with the yaketty package.

Removing the yaketty package and going back to the xenial one makes only
this one work:

* Test that following a return from suspend and logging that the cursor
is visible.

[Bug 1552985] Re: [Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series] System hangs on poweroff

2016-06-17 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Today I updated my laptop's BIOS to A12 version, and now I'm able to
shutdown the computer without problems.

On the BIOS update details
(http://www.dell.com/support/home/mx/es/mxbsdt1/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=RCK0N=3543381893)
a fix and an enhancement are mentioned:

Fixes
- Modify the output value of memory module manufacturer ID (from SPD) to
hexadecimal ID.

Enhancements
- Update IO define for FreeBSD OS.

Don't know which one fixes the shutting down problem.
I'm running Xubuntu 16.04:

[Bug 1579831] [NEW] Moved file seems to remain in folder

2016-05-09 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Public bug reported:

Bug found while running these tests:
http://packages.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/361/builds/117794/testcases/1682/results
After reverting to official Thunar version, ran the test again and the bug
appeared:

1. Open Thunar and create folder A - the location is completely up to you
2. Create a few folder B and some files inside folder A
3. Move some of your files from A to B
4. Move all of them back to A, every now and then a file would "seem to remain"
in folder B (but it in fact was moved to folder A).
5. Trying to make an operation on this "remaining" file will fail. Reloading
content (Ctrl + R) will make the "file" disappear.

[Bug 1572792] [NEW] Drag and drop copies files instead of moving them in Thunar in latest Xenial Final

2016-04-20 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Public bug reported:

Default behaviour for drag in Xubuntu 14.04 is to move files, but
in latest Xenial image draggin files copies them instead.

Steps:
1. Opened /home/xubuntu/ folder in Thunar. A list of default folders appear.
2. Created an empty "test" file.

[Bug 1552985] Re: [Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series] System hangs on poweroff

2016-03-23 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Today I tried the Xubuntu Xenial daily image and again (live usb), the system
was not able to shut down.
In the live session, selected the Xubuntu menu, shut down, when Xubuntu image
appeared pressed [F1] to be able to see system messages, I got these messages
at the end:

[OK] Stopped target Local File System.
 Unmounting /run/user/999...
 Unmounting cdrom.mount...
 Unmounting /rofs...
 Unmounting /sys/kernel/debug/tracing...
 Unmounting /tmp...
[FAILED] Failed unmounting cdrom.mount.

[OK] Unmounted /sys/kernel/debug/tracing.
[OK] Unmounted /run/user/999.
[OK] Unmounted /rofs.
[OK] Unmounted /tmp.
[OK] Reached target Unmount All Filesystems.

[OK] Stopped Create Static Device Nodes in /dev.
[OK] Stopped Remount Root and Kernel File Systems.
[OK] Reached target Shutdown.
[202.959599] reboot: Power down

And the system hangs there, it does not complete the shut down. It does
not respond to any keypress, I have to keep the power button pressed to
get the computer shut down.

[Bug 1560743] [NEW] Xubuntu Xenial Beta 2 live image is not able to start

2016-03-22 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Public bug reported:

Downloaded Xenial Daily from 2016-03-22 on Windows, created a live USB
using "Linux Live USB creator" and tested on an Inspiron 14 3000 series
laptop, system boots correctly, Xubuntu loading image (boot image) is
displayed, but it seems to fail just before launching the ubiquity
installer, because no language selector nor install/try Xubuntu options
appear, instead, I get a window with following message:

Sorry, Ubuntu 16.04 has experienced an internal error.
If you notice further problems try restarting the computer.

If clicking on the "Show details" button I get this information:

I was unable to connect to the Internet so I couldn't send the report within
the live USB environment, after trying and getting a connection error, a new
window appears with this message:

The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will
now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing
again.

Clicking on the "OK" button on that window will bring a black window
with some white text and then back to a "normal" live graphical session,
with a link to "Install Xubuntu 16.04 LTS" on the desktop.

I'll try to add more information as I can gather it.

no, I don't need a backport to a release prior to 16.04, so I'm marking

[Bug 1552985] Re: [Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series] System hangs on poweroff

2016-03-08 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Cristopher, I'm not able to install the image but tested it in live mode and
I'm able to shut down the computer without problems.
I also tried with a Xubuntu 14.04.03 live image (I didn't have a 14.04.04 one
at hand) and found it also hangs when shutting down the computer.

So, I guess it is already solved in the new upcoming version.

[Bug 1552985] [NEW] [Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series] System hangs on poweroff

2016-03-03 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Public bug reported:

Xubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
Linux 3.13.0-79-generic #123-Ubuntu SMP Fri Feb 19 14:27:58 UTC 2016 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

When shutting down the system, it gets stuck on the Xubuntu splash
screen. I have to press the power button for a while to have it shut
down.

This is a dual boot system: Windows 10 and Xubuntu 14.04. I updated BIOS
version to A10 a couple of days ago. It hanged when trying to shut down from
both Windows and Xubuntu.
After installing the firmware update from
http://www.dell.com/support/article/mx/es/mxbsdt1/SLN300281/EN, the computer
shuts down correctly from Windows, but still gets stuck when trying to shut
down from Xubuntu, no matter if using the "Shutdown" button or running
"shutdown -h now" or "poweroff" from a terminal.

I found a similar bug here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1341925?comments=all,
but the solution mentioned there did not work for me, also, I don't have
any problems when rebooting the computer, just when trying to shut down.

[Bug 1508779] [NEW] During installation: proposed keyboard layout does not correspond to the actual keyboard connected

2015-10-21 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Public bug reported:

During installation of Xubuntu Wily Final 64 bit ISO, the proposed
keyboard on the Ubiquity installer does not correspond to the actual
keyboard connected to the system nor the timezone selected in the
previous step.

as timezone, but when going to keyboard configuration, English language
was selected.

[Bug 486877] Re: usplash killed by signal TERM on shutdown

2011-03-01 Thread José Jorge Enríquez
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 348440 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/348440

I don't think this is a duplicate bug, in #348440 system switches to a
text console and then back to usplash.

The problem here is that we have a message usplash killed on the
console and so usplash never appears. I have several Karmic systems and
all of them show this behaviour, but I guess it won't be fixed and so it
should be stated.

[Bug 328089] Re: [Jaunty] splashy 0.3.13-3ubuntu1 fresh install conflicts with lsb-base

2010-06-21 Thread José Jorge Enríquez
I'm using Karmic, usplash does not work for me on shutdown so I'm trying
splashy, but can't install it because of this:

Unpacking splash (from .../splashy_0.3.13-5ubuntu1_i386.deb)...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/splashy_0.3.13-5ubuntu1_i386.deb
(--unpack): trying to overwrite '/etc/lsb-base-logging.sh', which is also in

I've read we can't use splashy in Lucid, but is there a fix for Karmic?

[Bug 377120] Re: screen artifacts on rebooting or shutting down

2009-06-27 Thread José Jorge Enríquez
I've tested it on Jaunty, but the problem is still there, I got
vertical colored lines on screen just before rebooting :(.

I added the PPA repositories and made an update:

$ aptitude show nvidia-glx-180
Package: nvidia-glx-180
Status: installed
Automatically instaled: no
Version: 185.18.14-0ubuntu1~xup~1~jaunty

[Bug 377120] [NEW] screen artifacts on rebooting or shutting down

2009-05-15 Thread José Jorge Enríquez
Public bug reported:

If the nVidia restricted driver is enabled (either version 180 or 173),
when rebooting or shutting down, the screen would show some artifacts
(vertical lines or a kind of white powder that extends slowly). These
artifacts appear when the system is just about to finish rebooting or
shutting down.

The issue is present in Jaunty 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

Some other people at Ubuntu formus have reported the same issue:
