It would be a good idea for Ubuntu just to offer a "Not to install grub
anywhere" option, as Debian does. I do have already a grub installed on
my computer, so I install no new grub and, afterwards, I update my well-

Just updating that in 17.04 and 17.10 it still shows, some times
multiple times for the same issue. The opt-in option is better suited
for end users and if a developer wants it enabled they can simply edit
the apport file. But again, a year later and 2 versions later, a simple
opt-in approach
So this are the results using the latest Mutter (3.26.1) from todays
update plus Nvidia 387.22 with an Nvidia GTX 1080 -

With Dying Light both border issues showed.
With Mad Max one showed and after doing a 2nd ALT-TAB both showed.
With Shadow of Mordor both showed.

Thank you Jeremy. Will be testing this out with several Steam games and
provide feedback.

I can confirm this is happening on 17.10 with unity. Opening LO through
file shows "Unknown application name", and opening the application
directly from the launcher correctly identifies it as "Libreoffice
Calc". See screenshots.

4.13.7
4.13.8
4.13.9
4.13.10
4.14-RC6
The error that typically show is:
